You have to be within 7 days of your requested reservation date so as soon as I was closer I set up a reservation through Open Table. They do require a deposit which was fine because it made sure that we had the lanes needed for our party. I actually ended up calling the Tavern and Bowl to see if they had any earlier reservations and they told me if the person who requested an earlier time didn't pay the deposit I'd get the time slot. I am so lucky because these people didn't pay their deposit and we got the time and the lane. Cute thing, you can actually have kids come too, my niece who is 5 got to come along and they had a little device for her so she can push the ball, she ended up beating me. Everyone was so kind and service was so smooth and efficient, we got to bring donuts for our party and my husband and I ordered the carnitas nachos, they were delicious. Seriously such a great time, obviously this is before the Padres season so we lucked out on parking but this is a great place to host birthday parties. There was a tall gal behind the bar slinging drinks fast as hell while a bunch of folks sang "American Pie." It felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be. That's where I met the sweetest little old lady. We talked for what felt like hours, and then she asked if I wanted to play pool. I told her I didn't play, but what the hell--we were having too good a time to say no. She beat me fair and square. I reckon that's the moment I knew I was in trouble, though I was too stubborn to admit it. What followed were the most magical four weeks I'd had in a long, long time. It felt like we lived a lifetime together. Anyway... Betty Sue, if you ever happen to read this, I miss you, and I'm sorry. I'll always wish I'd been the man I should've been for you. ChiChi is a cash bar and far to walk now thar I live in Gaslamp. Star Bar has been my favorite since day one. They expanded and now have 4 tables. The staff is great, the drinks are strong and the least expensive in the area. I'm convinced anyone here speaking poorly of Bailey must have been acting immature or inappropriate because I have personally seen her practice amazing patience, tolerance, and kindness with rude customers who didn't deserve even one of those responses. If you want to have a good time with good drinks and great people, I recommend Star Bar each and every night.
