My wife and I met with some amazing photographers, whose work we thought was stupendous, but in the end we realized that we didn't want the perfect picture, we wanted more. We wanted a photographer that was going to capture us, in the moment, as beautifully real to the moment as possible. We're not the type of couple that has many photos of ourselves around the house and those we do have aren't posed. We like candids, we like moments, and we absolutely loved our photographer, Megan Clouse. From the second we sat down with Megan she struck us as much more than your typical wedding photographer. She had amazing prints for us to look at and plenty of variety in style of shots, but the thing that jumped out at us was the emotion in her work. Even though we'd never met the people we were looking at, we could feel their joy, their laughter, their embarrassment ... we could feel everything. Her photos weren't what I call the "insert bride here" type, where you can imagine any bride looking pretty in the photo you're looking at, each was truly a moment, even the posed shots. Meg drove out of her way to come to our wedding rehearsal and snap a few pictures of us and get to know our families the night before our wedding. She was ready to go on the morning of the wedding and despite my frazzled nerves (we were running late), she was so calming and sweet. She was out there in the mud and rain getting as many photos as she could on our rainy wedding day and even drove us to our reception. She was able to herd our rowdy group of guests, 1/3 of which didn't even speak English that well, and was quietly everywhere throughout the day. She even brought her husband along and they worked so seamlessly together. The photographer is not someone you hear much about from your guests, but I had at least 5-6 people stop me to tell me how terrific Meg was at our wedding. (And this is before seeing any photos!) She was so cheerful, gentle, and personable that our guests just genuinely LIKED having her around taking their pictures. Both of our mothers commented on how much they liked Meg and my mom said "she is just the cutest thing!" We woke up the day after our wedding with a gorgeous picture of us in our inboxes as a 1 Day Anniversary gift and just a few days after our wedding, she already has a sneak preview up on her website. The photos? Amazing. I have no doubt we will love our photos when we get them all back. I'm appalled and angry and I would not recommend them for anything, let alone the most important day of my daughter's life. That is SO not us! Then one fateful night we surfed the web for something else (different venue) and ran across a wedding preview video done by Ipomoea.
