But this DOUBLE KWIK is screaming for Robert Irvine and Gordon Ramsay to showcase on their sarcastically enriched review shows because if I could spell disgusting ... oh wait, I just did spell it ... anyhow disgusting is too mild of a word for this bacteria encouraging highway stop in the Appalachian mountains. Entering the men's room ... well I photographed the best and cleanest part of the room for this review. Well I was itching and queasy and ... well I still needed the facility. Judging from the green face of one of the women in our party I knew before she screamed out DISGUSTING ... amazing I just spelled it out again. And, then I saw the non-hidden refrigerator unit where food is stored prior to being heated into gasoline station "tasty snacks". Yes boys and girls .. men and women ... you can say it with me D-I-S-G-U-S-T-I-N-G! The good part ... it was easy to pump the gas and the Kentucky gas price was lower than the prices in the Northeast.

Found myself making an unplanned trip to Frenchburg. Now Frenchburg is a little off the main…read moreinterstate so it took some gas to get there and back. As my trip was unplanned I had to stop someplace on US 460 to gas up. Now there are 3 little towns along 460 between Frenchburg and Mt.Sterling. ( Means, Jeffersonville and Camargo) Each have there own distinct personalities as communities. All are filled with great people. So I zip into Means Food Mart. Gas pumps are pay inside only. When I walked in the place had your typical Convenience Mart fair, so I got a soft drink and went to pay for my gas. The place was filled with a happy and energetic lunch crowd. Folks were being served soup, chili, sandwiches etc.. I decided what the heck its lunch time the health department food score on the front door was a 95 out of 100 I would try the place. Now you have to understand every community has there own culture. When I was in Athens Greece a few years back I did not expect the same type of food as you would get in say New York. Well Means Kentucky is different from Lexington. I started off with wheat bread. Nope ain't a gonna get it at the Means Food Mart. Strictly white bread and white bread only. You want a sandwich? Then it is served on white bread like everyone knows it should be. Well ok not a fan of what white bread does to the body but alas it does taste good so white bread it is. I really wanted to go with the cheese loaf but hey got to think nutritionally so I am sacrificing on the white bread I will have to play it safe and go with the Turkey. Now Means might be white bread only but apparently you get your choice of Turkey. Got your plain regular Turkey or you can live a little and get the Cajun Turkey. Well now ain't that something. I have traveled the globe and never had Cajun Turkey so you guessed it I got the Cajun. I had them dress the sandwich as per my likes and it was wonderful. They served the sandwich in special to go bags and when I got back I enjoyed a slice of Louisiana via Means Kentucky. The staff was clean and friendly and I look forward to my next stop in Means to try more of their food. Maybe I can stay awhile and get some of that soup next time!

Any time you go into the store presents you a very good opportunity to contract Covid. I've never…read moreseen any of the cashiers wear masks. I've never seen any of the workers who prepare and handle food wear masks. They don't have any kind of sanitization station set up. One day I was there for about ten minutes and decided to sit and watch how many customers wore masks. In that ten minutes, I counted eighteen customers coming and going, and of those customers, only myself and one other wore masks. I'm just over the hill from Vicco. Unless you want to drive all the way to Hazard or Hindman, Ramey's is the only place around for miles to get gas. If you're low on gas, it's your only option. But while the people who live here have refused to take Covid seriously (it's Trump country here, no big surprise) you'd think at least the businesses would. The major ones in Hazard and Hindman do -- the fast food chains, WalMart. But Ramey's has made zero effort to provide a Covid-safe environment for their customers. And with as spread out as things are here, Ramey's is a necessary stop for most people in the area. It's just a shame that every time you go there, they're taking your life into their hands.

This BP is definitely one of the best spots you can visit for gas, food, and beverages. They have all the typical gas station snacks you would expect, along with some grocery items. They also have alcohol, and tons of non-alcoholic beverages. But, the best thing about this BP are their food options. I know.. food from a gas station doesn't sound amazing, but the food at this BP is actually really good! They have pizza rolls (which are amazing, and if you're not from EKY be sure to try one if you're driving through), lots of dinner options, and amazing breakfast! If you're driving through Martin, this BP should definitely be your stop!

floor was sticky, i walked into the gas station one time to get 16 bags of lays original potato…read morecrisps, and four little debbie cakes and three dr peppers. and low and behold the floor was so sticky it sounded like slime on my shoes!! when i dropped my bag of chips they got stuck to the floor!! maintenance had to help my feet and chips off of the floor, but they got stuck aswell!! i'm writing this in the emergency room.. the bottom of my feet was tore off.
