Doner is my go-to late night food truck in Bloomington. The owner is great and the food is consistently excellent. I love their Gyro and the sides are always good. The seasoning on the gyro is amazing, possibly the best in town. (King Gyro is shockingly good) If you're looking for a late night bite and spot Doner, do yourself a favor and stop by. This is by far one my favorite food trucks in Bloomington. First the owner is a wonderful man who is incredibly amicable and friendly. Turkish food is easily one of my favorite cuisines and Doner Kebab nails it on the dot in terms of authenticity. My main order is the lamb gyro with their fries and The lamb gyro speaks for itself. This gyro is HUGE and comes with loads of color and flavors that explode in your mouth. The fries are absolutely amazing which comes with this seasoning that send it to another level. Nicest Guy in Bloomington, and Great Food! So says my IU grad student son. So when I came to town in July, a visit to Doner Kebab food truck was at the top of our mother&son to-do list. You gotta go, too! When you order, make sure you chat up Kebab Man. He not only makes good food and is super nice, but also he's quite funny. Son ordered the lamb gyro--awesome, of course. This is THE BEST deal in Bloomington. The gyros is HUGE. The toppings plentiful, and the pickled red cabbage is simply delicious. Believe it or not, the seasoned fries are THE BOMB. Hot, crispy, perfect. The man who runs the truck is a gem. Kind, helpful, patient, and very awesome at what he does. Not sure why this place is popular... This truck comes by our building in the summer, so folks go b/c it is otherwise a food desert. After much urging, I tried a chicken gyro. The meat was not chicken -- it was some soft slimy gelatinous mess, sliced into strips. Totally disgusting and gross and inedible. So, no. Don't order the chicken, it's nasty. Owner seemed sort of mean. Called everyone "my friend", but clearly fake and impatient. Will try it again and update if other things are better. But I'm afraid to try the other meat. Update: I just received a "compliment" from someone that said they were a friend or relative of the owner, and that the owner said I didn't like them personally and claimed that I was just trying to deter people from this business because of personal animosity. Not true. My review was based on my experience exactly as described. I have no idea who owns this business. You can read about my experience and judge for yourself. I would give the place a pass. But this sort of baseless accusation undercuts the whole Yelp review process. Why would we share experiences and reviews if it leaves us open to trolls? If you experience something similar, I urge you to report it, to keep Yelp civil, and functional. I have been hearing good things about this truck for months, and I am a huge kebab fan - so I decided to give them a try. It just so happens that my birthday (yesterday) fell on Food Truck Friday, so my husband and I jumped in the car and made our way across town to the Herald Times parking lot to get our kebobs on. We never attended Food Truck Friday when they were closer the downtown area, which is a shame, but it was nice that there was so much free parking in the Herald Times parking lot. When we finally stepped up to the truck, it was kind of hard to choose what to get at first since we wanted to try EVERYTHING. However, we decided just to get two doner kebabs (heat level 7) and an order of fries. First off: I can't believe how HUGE the kebabs were. I was really hungry after a day of work and was ready to throw caution to the wind, so I was not disappointed by the generous portions. Overall, the kebabs were tasty, and we really appreciated how fresh the ingredients were. The only slight snag was that it seemed impossible to eat at first, even with the aid of a (provided) fork! However, we managed to devise our own strategies: he ended up folding his like a burrito while I ended up nibbling around the edges. In addition, the fries were perfectly okay with some interesting seasonings on top, but they left me wishing that I had ordered something new and exciting to try instead. Oh well, I guess that's what repeat visits are for! In the meantime: I would suggest ordering heat level 10 if you're like me and want a little more of a kick in your kebab. It was hard for me to identify the heat at level 7, so I definitely plan on turning the spice level up to 11 if I get the chance. read more

Honestly some of the best food i've ever had while on IU-Bloomington campus. like top 3. love the owner. was introduced by a friend after a basketball session and i couldn't believe how good it was. I went the very next day and told him I love his food, he told me he makes the food with love and "after trying, you will not forget." He is 100% right. Also, he has great energy and very friendly.
