Our whole crew ate there at lunch on Sunday. The place was pretty vibrant. The hostess look pretty moody wasn't very cheerful. Our waiter was great very funny. Helped us out with the menu. I ordered the shrimp cocktail. It was fantastic not a lot of places give you that much shrimp and a big margarita glass cocktail very tasteful everybody there enjoyed their food was really impressed with this place when I go back up there to work again in the next couple of weeks, we will stop there to eat again Thumbs up! read more

Unfortunately, it seems that this place has gone through somewhat of a downgrade. What was once a great Tex-Mex restaurant that rivaled the neighboring Juan Pablo's has now turned into more of a sports bar joint with subpar food. There is now a projector that plays soccer on one of the larger walls but it's very shaky and watching it for too long might give you a bit of a headache (perhaps it's because of the fans and/or ventilation system?) I ordered my usual go-to dish, the taquito dinner special, and it was very overcooked-- and tasted burnt. I remember what the taquitos used to taste like and they were much better before. My family and I liked to mix it up between Juan Pablos and this place because of the different menus, but I think we'll be sticking to the former for now on. read more

The worst queso I have ever had in my life. I grew up around the Houston area and know what good queso is - and this isn't it. We first ordered the blanco (my fault, was a little tipsy) and it tasted like water with a tiny bit of cheese melted into it. It was 99.9% flavorless other than the peppers. The regular Chile con queso wasn't as bad but still, weird consistency and watered down??? Service was fine, it was busy and we sat at the bar so our server barely paid attention to us. It wasn't too loud inside for a Sunday brunch but it was fine. Fajitas were pretty good, wish they were a little more charred but not bad, tortillas were great, salsa was good but also nothing special, and it was cold. I prefer hot salsa. Now - the star of the show - is their margarita. I got a blended regular margarita and halfway through I was feeling pretty good, super strong but not strong enough to throw me off. Although - it was also super pricey?? We went for lunch and got 2 margs, queso & lunch fajitas + 1 Togo margarita and it was $60? Kinda outrageous charging Houston prices for this place. read more

Went in about 5:30 on June 5 2019, a Wednesday. It wasn't really busy as we got there just before the dinner crowd. We were promptly greeted and seated and placed our drink order. Drinks came and we placed our meal order, all is well so far. Food arrived in a very reasonable time frame, and the waitress refilled 2 of the drinks of the group of 5. At that time we had to request more hot sauce. A few moments later the hot sauce was refreshed and that was the last we saw of our waitress until she brought us our bill. She didn't check on us at all. We could have used more chips, we definitely needed our drinks (tea and a beer) refilled, and we definitely would have said something about the bland food. In addition we might have ordered a dessert or two. We went in there hungry. We went in there with expectations of a good meal like we have received in the past. We ate the food despite being disappointed with the taste. I paid full price for the meal because we ate some of it. Unfortunately the lack of interest on the waitress's part kept her from earning a tip. read more

This is literally the worst Mexican meal experience I've ever had. We waited almost an hour for our table of 4 to get food. I knew something was up when 4 tables full of people beside us all got up & left their meal after only having a bite or two. Full plates of food being abandoned is never a good sign. When the food finally came it was cold on cold plates & my enchiladas had the texture of dog food ( chicken & cheese) gross! We had to ask several times for silverware after our cold food arrived & when we unrolled the napkins our silverware was filthy too. The waitress was unfriendly at best. Our water glasses were dirty with sticky soda all over the rim. We had to ask 3 different people for our ticket ( not the waitress b/c we couldn't find her) and the cashier couldn't check us out without it. This has pretty good mexican entree options with different alcohol choices! They are kid friendly and service is very good. The chips and salsa they serve at the start of the meal(comes as a complimentary) are fresh, crispy and spot on with spice level on the salsa. If you need more chips and salsa, they are happy to bring more to your table. The food isn't quite consistent in terms of flavor so I had to take a star off. Some days the flavor and texture are spot on, and other days not so. Nevertheless, I like their grilled fish with veggies on the side and beef with ranchero sauce. I have bought some lunches for my co workers and they seem to like all the foods they tried. There is no lock currently in women's bathroom, so I had a random lady walked into my toilet while I was doing my business. I let the manager know but I don't know if they have fixed that problem or not. A star off from this safety and structural issue. Overall, this is pretty good restaurant to eat your tex mex food and also sip on your margarita on weekend nights. read more

Not great at all. Frozen margarita wasn't frozen - barely cold - had to use my ice from my water to cool it down. Not worth the $6. Food was ok - not enough flavor in the combo fajitas. Kids meals are sufficient. read more

I love Los Mochis, so I had not tried this place since it opened. We were driving by and decided to get take out. We ordered the beef enchilada with queso and the beef ranchero lunch specials. The enchilada was pretty good. The beef ranchero was excellent. The beans seem to use less lard or are vegetarian style...which I like. The rice was a bit dry and salty. The salsa and chips were very good, better than Mochis. We will try them again! read more

Well, I just want to let you guys know what great customer service Don Lalos in Sulphur Springs has. 1. We called our order in and when it was time to pick up, it wasn't ready. After about 15 minutes, they ended up giving us someone else's order because they couldn't find ours and said that was the only call-in order they had. 2. After we already picked up, paid, and ate for our food, they call us and tell us that our order has been waiting for a while to be picked up. 3. BEST PART: When I tell the lady calling that we were already given the wrong order, paid for it, and ate it, she tells me, "NEVER ORDER HERE AGAIN!" Well, guess what, I won't! read more

Ahhh I love this place! They have amazing waiters that even memorize your order. We always try to get Diego or Jovany- seriously good at their job. The beef fajitas are the best I've ever had- so much flavor! We also love getting their Mexican tacos! We've tried the barbacoa, carnitas, al pastor and beef fajita and they're all amazing. Fun tip: request some spicy green salsa to go with your tacos to add some kick! Also their margaritas are good but sneak up on you so beware :) read more

The service here is the best of any of the Mexican food restaurants around. The wait staff is always attentive and kind. Overall, the service is worth 5+ stars. The steak tampenquena is great and so is the pollo tampico. The salsa is ok. The queso is pretty good. Overall, the food is worth 3.5 stars. The dining room is typically pretty clean. I really wanted to love this place because I love Mexican food. Honestly, this is the worst Mexican food I've had. We went on a weekday with a large group, so they were understaffed, understandably. They get some leeway there. But we waited so long. I mean between our waiter coming back to the table at all. We were there a few hours total,l. It took a long tome to get our food, but again, they were understaffed so I expected a wait. This was ridiculous though. Once we got our food I don't think anyone finished their plate. It was pretty terrible. I will honestly never even attempt to eat here again. I also thought the food was grossly over priced for the quality. read more

Great service. Food was average. I got the jumbo burrito with rice and beans. Cheese had a strange smell but it was good. Rice and beans were average. Ordered a frozen margarita which was awful as well as a coke that was flat. If I ever pass through Sulphur Springs again, I'd pass this by. read more

I used to really love this place. The last 3 or 4 times my family has gone here service has been really slowwwwww. Didn't used to be but it appears they are having staffing issues. I always get the La Familia Fiesta Nachos with beef fajita meat. This to isn't as good as it used to be, there is a lot less fajita meat on the nachos then it used to come with. The food is always decent but I'm afraid to say things are going down hill. Hopefully it gets better again, I've always enjoyed it here. read more

If you have a problem with your visit, don't waste your breath on asking for a manager. I have never been to Don Lalo's so my family and I decided to give it a try. We went on a saturday night and they really weren't as busy as neighboring restaurants. The hostess greeted up promptly but took 4-5 minutes of looking at a book while many tables were empty and other staff members were just standing around. Our waitress was really nice but throughout the meal, we saw her a total of 4 times. We had problems with our food but could never track our waitress down. Other wait staff ignored us when we asked. At the end of the meal we paid, but asked to speak with a manager. The hostess went to go get them and said they would be out shortly. Not once, but twice on her microphone, the manager asked if we had left yet and she replied no they're still here. We were so fed up we left. I would not recommend this place to anyone. And will warn people before they venture into this restaurant. read more
