I had to spit several bites out that I just couldn't chew anymore and didn't eat half of it all plus it had no seasoning. The daily special was fish tacos with cilantro lime rice, first the rice was inedible. It was like sushi rice, very sticky and mushy and lime just overwhelming. The tacos were a piece of fried catfish with pico, guacamole and salsa verde on flour tortillas. I've never seen fish tacos made that way before. The other meal was fish and chips and while it was a little better than the others it was just sitting in a big puddle of grease. I've ordered this previously at this restaurant and had a far different experience. I brought it to my servers attention and she brought the plate back to the kitchen, speaking with her manager. Picked up a to-go order and it exceeded my expectations. I got the hamburger steak with two sides and added a salad bar for an additional four dollars. The hamburger steak was delicious. I got mashed potatoes and green beans as my side. The gravy was on point. The green beans were also very good and had a little chunks of garlic. Each item was wrapped separately in foil and packaged perfectly to go. The salad bar was also nice with a lot of different options. customer service was also amazing. Our first time to try this place. We have attempted quite a few times in the past but it's always packed. Finally today, we were able to get seated right away inside. Fries were good and the tater tots were better. We also had the coleslaw, which was good. The rolls were great with the special butter, not sure what they put in the butter but it is really great! Our family was camping at Cooper State park over the weekend and we decided to venture into town to look around and have dinner. Corner Grub House was great! I know people say that it's hard to screw up CFS, but it's really not. It was well seasoned and the breading was crispy, not soggy at all. Mashed potatoes and white gravy were yummy and the green beans cooked al dente with a ton of garlic were fantastic! We stopped for lunch on Memorial Day. They only had 2 servers working and it was busy. But you would never know from the quality of service we received. Our server was friendly and helpful. Our food arrived quick and it was really good. And their patio is dog friendly which is always a plus. We're just passing through the area on our travels and found this place on Yelp. We ordered delivery to our hotel. I ordered the grilled shrimp, which comes with a choice of two sides. The steamed broccoli was good and the fried okra was typical battered Texas style. The shrimp (6 piece) was lightly seasoned, perfectly grilled, and delicious, and came with an option of cocktail sauce. The service was excellent, from the phone order to the delivery at our door about a half hour later, during the dinner rush hour. Kudos to this crew. Yums! I would definitely come back. I love the location and the food was satisfying. Hubby had the chicken fried chicken with tater tots and I had the grilled chicken salad.
