We ended up going with a nice mix: two glazed donuts, two blueberry cake donuts, a long john, and a half dozen donut holes. Everything was fresh, soft, and had that perfect melt-in-your-mouth texture. I was in the area today shopping and stopped to take some yummy donuts home. This place is small so you can see them rolling out the dough to make their delicious donuts. It's so fun to see the giant rolls of dough. The case had some huge treats in it that were as big as my head! It took a few minutes to decide what to get. I ultimately decided on 2 blueberry, 2 glaze, 2 chocolate iced glazed, 12 glazed donut holes and a chocolate iced cream filled long horn. All were soft and fresh even at 1:30 in the afternoon. But seriously, the shop is tiny and all business is done to-go -- either drive thru or pick up inside (no seating). I tried three different donuts and they were all amazing. The had such a rich flavor but also were light and airy at the same time. Prices were incredible as well -- my total was under $1 per donut. Fresh and yummy! I waited till my second trip to post a review just to be sure. My kid is in a play in Lancaster so I am here multiple times a week for a while and I think I'm in trouble. I thought they would last a while but my family of four killed them off in just over two days. There's not a huge selection of fancy styles. But the bases are covered like there's yeast donut with powdered sugar, granular sugar, chocolate covered, etc. And the same with cake doughnut. There's cream, custard, jelly, and lemon filled. Those are appropriately coated with powdered sugar, granular, chocolate, etc.. there are cream filled longjohns, cinnamon, buns, some topped with maple some topped with peanuts, cinnamon twist, yeast twist, apple fritters. Apple and cherry And more. I can't remember them all. The best thing is that they are really busy. They're open 24 hours. You can walk in at the counter and order or go through the drive-through. There is no place to eat in. But because they're so busy, they are constantly making donuts. Which means they are fresh! And even better they're not expensive. We had tried some great donuts at an event and were told they were from Donut World, so we decided to stop by and check it out for ourselves! It is a small building perched on a corner with a 24 hour drive thru. It looks like there is a small lobby for carry out. As others have mentioned, the drive thru line can get pretty long. The menu is located right next to the ordering window, so you have to skim the menu and order quick when you get up front, unless you look it up in advance. You really can't go wrong though - everything we tried was great! They have a long list of regular donuts, including glazed, cream-filled, jelly-filled, custard-filled, and powdered, plust a fancy donut list of cinnamon rolls and bismarks. There is soda, coffee, tea, milk, and orange juice too. We opted for several chocolate iced glazed, regular glazed, and a vanilla iced with raspberry jelly filling. This was our first time trying Donut World. We got there a couple minutes after they closed and they close at 8:00PM. They have a drive-thru that's open 24 hours. So we just went through the drive-thru. They have a sign on the side of the building with several choices of donuts. They had everything we wanted! (We've been to other donut places such as Jolly Pirate and Tim Horton's Donuts, and they don't always have a big selection available). This place had not only a big selection but, they were fresh donuts too. These donuts we bought after 8:00pm on a Friday night tasted so good and fresher than the so called fresh limited selection of donuts we've had from Tim Horton's or Jolly Pirate. The lady working the window was very friendly and a dozen of donuts was only $7.75! That's a great deal for great tasting donuts! The next morning the donuts still tasted fresh! They were not hard and stale like the other previous listed donut places. We will never go back to those places. We will definitely be going back to Donut World soon! It's worth the drive to get great fresh tasting donuts at a great price and with great friendly fast service. If you're in Lancaster, OH make sure to stop at Donut World. I first noticed this place a few months ago, while dining across the street. I ran short on time and traffic was picking up for rush hour, so I went on home, promising to return. Well, today was that day. I stopped through on my way back to Columbus after asking Lancaster residents about it and reading up on Yelp. Nothing but positive reviews. One person went so far as to classify it as a true to contender with Krispy Kreme and Duncan Donuts. Ok, the challenge had been issued... Like Krispy Kreme, it has a drive through, but you need to enter from the N. Broad Street entrance. I made the mistake of coming in from the adjacent street, E. 6th Avenue. That resulted in my making a 3-point turn in the small parking lot to get to the window. Consequently, they didn't know I was at the window because there is a sensor that trips and alerts them to your presence, if you enter the correct way and circle the building. I decided to park and walk in, so I could take my time with the selection. The donut list outside was immense and I didn't want to feel rushed or hold up any new customers in line, outside. When you first walk in, that smell hits you with a heavenly blast of "nasal nirvana" (lol). Seriously, it smelled great in there (yes, better than Krispy Kreme - THERE, I said it). I took a picture of the list, which I'll post in a minute, but man, that variety! The donuts looked scrumptious, as did the Bismarks. The Cinnamon Rolls were enormous!!! I was getting dizzy with lust, just looking at them. I honestly didn't have a clue what to get. Thankfully, Katie, the young lady behind the counter was an expert as recommendations. She knew the product thoroughly and told me everything about them: What was most popular, what was new, how they tasted. She was awesome! I also give her bonus points for her charismatic sales presence. She was a true angel. She got me through an assortment for a dozen and was very genuine in thanking me for my business. I made it home without touching any and broke the house rule by providing dessert before dinner. I did get to nibble on a few of them, just so I could tell you how I honestly felt about them. The glaze were from a fresh batch and boy were they good! I also loved the blueberry, white iced cake, raspberry iced and chocolate iced. The real hit was the ORANGE CREAM. I'm sorry, I zoned off, fantasizing about that donut. I don't know if they have any other locations, so make it a point to get down there and hopefully you'll get to meet Katie. Prior to this my favorite donut shop was Buckeye Donuts in Cbus, but frankly Donut World has surpassed even my old standby. The donuts are simply perfect. This is not a shop that has bought into the fad donut craze (thankfully!) and you will find all the classic donuts you could want. As many years as my family have lived in Lancaster (over 100+ years) I had never stopped into Donut World. So, the family took a day trip and Donut World was in the list! We went around 1pm on a weekday. We ordered two dozen and they were huge! My favorite was the cherry cake. But the maple cinnamon rolls with nuts were a close second. We weren't fans at all of the cream horns and were disappointed that 3-4 kinds that we tried to order, they were out of (especially that orange cream; we were also told they may not bring that flavor back, which was a big part of why we went there to try them ). It is nice that they are open 24 hours and next time we will try an early Saturday morning so hopefully more options will be available. read more
