It's so nice to find a place to get a great haircut at a fair price run by two good barbers. The decor is a little quirky but I like seeing the old throwback items. Don's barbershop was small shop on Main Street with, what appeared, only 1 barber chair. This place had no website, but google was able to provide with enough information to accurately get here, including a chat with the owner. Don's barber is a walk-in only, no appointments, and the owner appears to be the only person working. Prices were some of the best in the industry at $14 (or $18). This location also does not accept credit or debit. So make sure to plan accordingly. I went on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was empty. Don was able to get me in and out of his shop in less than 20 mins. Although the cut could have used a little more detailing for a fade, I thought the price was fair. This place is hard to review. I walk in and see who I can only imagine is the barber/owner just sitting there on the chair in silence all creepy like. Dude doesn't say a word. I just sit and he starts cutting. Overall one of the oddest haircut experiences I've had. That being said it was $12, was a decent haircut and I was in and out in maybe 10 min tops. He cuts hair freehand (my trrm). Most barbers use the comb as a guide. They're slow and use the method they learned in barber college. Not Jim. Jim cuts hair freehand. He has a great eye. I'm a little embarrassed as I have lived in town along time but this was my first visit to Don's Barber Shop. It will not be my last. Walked in off the street, sat in the chair and was back out in about 10 minutes with a great cut. Did not like it. My fade was really bad. Can't even call it a fade really. Also I asked for a 1 for my fade but he used like 1.5 or something looked completely wrong. Then I just wanted a little of the top, he took way too much off and my hair was uneven in many spots. His techniques were not very professional either. He took like 10 min for the whole haircut too, no attention to detail. That's all I gotta say. Won't be going back had to go somewhere else to fix it. read more

What a fantastic treat of a barbershop. Extremely inexpensive with great service. This little gem is settled near downtown and filled with almost a treasure trove of military artifacts and history. I asked for a trim, no more than 1/2 ". I received a short Marine cut. It did only cost $9 but 3 weeks later I am still wearing a hat to hide the mess. Just proves that you get what you pay for. Sad. Been going here for years now and it has been on a downhill run for sometime. Jim is distracted by the new television on the shelf adjacent to the mirror. Never had somebody give me a haircut and watch television at the same time and a crooked and uneven haircut at that. I guess reruns of Gun Smoke are more interesting than the customers. Used to give him a hefty 5 or 10 dollar tip as he was trying to get the bar off the ground next door and he always complained about how expensive doing so was. He appeared to appreciate it but now he just comes across as mostly indifferent. Store hours have gone from posted and regular to posted and completely unreliable to simply unposted and unreliable. He wasn't in the shop until 11AM on Friday, that's way too late, I was made to feel like I was an inconvenience. At least his girlfriend is nice, does a better haircut too. I'm just not into that kind of customer experience though. Oh well, off to the Man Cave or elsewhere. Goodbye. read more
