She cut the bangs too high and crooked to the point that even my son was pissed. I would have tried to get her to straighten it, but was already having a hard time talking to her and it was so high that it would have just made him look worse. That said it was only 15 bucks. I've gotten $8 haircuts from places in strip malls and been a sucker enough to spend $39 for a cut at a hipster barber shop in Redmond. I've bounced around from stylist to stylist all throughout my 20's, regularly changing up my hairstyle because I couldn't find one stylist with quality and consistency. Hairmasters changed all of that for me and I've been coming here for about the last two years now. Granted, I still don't get my hair cut with any regularity, but when I do my stylist of choice at Hairmasters always gets it right. Their prices are beyond fair and even though I can only review them based on men's haircuts, five stars for sure. I also appreciate the abundance of different hair products and brushes available, but I'm a snob who prefers Hanz De Fuko and Suavacito so I generally skip their selection. They are very accommodating but it can get a little hectic trying to simply walk in. They are situated next to a major big box stores - parents with three+ kids in tow stop in all of time to see if they can get all their kids cuts immediately. I have very long curly hair, and generally only get a trim. This is why I am generally not particularly picky about going to a fancy salon. I have been to this hair masters before and always had a satisfactory experience. Nothing special, but they did a fine job on a simple cut. The last time I went in, an older man I had not seen there before did my hair. Not only did he do a pretty shotty job, he made me feel as though somehow I had put him out by paying him to cut my hair. He got gruff and sulky throughout the whole experience and basically treated me as though I was making him go through some sort of exceptional pain to cut my hair. All I wanted was a very simple straight across trim to cut a couple inches off. Were I able to access my own back, I could do such a cut on my own. The ladies there are generally kind and do a great job, but don't let this guy cut your hair. I have had 2 coworkers randomly bring up bad experiences with this same man. Terrible service from him. It's time for an updated review for this place! This is the store is next to Fred Meyer. I started going to this salon in late 2010 and have only had the manager, Deanna French, cut & style my hair. She does an awesome job! She has cut my husbands hair just right; and his is a bit difficult since his hair is a "retro"style. He hasn't found too many stylists who truly know the meaning of "feathered" hair, or are knowledgeable about 70's & 80's hairstyles like Deanna. I've been going to this location for a few years. This was the worst haircut experience I've had. I had an appointment, they took 3 other people, that didn't have appointments, before me (and they all came in after me) i wasnt called upon until 30 min after my actual appointment. Ronnie, my stylist, began by choking me out with my cape. Then, after she asked how i wanted my hair cut, she didn't say another word to me. The entire hair cut, she would constantly hit my head with the clippers and scrape me with the comb. I know she knows how to be more gentle, she had two other haircuts before mine. I will be finding another place to get my hair cut. One that has stylists that are more concerned about the customer than they Are about gossiping. read more

I don't have particular difficult hair to cut but I do have a technically demanding cut and my hair has a history of being difficult with taking color. I've been a bit slack about describing exactly what I want occasionally and been surprised by the details of the cut I've ended up with but I've NEVER had a bad cut here. I've only had the most wonderful color experiences with Deanna - she's a true artist! The other stylists seem adequate but I've only had a couple of them color my hair and they were fine but one of them had trouble fixing the color. I went in today looking to get my deadends cut off, and that was exactly what I got. I didn't catch the name of my stylist, but he was the only man working there to my memory, and for the most part it was a pretty great experience for me! He was great about checking in with me on how long I wanted it cut, did his job well, and basically didn't try to talk to me beyond checking in with what I wanted (I understand that that may be a minus for some people, but as I already get anxious having someone else's hands in my hair, it was actually a relief to not have to focus on holding up a conversation with someone). He worked very quickly, and though he was a little rough, I think that's mostly just because I had a terrible case of hat head before I came in, all of which he was able to untangle almost painlessly. Overall, I'm happy with the end result, and the actual cutting was one of the most relaxing cuts I've had in awhile. I will definitely be coming back when I next need my hair trimmed. read more

I had to find a place quick to get a hair cut before starting a new job. I had not had my hair cut for quite awhile and was so worried I would end up with someone insulting me about the condition of my hair. But instead, I found a stylist (Christa) who was helpful and postive and gave me a really great hair cut. She was all about making sure she was doing what I wanted, and even took extra time to flat iron my hair. I am a very happy customer and will go back. I had to take the time to post this because really good customer service is rare these days. Even the other stylist I overheard talking to their clients were so positive and it was all about making the customer feel comfortable. As the saying goes..you get what you pay for........ i went in to get my hair colored. it did look better then when i started but it wasnt really what i had asked for. i wanted a blonde color and it was much darker then the color i had shown her. she did forget to charge me for the conditioning treatment and now that i've washed it half a dozen times it doesnt look nearly as bad so i'll give her that. Came here to get my hair done for my daughters wedding, as my regular hair dresser was not available on a Saturday. I figured not much could go wrong...it is just hair. I have shoulder length hair and asked for an up-do with loose curls. It was pretty apparent after the girl curled my hair, she did not have a clue how to do an up-do. She tried several times to get the pins in before taking down and trying again several times. She finally interrupted another stylist who already had a client she was working on as she was had "wedding hair" experience. The 2nd stylist re-curled my hair and pulled it into a ponytail. Needless to say I walked out with a curly ponytail that cost me $35. I could have stayed home and did that myself. Thankfully the stylist doing hair for my daughters wedding fixed it for me when I arrived. My stylist was extremely nice...just did not have a clue what she was doing. Maybe next time make sure someone with wedding hair experience is working when you have an appointment on the books for 2 weeks. read more

Friendly service, great tips on hair care but I wanted a layered haircut and only got layers on the sides framing my face and not all over my hair. Never go to this place, never ever recommend this place to anyone especially the girl name Kim. While I was waiting for my appointment with the manager name Deanna (she was behind 20 minutes on her appointments that day) I was watching my daughter who was trying to get a haircut with Kim. Kim then told my daughter that she can't cut her hair becuase she have lice. I then got up where I was setting and asked what's going on, she (Kim) then told me that by law they can't have us in there salon because my daughter have lice. I was not very happy since Deanna would not cut my hair either without checking my hair too if I had lice. So Kim immediately brought us to the counter and tried to sell me with lice shampoo and conditioner and lice medication with a total of $58.00. I was shocked with the price and with what's going on with my daughter's so called lice... I refuse to buy the shampoo and conditioner and just pay $29.00 for the lice medication. Kim then took us outside and talked to us how to cure the lice and blah blah blah...and that by law we can't be inside thier salon. We were humilated...From there I then took my daughter to Monroe clinic and have the nurse check if my daughter really have lice. What makes me so mad was the nurse didn't find any lice but what she found out was my daugher's scalp was just very dry. By the way Kim wears glasses, maybe she needs to update her glasses so she can see better and for her to tell us that my teenage daughter have lice is not right. She huminalted my teenage daughter. And for the manager Deanna not checking it herself was not right too. I have a record from the clinic that says my daughter have dry scalp no lice... it shame on Kim and Deanna to treat us like we have a contageous disease yet the nurse could not find any at all....
