I am updating my review considering recent events of Donna's rebuttal to my last and only intended review of her business. I have attached a picture of her statement for reference as I reported it and I assume it will be coming down soon. For full transparency, the only thing I blurred out was her use of my full name, which I do not think is an ethical business practice. Regarding what she said, I feel the need to do some fact correcting because she has a few inaccuracies of the event, as she continues to confuse me with other clients.
She is right in stating I was indeed a first-time client. I am sorry if it ever came across like I was stating that I was not. However, I never claimed to have put black box dye in my hair because I have only ever gone to a salon to dye my hair. I have also never actually dyed my hair black, but the darkest brown close to black. However, this is an easy mistake as the colors do look similar. Donna herself is the one to keep insisting I had box dyed my hair and I kept telling her that was not true, but she was probably confusing me with another client as she did on the day and in her next claim.
I never stated to have called a few different places. She was the only place I called. She is right in saying she tried to help with her color service, which is why regardless of the fact that I did not enjoy the end result I tipped her ten dollars because she did take the time to try.
She did in a way explain to me that it would take a few sittings, but only after the entire process was done, so that is half true. I did not refuse to cut my hair, I only simply declined getting layers that she kept trying to push on to me. I declined layers because I have curly hair and, in my experience, they have made my curls harder to manage, but I did tell her to please cut any and all dead hair away. The best part of Donna's statement is her claim that I was not paying attention. In my recollection, I was the only one who was alert as I kept having to repeat myself and correct her.
Her claim that I was on a site called "Good Gay People" looking for a date is hilarious to me for many reasons. 1.) I was only on my phone to text during the dye process where you are just sitting around, as I find it rude to be on the phone while the stylist is actively working. 2.) I was not and have never been on a dating app, so she must be confusing me with someone else. 3.) Although I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community I did not disclose that information during our time together because I do not find it relevant to express one's sexuality when getting their haircut. I also do not find it correct to out a person online in general, especially with no proof. It is just a fun coincidence that she is correct in me being queer. (Happy Pride btw) 4.) In looking it up no such site even exists. 5.) Regardless that I was not on such a site it does not bode well for me that she feels comfortable looking at clients' phones. That to me is an extreme breach of privacy. I do love the idea of Good Gay People as a name for a dating service and hope someone makes it an actual thing.
I do think Donna is right in she tried her best. I do not believe I am/was intending to hide behind a computer screen, and that is self-projecting behavior. I felt I left an honest, I will admit critical review in the safest environment possible, and that calling a client a cyberbully is taking it to an unneeded extra level. I am however glad I chose to leave a review online because she is clearly homophobic and as someone many years younger than her it probably would not have been safe to confront an adult who is a wildcard in how they will react, and I do indeed think she tried her best. I had no intention in destroying her business, especially a small town one, but I appreciate her critique on my hair being ruined. That is good to know. read more
