The doors are fiberglass and the manufacturing company told me it would take a major blow to crack and indent the exterior surface of this door. When I pointed out the damages to the jamb to the carpenter, I was told "it came that way." They did not come that way. It took 2 days for 2 supposedly experienced carpenters to install doors that they had to remove after fully installed to correct problems that kept the doors from shutting. They were almost almost an hour late each day. They took 3 to 4 cigarette breaks per hour. They were not prepared with basics such as screws of various lengths, tools needed to plane a warped area in the opening for the door, spray foam to seal gaps in spaces, etc. I reached out to the carpenter and he flatly denied any damage occurred due to their installation and work with our doors. No willingness to assume any responsibility for their substandard work. Use caution if you hire this company. We have to buy another door to replace the damaged one.

I needed to get someone to repair this fast and tried my roofing and siding companies, but they didn't do small jobs like this. I found Spectrum Home Services from a web search and saw some positive reviews, including a couple here on Yelp. I called up and left a message. Frank called me back within about 30 minutes and we discussed my problem. He said he would be able to do the job and asked for some photos so he could estimate. When I got home, I took the photos and sent them. I got a very reasonable estimate the next day and scheduled the job. I didn't have to wait too long for the job to be scheduled -- they came out within about a week. The worker who was sent out was very professional and did a very good job fixing both the outside and inside. It all looks back to normal, as though there was never a hole in the wall. He worked very efficiently and was finished within a couple of hours. Payment was very easy -- I got an invoice in the email and could pay online through Quickbooks. It's hard to find good companies who do small jobs around the house -- I definitely had a very good experience with Spectrum and would use them again. They are highly recommended. I'd definitely recommend Spectrum, they are professional and definitely worth the money.

The house had water damage as a result of bad HVAC job (by Bardi heating, cool. Another horror story that I want to share soon..). The damage caused mold issues. Concerned for my tenant, I contacted contractors I have worked with before but they were all busy so I had to find someone else. I went on Yelp and reached out to Kyle based on the 2 good reviews. The initial convo went well and he sounded like he runs a good honest business; I went ahead and scheduled for an estimate. He gave me a quote including bathroom ceiling "repair" and closet mold removal. I agreed and paid the deposit and he came to start the job the following week. During the job, he let me know he needed to cut out the drywall in closet because the damage can't be remedied. And also the ceiling in bathroom doesn't need to be cut and can just be painted over with mold-treating-resistant paint. I agreed and asked for quote. Also now that ceiling doesn't need to be cut and repaired, I asked to adjust the first quote. He was reluctant for reasons I didn't really understand (something about because I already paid half). So I asked him to adjust the new quote and he did. So he cut open whatever he thought needed to be cut open and left a fan there for few days to dry out the remaining moisture and painted over the ceiling. At this point, the tenant needed to be out of town over a weekend after he picked up the fan. I thought this is OK so we can observe there's truly no more moisture from HVAC. And we agreed we'll schedule for him to come back and complete after tenant is back. Then he basically ghosted us. The tenant was not able to reach him at all. I was able to reach him once and he told me he has been really busy. I told him I understand but I'd like for us to get on his schedule and he said sure. I asked the tenant to try him again in case he forgets. And she was ghosted. I called and texted him just to be sure. And now I'm ghosted. A week had gone by.. My last text to him is "we will reach out to someone else" and he did not respond. I think it's safe to say at this point he doesn't want to complete the job. I don't want to say I was duped and paid more than what he actually did. I don't know if he even did a good job with mold remediation and painted ceiling. I don't know if he caused more damage than necessary. I'm not a professional and I'm not even there to assess it properly. But I'll assume he did a fair job and I paid a fair price for it. It is the fact that he ghosted on us and leaving us a mess to deal with that had me give this rating. Now we're left with a closet wall cut open, ceilings unfinished, and water stains still not addressed. I cannot recommend him. UPDATE: Given the response from Kyle's family, I changed the rating. As I said, I did want Kyle to work out to have a good reliable contractor to reach out to as a landlord managing remotely. Unfortunately it did not due to the reason stated in the response. Given an opportunity, I am sure Kyle "can" make a better impression on other customer but I can only rate on my own experience. I do wish Kyle a speedy and full recovery and his family well.
