I laughed though because the bar was playing The Muppet Show on the TV. lol The dinner menu is expensive so I went for brunch. (I believe their brunch is from 10am-2pm on Saturday and Sunday.) I ordered brisket hash (crispy potatoes, cheddar cheese, braised brisket, chimichurri, eggs, toast) and it was outstanding, although expensive at $24. My server was wonderful - just a delightful soul. The customers at the table next to me ordered chicken and waffles and their food looked amazing.

The bar area itself was really nice with an elegant ambiance, comfy swivel bar seats, and a more upscale vibe. I also have to mention the restroom because it was impressive. Very clean with thoughtful extras like complimentary mouthwash, tampons, and a vanity area. Small touches like that stand out to me. I ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and it was delicious. I would absolutely order it again. My husband got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccolini. He said the meatloaf was okay but not the best he's ever had. I tried the broccolini though and really liked it. For drinks, I had the Wildfire Smash cocktail which I thought was good and my husband had the espresso martini, and he said it was decent. We enjoyed our experience at the bar and appreciated the friendly service. I'd definitely like to come back and experience a full dinner here sometime, noting that it's probably best to have reservations.

The parking lot is a mess and the sidewalks are crumbling. Chris is a small hole in the wall place, not fancy or upscale, but the food is amazing and Chris' family is welcoming and genuine. The menu hangs above cases of fried chicken, fish and potato wedges. Gizzards are a popular menu item. Chris takes your order. My husband wants a 3-piece chicken meal with cole slaw. I select a Buffalo chicken wrap that comes with fries. Ricardo, Chris' son, comes out and asks how spicy hot I want my chicken and I ask for mild. Wow, what great service! They tell us to grab some drinks and have a seat. The dining area is small with three or four tables that seat two. Most people come in for carry out. Chris laughs and jokes with a customer in Spanish as he cooks. I sip mango nectar. My husband's 3-piece meal has four pieces of fried chicken with a cup of cole slaw. The chicken is hot, crispy and moist, not too salty, perfect. The fried batter is thick and flavorful. This is great fried chicken. The slaw is finely chopped and creamy. My wrap with fries comes out on a beautiful white platter. The wrap is huge, and the chicken fresh, hot and moist with lots of crispy lettuce. The fries are batter fried and fresh. The portions are generous. My meal was delicious. Ricardo and his sister checked on us a couple times, thanked us for coming and told us their story. I felt like family. The food is easy 5 stars, as is the service. I'll be back. I want to try the fish next.

This pop-up happens in Studio C, a creative culinary wonderland that consists of private chef dinners, single daily meal specials, morning coffee and this sweet pop-up. When Amanda took to creating these artisan donuts, the city immediately flocked. Follow her on Instagram (@indydough) to see the different baked goods she cooks up each week. She usually makes donuts: think everything from cherry vanilla crullers to guava cream cheese old fashioned and black sesame glazed donuts. They're truly cooler than any donuts you've ever tried. I saw a post about white cheddar, green onion scones and immediately hopped on it. I messaged Amanda the night before the pop-up and she set one aside, as they usually sell out. This is the kind of place that you will have to arrive incredibly early to even have a chance at scoring a donut. There's a limited amount and they sell out in person within 30 minutes. They'll be a line outside before the place even opens. Go to bed early, get up early, and be ready to wait for the experience! Thank you Amanda! I gobbled up the scone so quickly and it was so, so, so GOOD.

I just so happened to come across them with a Tinker Coffee partnership. They were sadly out of most pastries, but we ended up with a galette-like tomato + cheese tart. It was so damn drool-worthy. It had a variety of colors of tomatoes. It was perfectly creamy from the cheesiness and salty from the buttery pastry. Can't wait to try more of their stuff and hope to see them do more pop ups downtown!

It was cool knowing…read morethat some part of the museum is free to the public, so it was nice to walk around after a light meal. This Japanese Pop Up ends on September 1st, 2019, so try it while it's there! The portion of the ramen is very small for $12 a bowl even though I ordered a large; it took 3 bites for me to finish the entire bowl. The broth was clear and refreshing, but it would be nice to have a little more flavor or salty to bring out the taste more. In the ramen had a slice of pork belly, egg, one small piece of seaweed and radish. It's nice that this museum has different pop ups every month that also brings the culture's food for people to try, but wouldn't go here just for food.

I have to be honest and say that the third "Pop Up" at the IMA was a little disappointing compared…read moreto the first two. Though I still like the idea of celebrating the cooking arts and their connection to specific cultures/countries around the world, I felt this one was a step down from commitment that the first two pop ups had. If you read the promotional information on the Newfield's website, it describes a "diner" and seems to promote a certain connection to "americana". But because of the open spacing and surrounding environment, there is none of the intimacy of a diner here. No aromas of fresh baked pies. There wasn't the commitment to the aesthetic as in the earlier pop ups. And frankly, the American Apple Pie wasn't my favorite. Too much spice (I smelled the nutmeg before taking a bite) and not enough sweetness to make me reminisce of days gone by. Fortunately, the scoop of vanilla ice cream added just enough sweetness to balance out the savory. And the bottomless cup of coffee was really good: full flavor, no bitterness, and served ready to drink. They also have other sweet pies, three savory pies, some gluten free and vegan options, and milk shakes (with and without booze). Understand before you go here that this is a fund raising event for the museum. So don't complain about prices because this isn't a regular business. The prices are clearly listed, so if you think it cost too much, that's your own fault for not preparing. Know that you have to pay for admission to the museum to be able to dine at the pop up as well. But once you pay, you can explore all the exhibits before or after dining here (including the outdoor gardens.) This pop up will be open through May 24th, 2020. Rev. #52
