They also failed to pick up the poop from their dogs. After complaining I was offered a$25 gift certificate, but they took back the $16 AARP discount I was promised! I paid $241 per night for an outdated, average motel room. The sunset is beautiful their, but definitely not worth the price! Also the restaurant which is owned by someone else, is only open three evenings a week. The condos are also owned by someone else, and not affiliated with the motel. I wanted to clear that up, because the description of the property is confusing!

I knew this place would be great when I stepped into the condo and saw that my bedroom had a giant jacuzzi tub in it. Plus a fireplace in the bedroom and the living room! The coziness and luxuriousness was turned up all the way to 11 here. My condo also had a balcony that faced east and overlooked Lake Michigan. I visited when it was snowy and cold, so I didn't get to sit out on the balcony, but I loved looking at the sun coming up over the water every morning. The condo had a full kitchen: refrigerator, stove and oven, coffee maker, dishwasher, bar counter seating, all of the utensils and dishes and cups and storage space you could desire. It was like a home away from home. Plus, there was a living room, small dining room, and a big bathroom, with a shower that had great water pressure. If I visited during warmer weather, I would have taken advantage of the pool outside. But I visited when there was snow on the ground, so the pool was closed, obviously. They do have a gym here. I was able to visit the fitness center each day of my stay, and it also has a dry sauna! I didn't use it, but I love that they offer a sauna. Inexplicably, the fitness center also had a bookshelf full of books that you can borrow. The woman at the check-in/check-out desk was lovely, and gave me lots of good tips about the local Door County scene and suggested that I visit a local bar (Bad Moravian), which I ended up visiting and loving. The front desk also has a big bowl of chocolates, so make sure you grab a handful when you stay here.

The doors didn't line up either making it impossible to open them fully. If you don't mind dealing with some of the issues that come along with an older building, this one definitely has a wonderful view and some convenient amenities.

A small kitchenette, bathroom, couch, table, a good size bed and a whirlpool tub. That was very relaxing after the long days of hiking and walking. They had an indoor and outdoor pool, tennis courts, grills if you want to cook and it was very easy getting to my room. It was not peek time so they were not super busy yet. The Inn is right in the bustle of town so its easy to walk for shopping, different restaurants, going to the water (etc) but you never hear any noise inside of our room. Thorpe House is reasonably priced if you're celebrating something like we were. It was like stepping back in time but nothing felt dated. They fill up really quickly so get a room booked as soon as you know when your trip is! We will absolutely come back the next time we're in the area!

That part was understandable. What wasn't understandable was the complete lack of communication about the replacement trolley ride being one‑way only. We were dropped off and left to walk back to the B&B in bitter cold temperatures with no warning. Breakfast was another disappointment. What was served tasted reheated and stale, like it had been sitting around far too long. And the truffles we ordered -- which should have been a special touch -- were stored in the laundry room and all tasted like detergent. For the price and reputation, we expected a warm, welcoming, and well‑run experience. Instead, we left cold, frustrated, and extremely let down. We won't be returning.

Oh wait let me say that there was a basket for pets! Dog bowls, a bag of treats, a bed and a blanket and a beloved tennis ball. So sweet. The bed and bedding was comfy with plenty of pillows. Larger room than usual in my experience. Plenty of entrances and ways to the outdoors, front desk and dog park. It is very welcoming, even during a snowy storm and cold. there are areas with comfy chairs outside with a gas fire pit that is toasty. I was surprised but it was quite nice and warm! We stayed again in January for some ice fishing and the dogs knew right what to do and where their treats and ball were. Throughout the whole hotel, there were pet decorations and just really cozy. Very clean and upkeep was amazing. The property is beautiful. They do have a small amount of wine and beer at the desk, pizza that they can make you if you're stuck in and snacks. Prices are very reasonable and convenient. Oh yeah, there is a really cute, nice pool area. We didn't use it but I would recommend it! Highly recommended! She gave us good recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the area. The grounds are very well kept and every cabin has a view of the lake. We stayed 4 nights in September in cabin #4; the a view from the living room is included. Try Sister Bay Bowl for a wonderful fish dinner and be sure to climb the tower in Peninsula State Park. The tower was recently rebuilt and includes a ramp to accommodate strollers and wheelchairs. The White Gull Inn, just down the street, has won awards for their stuffed french toast. The Cottages are in the heart of Fish Creek so walking to your favorite destination is very convenient.
