The space was clean and tidy. Plenty of space and tables. One area was more upscale dining and towards the back of the restaurant a sports bar area. This is nice to have both depending what your celebrating. The food was decent. I ordered the sirloin medium rare and it turned out to be more on the rare side. I would rather have it this way than overcooked. The potatoes were a little cold when they came out but our server kindly warmed them up when we asked. The sides we tried were all amazing! What a bummer. We were excited to try Double V. Unfortunately, the service experience turned into a bit of a waiting game. When we arrived, it wasn't busy at all, yet we stood there long enough to wonder if we were supposed to seat ourselves or pass some kind of secret test. Once seated, it took about 20 minutes for our order to be taken, even though guests who arrived after us were already eating. Then came the main event: the wait. And the wait. And... still waiting. Nearly an hour later, our food finally arrived, and sadly, it didn't quite live up to the suspense. Mediocre at best. It's truly unfortunate because the restaurant itself has a great vibe, but the overall experience left us disappointed. Sadly, we won't be back though we did leave with plenty of time to admire the décor. read more

During the week the Double V is closed and you have to walk to the bar side. I hope the Fri/Sat dinner is better. The service was quick at first, there were two other tables. Bar side was ideal for those wanting to watch sports. I ordered a steak medium rare with fries. The steak came out medium well, chewy and the salt looked seasoned but had no salt or flavor. When the server brought it to me she asked if I wanted salt but I hadn't had a chance to try anything yet. She also didn't ask me to cut into my steak to see if it was correct. Once I realized the fries required salt, I couldn't find a server so I just got up and went to the server station and got it myself. I hadn't pre-ordered the cookie sundae dessert to go. When I opened it , the cinnamon once cream wasn't included and the cookie was so underbaked and raw inside I couldn't eat any of it. What a waste and disappointment. read more

Was looking forward to having lunch here with family on a Sunday and to support a small business. However, waited over an hour (approximately 1 HR and 15 minutes) after ordering our food from the waitress before we received our food. We only had 4 people at our table and did not order anything special, no appetizers, just lunch items. 3 other groups in the dining room who came in after us and ordered after us all had their food before us. A manager apologized to us after the fact. Paid full price for all our meals. read more

Place Just opened and marvelous stories from my bartender Tyler. First story is the name. One spouse wanted Victory, the other Valiant.. Double V..!! I asked Tyler for a suggestion from the menu and he didn't disappoint. The Pork Chop was spot on, flavorful and juicy! Green Beans just like I like them, beer cold. The decor was just gorgeous, and I'm told they're still working on more ideas. Front restaurant has only brunch for now. Can't wait to see what else they'll add by my next visit. Judging by the walls in the fine dining area, there will be great selection of wines. read more

Wavered between two or three stars based on the feedback from those I was with, but went with two based on my personal experience. Ambiance was fine for the Sports Bar side of the house; service was good; it was the food that just lacked. Sad to say the rice was best item I had tonight. The sirloin was definitely dumped out of a bag and left too long on the flat top; coated in pepper (not disclosed on the menu) and dried out. I would have sent it back if the food wasn't so, so slow to come out of the kitchen. The coleslaw was also very heavy on the pepper. The side of rice was definitely the best thing and it was just unseasoned brown/wild rice. I'd say go if you want to support a local business; just don't expect much if you plan on eating there. read more

It's really sad, but Grand Island is typically known for mediocre at best restaurants. But things are changing for the better. People here like lots of food for cheap, cheap, cheap and restaurants that offer a lot of ultra pre-proceed foods that are basically just warmed up and served. There are some that don't do that and take a more made in house like the Double V, Chocolate Bar, Ruthies Steak, more casual places like Wave Pizza, Shady Bend, Pams, Farmers Daughter, Tommy's. The Double V makes everything like main dishes, sauces, soups from scratch for a reasonable price. Good service. I ordered their take home thanksgiving dinner and it was better than home made. Best slow roast turkey I have ever had. I really like the shrimp soba, home made onion rings, stacked nachos, soups, fish. Thanks Double V for the great food and service. read more

Been here 4 times now. Mother's Day brunch buffet, 2 dinners, and one Sunday brunch. I love this place for brunch. There is a wide selection of options and the food is great. Biscuits & gravy, chicken fried steak, French toast, smoked Benedict - they're all delicious. Dinner is more hit & miss for my personal preference. Our group doesn't like spice, but whoever is behind the menu must like it. So if you like spice, you'll like it! We liked everything about the nachos except the bbq sauce was spicy and after a while, we couldn't finish them. So I haven't ordered things like the pork sandwich or anything else with the bbq sauce bc I know it'll be too hot to enjoy. A few of us have also ordered the mac & cheese as a side, but it ended up having jalapeños or some other spice in it (menu didn't list this) so we didn't finish it bc of the spice. The regular prime rib dinner is good & you can order different temps, but as a sandwich, it's well done (can't change that). So, overall, not sure how much we'll go here for dinner, but will definitely become a regular spot for us for breakfast/brunch. read more

We have went several times and the food is never consistently the same and/or good quality. I have ordered the same entree more than once and they can be completely different in looks and most importantly, taste from one visit to the next. We have went on some occasions and it's been great and then other times we leave feeling very disappointed in the quality. Based on the cost, it's difficult to justify taking a "chance" that the food will be good. read more
