It is very affordable. The facility is clean. Crowded at certain times but that's at every gym. I wish they had more cardio equipment but everyone is respectiful of the time limit, cleaning the equipment down & waiting their turn. The weight room is larger & offers a lot of different machines & free weights. The locker rooms & pool have been redone since Sandy & they did a great job. My favorite is the steam room. All the staff are friendly. It's a great spot to run into neighbors, store owners & friends. It's rare to go there & not see someone you know from the community. I also like supporting my local establishments. The hours of operation are convenient too.

It seems the rest of the park's activities have been upgraded though, such as the kids' apparatus, new and fresh pickleball courts, clean tennis courts and such. The structure of the park is organized and great for the large space. On hot days, there's plenty of shade with trees. The public pool here is large and fun! There is bugs often just as fyi and you need to look online to make sure it's open. There's so much to do here with the different activities!!! Cant wait to see more improvements!!

The parked is pleasant and offers a lot for those that enter. The new picnic table are very inviting with enough to set a grill and barbeque. The have volleyball, basketball, handball, bike riding and the pool is a sight to see. The have a membership for the pool and guest can accompany the resident of the town. They have a huge parking lot with handicap parking, a museum across the street. The staff are friendly and the speak to you as well. It really is a nice park to visit, oh! and you can people watch if you are into that.

There's also a pool area but I believe it is for Hempstead residents only. There are some baseball fields that are utilized mainly by summer and Little League teams across the street from the pool. There's also a self-pitch batting cage that is open to the public. It's fun if you have someone who can throw straight balls so you can actually hit them. My brother is not one of these people as evidenced by the bruises along my arm, leg, and hip area. I usually only come here to play some pick up basketball but the courts are a bit uneven and when it rains, the water collects easily and leaves puddles all over the place. The only downside about Rath is that it shuts down at sunset, so there is no midnight basketball available for the gym rats. However, I did circumvent this by climbing the fence with a friend and playing some full-court 1-on-1 past 9pm without any night lights. We had to stop every once in a while because there were park keepers and popos driving by but for the most part we were gravy. The other downside that I must mention is that some of the kids in the area are obnoxiously immature and they tend to frequent this park at all times, day or night, so that may hinder the overall fun had depending upon proximity to these little rascals. I don't think there is a solution to that except better parenting but that doesn't seem to be a priority for some in the area.

I've never played Basketball. I've never concentrated on a game long enough (more than four…read moreminutes) to understand anything. I'm not a fan of B-Ball yet my friend, Coach Dock of Shooting Stars, thought I should handle the clock for the start of his basketball league. Hahahahahahaha! Surely he's joking. He wasn't. Mitchel Gym is tucked away in Garden City and it'll be better if you have your own transportation to get to it. There is ample parking so don't worry. The gym is very spacious. A huge court downstairs with a balcony that has standing room only. The bathrooms are also a good size and they were clean on my visit. If you're using the gym for games/leagues, you'd have to supply your benches, tables etc. The gym is also used for the training of various sports. I had a wonderful time learning and clocking (I don't know if that's even a term) a game at Mitchel Gym. Overpriced, but such a fun place! They even make you buy their own socks…read more My almost 3 year old had the time of her life. The facility is very large and the entrance is easy to find where to park due to a lot of signs saying where to go. The staff was super helpful by the trampoline and zip line, but no one kept the toddler area clean and everything was in the wrong room. We were there for 90 min play and not once did a staff member come in and reorganize. My daughter wanted to play in the vet area and there were no toys at all. Probably were strewn about in other rooms. They have a similar area in once upon a tree top, where she often goes and hasn't had this issue due to staff upkeeping it. There was the soft play area, a soft play maze thing that was really cool that she spent most of her time in exploring. There was a big kid zip line obstacle course and a little one. My daughter was a little bit too afraid of the little one. I think she didn't understand the concept with the vests and staying on a track with a rope. They also have laser tag, an arcade, a dodgeball bouncy court, a trampoline, and laser tag. Super fun and we will be back. Hopefully will be less expensive without the need to purchase socks.
