It was excellent! I had the ham with candied yams, cream corn, yeast rolls and banana pudding!!! It was all delicious! They always have at least a dozen desserts and the best tea in town! The fried okra also was excellent, crisp and fresh. Other sides, green beans, limas, rutabegas, well cooked but again, fairly bland. The salad bar was very basic. Coleslaw was minced cabbage and a sweet dressing. Interesting. Price was very reasonable given that you could go back again and again. Lots of desserts including a homemade maple pecan cake. The blueberry cobbler had a kind of almost toffee-like oatmeal topping that threw me for a bit of a loop. I didn't try any of the other main courses except the salmon croquette which was decent. Oh, the jalapeno cornbread was interesting and tasty enough to eat more than one piece. So, kind of a typical "meat and three" type buffet.

WOW I'm not really used to the person (a female) at the pickup window being curt & snippy. Weird…read more So many of us are just about ready to give up on ALL fast foods due to not knowing whether or not we're getting dicey labgrown ingredients, but at least Chick-fil-A was one of the last bastions of pleasant service, so if that goes downhill too it's over. That being said, the young man who took my order was most pleasant although he did put down the wrong extra sauce & I didn't notice until after I left & it wasn't worth going through the whole line again to get it fixed. The cashier was also competent enough, although a smile would have been nice considering it's costing fifteen dollars per person these days for a modest drive-thru meal, which packs quite a wallop for those of us on fixed incomes. It's a rare treat for some of us to go out to eat - even through it's only a drive-thru - so it would be nice not to be tricked by bad behavior. Not sure people understand what's going on out here in the real world. If you see someone with a handicap placard, chances are really good they've been suffering without adequate heat & air conditioning & various other luxuries you take for granted on the daily. I don't even have a hot water heater any more. Imagine how fun that is. I tried the new Jalepeno Ranch Sandwich, which was delicious, so I hope & pray it came off a real chicken? Was a little disappointed that the bun was refrigerator cold. I don't understand the point of serving deep fried chicken - HOT! - on a crypt cold bun? It's nowhere near Halloween. That's all I've got for now. Hopefully I'll be able to visit again next month, but we'll see. I usually have to wait until the end of the month to make sure I don't have any unexpected expenses to cover, that's how tight it is.

I had the strawberry and pecan salad that I loved. It was clean and seem to be very efficient. The food was served in a reasonable amount of time. The steak was undercooked to the point of being blue (less cooked than rare), and the asparagus was undercooked. I didn't return it because I was with my mother. The second time I went, which was a few days later, I ordered a medium ribeye on the off chance I got the same cook. The steak arrived well done. I told the waiter (I forget his name) about it, he offered to take the steak back, but I declined because I did not want to make a scene. Based on those two experiences, I have decided not to go back to this place because I feel like the cook(s) don't know how to cook a steak. That's pretty terrible for a steakhouse. Other than that, the service was good and the ambiance was okay.
