Always looking for local, we found McKinney's Pub on 3rd West in downtown Grand Island. Looking like most of the smaller Irish pubs I've been in, in the Midwest, theirs an immediate comfort as soon as you walk into the door. Green walls, dark wood and brass foot rails. I, of course, started off with a Guinness, which was perfectly poured and my wife a Diet Coke. The staff is relaxed and friendly, giving us plenty of time to look over a fairly extensive menu. My wife decided on the Buffalo Chicken wrap, and I went all in on the Peanut butter burger. My wife really liked her wrap, lots of contrasting goodies to complement the chicken with had some bite but wasn't too spicy. If you're going to tray a peanut butter burger, you need to like peanut butter- it gives the burger a different taste. Served with a mandarin chutney on a tasty bun, I found myself liking it more and more as I enjoyed it. We were offered desserts, but declined as we were absolutely stuffed. Oh, how could I forget to mention the curled chip!!!!nothing short of awesome! Think of a curly cue fry combined with a steak fry. Really, really great! read more

If you're looking for an Irish pub this is as authentic as they come. Saturday night and 9 of us gathered to talk and have a meal together. Seating right up. Typical kids menu foods done well. Salads were nice. Bread rolls with cinnamon butter a real treat. So much to choose from... I had the shepherd's pie with champ on top... Best I've had in awhile. Really hot and took a while to finish. I tried the fun curled chips and they were lightly seasoned... My wife would have preferred them a little crisper but they were perfect for me and they had malt vinegar on the table... Delicious. The decor was perfect and bathrooms clean. First the good. They have a wide selection on British and Irish beers and whiskeys. The staff was friendly and service prompt. They did have some Irish options on the menu but they also fall into the problem that a lot of "Irish" pubs have around here. That problem is over 1/2 the menu is things like Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese and other decidedly none Irish fair. The problem this creates is you do a lot of types of food average but master nothing. That was our meal, average. The Irish bowl was bland and the afore mentioned Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese had a good heat but was overly salty. The salads were the tastiest part of the meal. I just want to make a plea to people doing Irish pubs. Ireland has a variety of delicious foods that take time and effort to master. Stick to those, figure them out, and you will shine. read more

4.5 Stars for ambience, food and we couldn't believe how low our bill was - shocking in a great way! We found this restaurant through Yelp and chose it based on the great reviews. We had the Irish Nachos which were SO DELICIOUS! It's fries, pulled pork, beer cheese, bbq sauce and gravy - sounded like a strange combination but our very friendly waitress suggested them. So glad we listened! I ordered a side salad that was a very generous size and had cucumber, cheese and croutons with the house vinaigrette which was delicious. We shared the cod tacos and loved the fixings but weren't overly impressed with the fish, we are admittedly picky about our fish. The tacos came with a side choice and we had the potatoes with gravy - very yummy! We will be back and bring our kids as there is an arcade right next door! read more

I enjoy this place for lunch. The employees are helpful and you can sit inside with the garage doors open and still get fresh air. They have delicious pretzel bites and spinach artichoke dip for appetizers that are both very good. read more

How this place has this many stars with how absolutely abysmal our meal was tonight baffles me. Nothing was hot, the clearly frozen burgers from Walmart were still cold insides the entire patty was grey, all the vegetables tasted like they never been washed and aren't even close to fresh. The Mac and cheese was more like play dough with noodles inside. The nachos were just a giant soggy pile of oil and then to add insult to injury it taste like the only thing used to season any of the food was a metric crap tone of sugar and literally nothing else. We decided to go in by chance while we were in town on a Saturday and it did not disappoint. We sat at the bar and our bartenders were very fast and attentive. This restaurant has good food. It's one of the best one here in Grand island. I had the fish and chips and the Irish stew both good. They made the Irish stew in a traditional way. Guinness, lamp, potatoes, onion, celery and carrots. I think It was the best item in the menu. The Guinness was decent. I have to say that they don't know how to pour it though. People in Ireland will die seeing the bartender pouring the stout without the 2 minutes in between. I still enjoy it though. read more

Service was awesome. The food was decent but not great. I had fish and chips, which was fine. Potatoes were a little thickly sliced for my liking, but prepared well. Another person at my table had a hot beef sandwich. The gravy was really thick and very sweet. They couldn't eat the potatoes and gravy because of the overpowering sweetness.
