Wow! That's my one-word review for Edgewater. I stayed in one of their small condos while I was visiting Door County, and it was a spectacular experience. I knew this place would be great when I stepped into the condo and saw that my bedroom had a giant jacuzzi tub in it. Plus a fireplace in the bedroom and the living room! The coziness and luxuriousness was turned up all the way to 11 here. My condo also had a balcony that faced east and overlooked Lake Michigan. I visited when it was snowy and cold, so I didn't get to sit out on the balcony, but I loved looking at the sun coming up over the water every morning. The condo had a full kitchen: refrigerator, stove and oven, coffee maker, dishwasher, bar counter seating, all of the utensils and dishes and cups and storage space you could desire. It was like a home away from home. Plus, there was a living room, small dining room, and a big bathroom, with a shower that had great water pressure. If I visited during warmer weather, I would have taken advantage of the pool outside. But I visited when there was snow on the ground, so the pool was closed, obviously. They do have a gym here. I was able to visit the fitness center each day of my stay, and it also has a dry sauna! I didn't use it, but I love that they offer a sauna. Inexplicably, the fitness center also had a bookshelf full of books that you can borrow. The woman at the check-in/check-out desk was lovely, and gave me lots of good tips about the local Door County scene and suggested that I visit a local bar (Bad Moravian), which I ended up visiting and loving. The front desk also has a big bowl of chocolates, so make sure you grab a handful when you stay here. read more

Quaint older place with a fabulous lakefront view and a number of onsite amenities. Despite the peaceful location, we were never able to fully relax because the windows (which faced the main drag) didn't lock properly. We were told this was due to the building being so old, and that we should have called for maintenance every time we wanted to close/secure them. (We ended up propping oven racks and a cutting board inside the window tops to prevent them from being opened from the outside.) The doors didn't line up either making it impossible to open them fully. If you don't mind dealing with some of the issues that come along with an older building, this one definitely has a wonderful view and some convenient amenities. read more

This was our first time staying here and we will certainly come back! The staff was wonderful-helpful and accommodating. We rented a cabin which was updated and had everything we could possibly need. (Note that if you are a large person, you will find the shower a bit small) There was a fish boil every evening and it was so good, we went back a second night! The property was very quiet and there was lots of grass for our little dog. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to our next visit. read more

This is a nice coastal town hotel that sits scenically adjacent to the lake but across Highway 42.  We were again lucky to get a room up here during this peak fall week as it's a prime property in a prime location, and best of all for us, it's right next to The Old Post Office Restaurant where we had booked a traditional fish boil dinner.  I booked this place only 2 weeks in advance, and was actually happy to pay probably 2x the normal rate for the only room available.  The stay does not include any breakfast as the only restaurant on the property is the separately operated Old Post Office Restaurant which does also serve breakfast.  The setup is also a bit more akin to a motel as there is no real central lobby, but just a small check-in room they call a lobby, and which we had a little trouble actually finding, ha.  Vivi was the friendly receptionist and she readily accommodated an early 1:30pm check-in for us (I called ahead) versus the normal 3:30pm check-in time. The room was spacious and comfortable and a lakeside door opened to a common walkway with a gorgeous view of Green Bay/Lake Michigan.  I'll go with 5 stars but it's on the basis of ignoring the cost.  When it's peak season and you've decided you want to be there, and there's no rooms in town, cost becomes kinda secondary amirite?? read more

My husband and I stayed at this resort in early June. Room seemed okay. It had everything we needed, however the floors were not clean. My socks were so dirty, that I ended up throwing them out, also TV in bedroom did not work. We called many times to have it fixed. Once a women came up to our room and said it was all fixed. Well it wasn't. Finally, on the last day of our stay the manager fixed it. The air conditioner in bedroom only worked on highest temperature, which made the room unbearable to be in, plus there was a gap in the window by the air conditioner, where bugs came in. They have fish boil's which are great, but not so great if you need a parking space, after coming back from somewhere. Very overpriced for what we got. For the price we paid, you'd expect better. There are nicer places to stay in Door County for less money Nice view though from our room and balcony. read more

Very nice place but terrible wifi. Up here in door county cell reception is non-existent so if you need access to the real world during your stay skip this place. Note to manager providing wifi throughout your hotel is cheap. Spend a few dollars and improve your customers experience. read more

We stayed at the Edgewater Resort near the end of April so the prices were quite affordable. We were not offered any breakfast options. Our room was on the first floor facing the water. We had a door to the front patio which was beautiful. It was small with a queen bed. The bed was not comfortable and the pillows were horrible, but it was a clean room. I think I would try staying at another place due to the lack of comfort. read more

I went up for a long weekend to spend some time in the famed Door County and was not disappointed. The Edgewater Resort was perfect and the view from my room (301) was amazing. I had my own private balcony, fireplace, and a large living area. I have never seen stars quite like up there sitting on the balcony. It was breathtaking looking out over Eagle Harbor every afternoon. Can't say it enough. Amazing views! Perfectly located within Door County and close to Fish Creek, but most importantly Peninsula State Park. My only comment, but again I gave it 5 stars, was the furnishings in the room. It was a bit dated, but still cottagey feeling and perfect for my needs. I parked right next to my room and was so close to everything I didn't touch the car for the rest of the weekend. Felt like moving there after the amazing weather and weekend. Most relaxing trip ever and perfect for an overworked professional to de-stress and spend some time forgetting about spreadsheets and meetings. read more

Our lodging experience here was very nice. We paid a pretty penny for staying here three nights on a recent trip, so I feel I have the right to be picky. While I was impressed with much of the experience, there were a couple of gripes: 1. The maid service came after our first night and did a great job making the bed, replacing the towels, and replenishing our coffee supply for the next day. However, after the third night, no maid stopped by. As a result, on our last morning we had no coffee (had to go out to get some because we're addicts), no clean towels, and no toilet paper! (Luckily we found an extra roll under the sink). 2. The Wi-Fi/Internet was, like, dial-up speed. SLOW. My Yelping was severely restricted as a result. :( 3. Although we weren't planning to swim, we were surprised that the pool and hot tub were not open on Memorial Day weekend. Had we had children with us, I think we would have been disappointed by this. All in all though, the room was beautiful, and I was surprised by how nice our accommodations were. It was fun to cook in a hotel room! We also liked the fireplace in our living room. We stayed in studio cottage 128 for three nights. This unit is not luxurious but has the necessities of a great base camp for all of your Door County activities. E.g. clean, comfortable bed, good shower, refrigerator, microwave and access to all the resort amenities. read more

Stayed here for a couple of nights during high season in one their prime rooms and it was very nice experience. Vevie at the front desk was super friendly and gave a good vibe as we checked in. The suite was a top floor unit facing Green Bay and the evening sunsets were magnificent from the balcony. The unit was clean and had all of the expected amenties. The pool was immediately adjacent and the Post Office restaurant was right next door. The location was perfect as the walks to the nearby eateries were very short. Would stay here again. read more

Beautiful!! I LOVE this resort. It is right on the bay and the rooms are bright, open, and beautifully furnished. My husband (at the time boyfriend) and I booked a suite which included a beautiful little kitchenette, a fire place a MASSIVE king-sized bed and whirlpool tub. We loved it so much we decided we would have our wedding there. We scheduled for late April which was just before the busy season and the owner and staff were FANTASTIC. Anything we needed they helped with, including getting enough chairs on their upstairs balcony for all our guests. They even made sure we got the exact room we'd originally stayed in... How romantic is that?? I originally wanted to elope, but considering how beautifully the wedding turned out, thanks to Edgewater Resort, I am SOOO happy we decided on a semi-traditional wedding. It's worth a trip from anywhere in the country to stay at this beautiful resort. read more

Excellent hotel, one of the best in Door County. Excellent rooms, friendly staff and the restaurant is perfect for breakfast and fish boils. Love the view and the generous amount of space you get including a full kitchen. It seems some of the comments from prior reviews are a bit out of date. I stayed in a King Deluxe Waterview 2 room suite, and the decor is generally up to date. (Thankfully no pink bedsheets that the reservation system shows in the sample room photos.) I ran a speed test on wifi and got 20mbps down and 7mbps up. Granted the hotel was maybe 1/3 occupied (end of season), but internet has been quite usable. Verizon service is 4G full signal ("extended network"). AT&T is spotty. There are a few things that could use improvement. The gym is pretty basic (no treadmill, three or four pieces of equipment total), the front desk closes at 9pm in season and 5pm out of season, and with a connecting door it's easy to hear your neighbors. Overall, though, I'd come back for a longer stay if i were in the area again. read more

This is the place to stay when visiting the northern door peninsula. Centrally located between Sister Bay and Fish Creek, this resort offers homey suites as well as cottages. The amenities are substantial including a kitchen, whirlpool and fireplace in every condo. Take advantage of an outdoor pool, breakfast at the Old Post Office and a fish boil during the summer months. You will not beat the scenic view nor the sunsets that happen literally across the street! Walk to local restaurants and boat rentals. A horse drawn carriage passes nightly:-) The staff is wonderful, reliable, trustworthy and anxious to please. We have been coming here for the past 6 or 7 years and couldn't be happier. Special thanks to staff for recovering and returning a camera backpack with expensive equipment that I had inadvertently left behind. I cannot thank them enough! read more

Such a bummer. We had a nice stay. Was a quiet room, even right above the pool. This was the shocking part... we were running a little past 11am, needed maybe 20 minutes to get out of the room. The front desk called right at 11 and when we asked for a few extra minutes, they said"no." They also said that housekeeping was waiting to get in our room. When paying $335 per night before tax, I'd expect just a few minutes wiggle room. The bummer is that it put a damper on the end of our nice visit here. The checkout time should be clearly posted and say "absolutely no exceptions" and we would have planned our breakfast to be less urgent. All it says in our confirmation email is 8-11am. Nowhere does it say "no exceptions." My partner and I have stayed all over the world at all price points. Neither of us has ever been summarily dismissed when, on occasion, we ask for a later check-out. We don't abuse the privilege and expect to be treated as only asking when it actually makes a difference. I wonder if we had told the front desk staff person, that I had fallen during breakfast, scraped my knee, and needed a few extra minutes to get out, which was the truth, if that would have made a difference. When you have people paying so much for lodging, hire an extra staff person for the crunch times. The lack of employees, which the front desk person made clear as a source of the problem, should not be the problem of your guests. Recommendations: 1.). Insert a statement "absolutely no exceptions" in your materials. 2.). To the extent there is not a housekeeper actually standing at the door, make even a 20-minute exception, and don't tell guests "housekeeping is waiting to get into your room" unless that is actually true. 3.). Decide on whether both check-in AND check-out are "no exceptions" policy, announce it and enforce it. Then don't ever let anyone check in early or late, lest you be accused of discrimination. 4.) Consider an "every extra hour will cost you $50" policy and hire more staff. Sadly, we won't stay here again and will not recommend it to others. The way this policy was handled from reservation to post-check-out was poor enough to sullen what was a lovely moderate-value room. My review would have been four stars, without the ending. read more

My husband and I spent 5 days here last summer. We had a different itinerary each day. This was a wonderful home base for us. We were on the top floor with a beautiful view of the harbor. The suite has a full kitchen, family room with fireplace, bedroom with jacuzzi tub. No elevator was the only drawback. Old Post Office Restaurant next door does nice fish boils and cherry laden breakfasts. read more

Stayed for the week for a regular annual family reunion. The location was excellent and the water view superb. Housekeeping though left much to be desired. Our room faced the water so we dealt with mayflies, which is unavoidable at the lake. However, they'd swarm in at night, fall from the ceiling and die overnight on the floor, tile, tables and windowsills. The first 3 days of a 7 night stay they were attended to. Days 4-7 housekeeping did not take care of them, or vacuum, or make up the air mattress we were using, or clean cobwebs from the corner. I don't expect 5 star accommodations at the lake, but I do expect clean and this just didn't measure up. read more

This was an excellent place to stay for two nights. There was my wife and our dog. Stayed in a cabin. Immaculate. Efraim is a perfect location and this was our best stay in Door County ever. We were able to have one meal in the cabin and chose to eat elsewhere rather than cook. The Staff was terrific. Highly recommended. Only thing missing was a view of the lake but then we were in a cabin rather than the main building. Our choice. read more

Incredible view. My husband and I loved this hotel. We had a suite with a balcony, full kitchen (complete with plates and cooking implements), hot tub, living area, and bedroom with a king bed. Watch the sunset from your room. It is incredible! My one critique is that our bed and mattress were creaky. I think it's time for those to be replaced. But again the view was spectacular. My husband and I have stayed here a couple years in a row now and love it! It's a perfect location - just outside the very touristy/busy Fish Creek and not as far North as Sister Bay. The suite rooms are tastefully decorated, rspacious, rooms are always clean, and complete with a jacuzzi tub, comfortable bed, and full size kitchen/appliances. The Old Post Office restaurant is next door and the hotel offers you $10 gift certificates to be used daily there. Great, unobstructed views of the water too. I would have given it 5 stars if they had a repeat guest discount. Hotels in Door County can be quite pricey in the summer and it would be great if return customers were rewarded for their loyalty :) read more

Excellent! We stayed here for a weekend getaway for our anniversary in December. We had never been to Door County but had always heard great things..and we saw it as a groupon so figured why not. We had a beautiful suite complete with jetted tub. It was very clean, complete with complimentary basket full of different food items. We stayed at the Edgewater Resort to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The location is very close to the water, other small cities and Peninsula State Park. The water view suite we had was modern and clean. The double fire place with views from both living area & bedroom and the large in room hot tub were both relaxing. The in room gift of bath salts & loofa was nice. Our suite had a full kitchen which was convenient. The king bed was comfortable. This is a very nice resort and the staff was friendly. There are a few changes the resort could easily make and I would have given them a 5 star review: The bedroom needs to have room darkening shades and/or drapes installed. The outdoor lighting on the property is so bright that the room is very bright at night. It is difficult to sleep in a room that is daylight bright! Seriously, just adding this would be awesome! The bed pillows were hard so pillow variety could be improved. The couch in the living area is a pull our sofa so not conducive to relaxing. A recliner would be a bonus. That said, we enjoyed our stay and would return if some changes were made. I will check back with them in a few months... read more

The reason this property only gets one star is for their lack of communication, false information and greed. I stayed here for one night and during registration, I was offered a "special discounted rate". In fact, they told me it was an error in their system, but that they would honor it. (I wonder how many times they tell this story to potential guests.) After too many hours in the car, and no mental energy left to do any research, I took it (but didn't like it). I did ask for a discount, which they denied. To our surprise, when we swiped our key-card to enter our room, we noticed that the room was already occupied.... unless housekeeping decided to not tidy up. (Guests were not in at that moment .... imagine if they were!) It took some effort and time to figure it out, but we were eventually given an unoccupied room. I recovered from the road trip, did a little research and quickly found out that they had a rate $60 less .... for the same room! I have since written to them twice about this, asking them to honor the "real" discounted rate and no one has replied. (Hunh!) I absolutely hate being gouged and lied to, and this is a prime example. read more

My niece loved her first trip to Door County last year, so I offered to take her again this year and she chose Spring break. Yes, it's off-season, but I thought the last week of March would be temperate. Was I ever wrong! We drove up from Chicago in rain that turned to sleet as we drove north and we arrived in 28 degree weather with sleet coming down and a fresh six inches of morning snowfall adorning the resort and most of Door County. Wow. We were greeted most pleasantly, given a lifesaving list of the few Door County restaurants open during March and directed to our room, #217, at the north end of the property. Literally, we were nearly alone on the property, with only a few other occupants mid-week, long before tourist season. But the morning's snow was cleared and salt was down in the walkways. We climbed the outside stairs to the 2nd floor and walked the balcony, rounding the corner to a drop-dead view of the (solidly frozen) harbor, and it turned out we were in front of our room, which meant this was our view from the living room window! Excellent. The door opened onto a charming and very welcoming living area, with a comfy couch (turns out it's a pull-out) and chair, a full-size kitchen table in a separate area and a small, efficient kitchen (with a dishwasher - I love you, Edgewater). We immediately turned on the fireplace and tv and felt like we were home. A quick look at the bedroom found pleasant décor, a huge king size bed and that same harbor view from the large window. A big jetted tub shares the room, which is fine for the romantically inclined, but too exposed for a couple of friends traveling together. The sink/mirror are in the bedroom, while the toilet and shower are in their own tiny room/space. Nonetheless, everything is managed very efficiently and the bedroom area feels huge because the tub area has no walls. We literally heaved the bedroom armoire a couple of inches into the room, because the bedroom door bounced off it. Bed placement makes it impossible to watch the tv in the armoire, due to a bedpost being smack in the middle of the screen, but we barely turned the br tv on in the three days we were there, so it wasn't an issue for us. Pros: Truly pleasant staff, helpful and responsive. Very, very clean, bright, happy place with pleasant décor. Kitchen has everything you need: microwave, dishwasher, dishes, cups, coffeemaker, coffee (!) and tea, a freezer... so very nice to have all of it there. Bed's huge and comfortable, water's hot instantly. Cons: Blew out two hairdryers. two? Something's wrong, either with the dryers, or the electric. Intermittent cable tv, maybe due to the weather? There's a disconcerting hump in the pre-fab floor outside the bedroom door and the on/off switch and timer for the fireplace is installed upside down. These are very minor things, but it would be nicer if they could go away. I will definitely go back, but something tells me it's going to be hard to book a room during tourist season. This place is high on the list of desirable lodging in the Sister Bay and Ephraim areas. Regarding pricing, the groupon we used was virtually the same price as their March promotion, so it's useful to know the off-season website discount is pretty much the same offer. read more

I called Edgewater Resort this morning and spoke to the GM Debbie. She put me on hold for 15 minutes and then accidently hung up the phone on me. I called back and she was rude, didn't even apologize for hanging up. She said she didn't have time to answer my questions about the resort and when I was interested in booking 2 weeks out she said she didn't have her schedule ready. WTF? Poor customer service. I would recomend staying at a place that has time for you, not Edgewater. read more

My fiancee and I just recently stayed at the Edgewater Resort, we actually got engaged while staying here! It is a perfect Ephraim hotel, right across from the water, beautiful views of the bay of Ephraim. We got a great deal on a basic room through Expedia, which I think is only available off season. You can't find a hotel like this with views like this at such a low price. It was great. Our bed could have been a little more comfortable, although we are both picky about our mattresses :-) read more
