My girls had a blast here. The splash pad facility is so impressive. There are two huge play areas with tons of sprinklers, buckets and water tables. One area is a little bit better for smaller kids so it's nice that they have two different options. The best part about the splash pad is the reservation system. You must make a reservation online, and you have a 1.5 hour time slot. Splash pads can get packed on a hot day, so this was a great way to control the crowd. Once your time is up there's an enormous playground right next door. There is so much to see and do that you could easily spend hours here without getting bored. Overall this is a fantastic township recreation area. It's clean and well-maintained, and there are endless play options for kids. read more

This is one of the cleanest parks I have walked through in Monmouth County. There are trash bins everywhere and 2.3 miles of paved trails for you and your family to enjoy. The trails are perfect for walking your furry dogs, in-line skating, cycling, easy walking and pushing strollers. There is also a repair station with a tire pump and tools found near the basketball courts. The Challenger Place has finally finished and is a designed playground for kids who are blind or visually impaired. Their sport courts include tennis and basketball courts, as well as an in-line skating rink. The athletic field is available for rental and may be used for baseball games but not for practices. I have heard they have swimming pools but I personally did not see it. Instead, I saw a spray ground (water-enhanced playground) which was to open in mid-May but given our current situation with the COVID-19 outbreak, this is doubtful for mid-May 2020 due to the pandemic restrictions. Normally, it would open mid-May through early September. I would imagine the busiest time to be there with kids is during the height of summer because summer camps are held there by the Monmouth County Park System and Challenged Youth Sports from Middletown. read more

This is a great Park for families and kids. This park is full of open fields for sports, sand box, large playground for the kids, and seating all around for adults. I believe there is also water activities, but we mainly stayed by the playground. We went on a Saturday afternoon to bring our daughter for some fun. It was incredibly busy and packed with kids and adults. Some chose to bring foldable chairs and sit right in the middle of everyone and some chose not to watch their kids, but it was a great time other than that. Plenty of parking and space for the kids made this a great afternoon stop for our daughter and family. The Park is extremely easy to find as well. COLTS NECK: Dorbrook Recreation Area is a beautiful park with over 2 miles of paved walking paths. Brie loved exploring the trail on a picturesque autumn day. You can see the Swimming River Reservoir from various points on the trail and doggie bags are provided. It's so nice spending time outside without the humidity! read more

The playground and splash area was so much fun for my 2yr old. There is a fun little sand pit in the playground area. I recommend bringing some buckets and pails for both the sand and water play area. I saw a few kids who didn't have their own looking forlorn. The playground equipment is in pretty good condition with some interesting activities. The sprinkler area was great but several of the sprinklers were defunct. Hopefully they will be repaired for next summer. We went on a Monday afternoon and there was ample parking. It was a really hot sunny day so all the shady benches were taken but if you have your own blanket or chairs you can find a tree to relax under. There is also a snack shack between the restrooms and sprinkler area. read more

Dorbrook Park is part of the Monmouth County Park System & a fantastic place to take a hike. There are tennis courts, a baseball field & skate park in addition to the paved trails to walk or ride your bike. Want to bring the kids? There is also a wonderful 'spray ground' & a playground for the land lubbers. They offer many activities for adults & children for a very reasonable fee. A brochure can be located online or at any of the affiliated parks with details. We have taken advantage of kid's swimming lessons, summer camp, cooking classes & rollerblading lessons. I find it to be by far one of the cleanest parks I have visited, & I've visited quite a few. I highly recommend a visit on a beautiful day. You won't regret it! read more

This is a great park in Monmouth County which if you didn't know has a lot of great parks! I primarily go here with my son so he can use the spray park in the summer. The spray park is clean and is a ton of fun for the kids. It's usually fairly packed but everyone can still have fun. Some of the kids can be a little overbearing for my son who is much more laid back but the park is also big enough where you can just go to a different area and get back to splashing and having a good time. The park also has nice walking/biking/running trails, hockey rink (roller), fields, basketball couts and more. Most of the usage is free for all of these things as long as some other event isn't scheduled to use it. If you have kids and want to get them outside to have a good time this is a great place to go. What a nice playground, the place is huge! Your kids can play all day they will love it and it will become their favorite place! It is beautiful and clean! The only issue is, there is not a lot of shade so the equipment gets extremely hot! The park also has a spray ground which is wonderful! It's free, and between the two and a picinic you could make a great day for your family! During the summer there is always and ice cream and snack truck there. read more

When I am home visiting my family this is the place I always go to get my walk on! Two times around this bad-boy and I am feeling good! I love the hideaway trails down to the water. The views are beautiful and serene. I love taking my Aunt's kids to the sprayground in the summer when it is hot. They have a ridiculous amount of fun splashing around and making friends. This park is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are clean and well maintained. The playground is amazing and has a very soft surface for the kids instead of mulch. There is so much for the kids to do. The spray park was also a good size and was clean and well maintained. We went on a particularly crowded day and we didn't feel like we were stuffed together like sardines in the spray park. Yes, there were some obnoxious kids whose parents were nowhere to be found to correct their behavior but the park did have staff continuously monitoring and "parenting" those kids. In addition, despite being fairly crowded there was ample parking and easy walking access to the playground and spray park. Five stars without a doubt. read more

I love this park. It is awesome. It has everything from a clean spray ground area for the kids, as well as a regular play ground, many picnic tables and plenty of running around room. I love spending the day there with my kids. It is a safe friendly environment to bring the family and its FREE. :) I pack a nice picnic lunch, drinks, snacks, changes of clothes for the kids, a blanket and we are all good to go. It is the perfect spot to spend a day with the family. Just get there early to get a parking spot. read more

I learned about Dorbrook by word-of-mouth. It is about 30 minutes from where I live but worth the drive when we are in the mood. We bring a picnic and a blanket, there is shade below the trees and we sit and have a meal. The playground equipment is good quality and fun for a variety of ages. I love that there is a (clean) sand area, sprawling playground AND a water/spashground to cool off in. We like to visit Delicious Orchards on the way home. This park is well-maintained and is good for the whole family (pets included)! I prefer more wildlife when I go to parks, so it isn't a great place for hardcore hikes and nature trails. Why people pay for the sprinkler park at the Asbury park boardwalk I will never know. This one is larger and ehem... FREE. And clean with ample parking. There is always an ice cream/snack truck and there is plenty of traditional park space surrounding it. Nice place to have a little picnic and let the kids play in the sprinklers. Most times I've been, the kids have been well-behaved and adults were nearby. read more

Stopped here with my 2-year-old while out of town visiting family. Great spot for kids, with an interesting play area and a water splash zone. When he was done playing we grabbed an ice cream from the ice cream truck. Lots of open space too for picnics or whatnot. If I lived here, we'd be here all the time. read more

This park is the total package! Has a big playground with swings and a pretty cool slide, a sandbox, a splash pad that's open in the summer and a large area for picnics or just to run around. They also have areas where you can rent for large parties. Love this park! read more

Before school is out head on over , this is a free fun place especially for 4-6 year olds. The spray pad is wonderful my grandson was so happy dancing through the different water amusements. The playground and especially the slide was unique and fun. Very pretty, clean, enjoyable park! Why pay for Asbury Park spraypad when this is just as nice! Come in the right season and you can pick peaches and apples in the farm down the block. read more
