I think it's our first Turkish restaurant experience in Toronto. We like it very much! The store is small, but it's simple, exotic and fusion. It feels like a fast food restaurant combined with Turkish food. To be honest, I don't remember the meals we ordered that day. However, that also tells you that it's authentic. The meat was very flavourful. I smelled the spices immediately when they were served on the table. Eating the food with the yellow chilli peppers was a fantastic combination! We had a lovely dinner recently. We tried their Mix Kebab for 1, Etli Ekmek and Kazandibi for dessert. The meal started with a simple salad of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions with feta. Easy but delicious. The mixed platter had a base of rice and bulgar, piled with three different meats and generous portion of charred veggies. The chicken was the standout for me, as it was wonderfully moist and delicious. Actually, all the items were good, especially wrapped in the Lavash. The Etli Ekmek came with eight generous slices. Each piece was covered with topping and I like the super thin dough. The Kazandibi was a nice sweet treat to complete the meal. Enough for two people for two meals! read more

I did not like the doner here much. They used tomato sauce in it which isn't originally used in a doner and really threw me off. We got take out, the actually bun they used was good and fluffy but it was way too big I don't know what's up with Toronto making the doners ginormous. I wish I could find a doner place in the city similar to how it is made in Europe. Did not feel authentic at all. read more

We've been coming here a couple of times and decided to get some food to go. We got there at 10:15pm on a Saturday night and waited for 30 minutes for our food. Whilst others came and got their food within 10min. When the food came, they brought us the wrong order. Instead of making the order that we initially wanted, they offered us a 50% discount should we come back as the kitchen was closing within 10min. The Doner is MASSIVE and DELICOUS! Although this was a takeout order, the presentation is incredible with flourishing colours and a symphony of tastes. Check out all the toppings and goodies in this order. It took me 2 sit-downs to finish it all. The service was super nice and they could tell that it was my first time here, so they took the time to explain and suggest items for me. That was much appreciated. Okay, the food is great. I've been here several times and each time we get the Platter for 3, which is an awesome deal. When I've gotten it take-away it's been skimpy, but alright. The last two times I've come, within the past 4-6 months, the service has sucked. From a 4, since it's a clean, spacious place with good value (4/5- food is great and price is great) to a 3, because the service sucks. Anyway the platter for 3 serves 4-5 people at most and 3 super hungry people at the least. Picture attached. But man, the service sucks. Waiting forever just to get water, forgetting everything, not bringing enough tea for everyone (and my tea was way oversteeped), and the list goes on. Food comes pretty quick though. I am always on the hunt for pide ever since visiting Turkey. There are a few Turkish restaurants around GTA but a lot of them only have the grilled fare. Finally found this restaurant on yelp that showed pide and lahmacun on their menu! They recently changed their name to "Doner G"- I walked up and down Yonge street looking for "Istanbul kebab land", and asked if this was the same Turkish restaurant. They said yes and we sat down- busy busy place. Went on a Wednesday around 7pm and all the tables were full. The platters and the portions were huge. The grill platter for 2 had lots of different meats, which is good for a first time to find out which kinds you prefer. I brought 3 others that were having Turkish food for the first time, so it was great to try a bit of everything. I know that I like the meatball one so I ordered that as well separately, and it did not disappoint. The chicken and beef Doner felt a bit dry for my liking, and there isn't a lot of rice surprisingly for all that meat. The pide was just as I remembered in Istanbul- cheesy with a flakey crust. I recommend everyone to try it! Service is hard to say- they were patient but you can tell that they were busy and didn't really have much time to spend with us and I get it. The atmosphere is very casual like a fast food feel but I'm conflicted since the pricing seems like it should be slightly more upscale. read more

After a slight wait the waitress handed over a bag of takeout that was quite substantial in weight. Internally I was thinking, are you sure this is my order? I only ordered a wrap. When I went back to my car to check out the content the wrap was the size of a mini bazooka. There's definitely a slight hyperbole employed in my introduction but it was factual that the wrap at Doner G was 2x the size of wraps from most places. It was a steal at 9.99 pre-tax, especially with the amount of chicken they crammed into it. It even came with a mini salad which was not stated on the menu. The initial reaction - Four stars. Bold flavours. Chicken had the right texture. The wrap was nice and chewy. Half way thru it - three and a half stars. Still delicious but I had to grab a pop from the fridge. The circumference of the wrap itself was a bit big and some parts of the wrap had a really thick fold over it. 3/4 way through - Three stars. The amount of sodium is really getting to me. The wrap was way too salty. Although there were onions (I forgot to tell them to skip the onions so it was totally my fault), I really felt that they should put in more lettuce to counteract the saltiness and to give it the right amount of crunch . At that point (not because I was too full) I really couldn't finish the wrap due to the salt level. I really hate to waste food but I couldn't continue. I was also very thirsty after eating it... and that persisted even after the pop had been consumed. In Doner G's case I think the cliche "less is more" should be adhered to. Less salt... and yes... slightly less chicken and a reduction in size would do them wonders. read more

BEST TURKISH FOOD EVER. Hey foodies, this is by far theeeeeee best Turkish food I've had in Toronto, and trust me, I tried them all. I ordered from Uber eat once and I got hooked since then. Everything is super fresh, it's unbelievable.... and very very tasty! They are pretty quick with delivery as well. I just fell in love with all the dishes because they are super fresh, high quality and yummy. Try their pide for sure, I got the ground beef and mushroom and loved it. The chicken shish was awesome, the cold appetizer 'ezme' was to die for, And had a nice spice to it, i got cacuk and babaganush they were really good and the best part is they come with this fresh sly made, warm, amazing bread! I've never had that anywhere else, it's so fresh and yummy! I also got the doner wrap once, it came with a nice side salad (everything comes with a nice side salad) and it was a huge generous portion, with lots of nice fresh meet. Their desert, kazandibi is also to die for! I'd say definitely to there and try their food or order via Uber eat. I'm glad we have this amazing Turkish restaurant in Richmondhill right now. read more

Fantastic new Turkish place. Tried out a variety of their Kebabs and also the Doner and everything was great. Lots of veggies and a nice Salad as well as fresh baked bread included with meals. Overall very happy this place opened up and sincerely hope their quality stays consistent. Their Combo deals are a very good deal and let you sample a few of their items in one go. read more

Their place is quite spacious, design is ok. The food is ok as well for the price you get salad pita bread and rice. I ordered adana kebab rice was too salty and too buttery for me but i like the roast peppers and roast tomatoes. They also serve hot pita which will become hard when its cold so better eat it right away. I hope they also serve butter with pita. The service was quite fast. So it was an ok experience for me this restaurant was still new so maybe give it more time read more

We went to Istanbul Kebab land for a family dinner and it was marvellous! We got the 3 person platter, a soup, and ground beef and onions pizza. All the food was served in a timely manner. The platter consisted of chkn wings, kebabs, beef Shish and the shawarma meats. Served on a plate of plain rice and some other type of rice dish that was quite tasty. Plenty of vegetables included too. we all enjoyed the complimentary tea. The service is top notch considering how busy they were on a Friday night- they were very attentive. Pretty good, we got the mixed platter, shareable for 2 people for $40. was a great amount of food, took the extras home! I found some of the beef very tough to bite through, but the charcoal grilled meats were pretty tasty! The wings were huge but we could see blood coming out of it which wasn't very appealing... also, they serve you salad as a starter and a cup of tea complimentary. This is a great restaurant with a pretty atmosphere and lots of seating space. Service was fast and servers were all very polite, except the waitress charged us $5 for yogurt which she never mentioned. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with this new restaurant! Their starter salad was absolutely out of this world! The main meal was a huge portion for 2. Our group loved the jumbo chicken wings the most. My wife and I just had dinner here. We ordered the combination plate for two. 6 types of grilled meat. Everything was so good - beef, chicken and ground beef kebabs, grilled chicken wings, chicken and beef doner. Salad, rice and reddish barley like rice with onions and cabbage was oh so good. To top it off, scrumptious knefah dessert and lots of good Turkish tea. Just wanted to also say how great our service was, despite it being Mother's Day and it being very busy in the restaurant. The mixed grill here is the best I've tasted. We got the big sharing plate that came with everything and really enjoyed it all. Really liked the pies too. The staff is super friendly and helpful, we came here with some friends to celebrate a birthday. They were very sweet and opened the birthday song on the TV for us and even helped us serve the birthday cake at the end of the meal. This is my third or fourth time at this restaurant and each time we have a great time, will definitely come back and recommend it to more friends. read more

The food here is amazing, I've been here several times with different friends and it's always a hit. By far the best Turkish food I've had in the GTA. The meal came with bread and salad both of which were really good. Atmosphere is pretty relaxed and the seating is very comfortable, and they play interesting Turkish songs on the TV so the ambiance is quite nice. The Richmond hill location is absolutely amazing. We just celebrated my grandfathers 88th birthday and the service the employees gave was amazing. My grandfather was so happy! Food was amazing and at a great price. Great service is so hard to come by these days and these guys (all of them) went above and beyond while also serving others in the restaurant.
