Where every other op shop now seems to be modelling itself on high street fashion stores, good old Don is still serving it up the way it is meant to be. I'm obviously happy to support charities by shopping at op shops, but the real appeal for me is finding a great little item that no one else will have and that will cost me only a few bucks. That's what you get at the Don. None of this, "it's a flowery 90s Laura Ashley number and we know how the 90s is back in fashion so we'll up the price tag", it's still, "It's a secondhand dress that smells a bit and has yellowing patches at the underarm region so lets get rid of it for less than $10". Aside from that, it's got your typical array of clothes, knick knacks, bits and pieces and other general stuff that other people have thrown out but you just might find useful. Given the highly convenient location of Don Bosco, it tends to get picked over pretty heavily, so the really great finds are less frequent than at some of the more out of the way joints. I really really love this store! mainly because I love the people who work here! Charlotte is such a charming lady and they are always helpful and smiling and positive and I always leave this store if not with a new item then definitelly with a good mood and a big smile. it's also a little bit like a treasure hunt center. you never know what you will find! not to say that everything is super neatly organized! the prices are mindbogling! you can buy a nice dress for under $8! also during Brunswick Music Festival they make a huuuge annual sale where everything goes for $1! North of Albion Street is a Bosco health centre, which from the outside looking in has several pits of crazy pieces of foam and balls for children the play and stay healthy. One outlet to support this centre is the Op Shop down towards the city. The sliding glass door sticks in the colder months, and the ramp up from the doorway has precariously stacked canvases and paintings. The clothing is towards the back, divided into men's and women's, with an extra rack for crazy hi-Vis workwear - all fluro orange overalls and the like.
