We hired attorney Nicole Torres during what became an incredibly stressful real estate transaction. We were facing serious inspection concerns, including extremely high radon levels, and were desperately trying to understand our rights and protect nearly $40,000 deposit being held of our hard-earned money. Instead of feeling reassured and guided through the process, we felt increasingly anxious and confused. We repeatedly asked questions because we were genuinely scared of making the wrong decision and losing our deposit. Rather than feeling like we had an advocate in our corner, we often felt dismissed when we questioned the advice we were being given. We were advised that our inspection contingency had expired (we later learned it had not) and that our deposit could be at risk if we did not continue moving forward. We were also led to believe that the radon issues did not give us grounds to terminate the contract as it was "not part of the inspection process" and that we had signed a contract "for inspection only".
