As a Florida local, it's nice to escape to a different part of South Florida every once in a while without ever stepping on a plane. This weekend I was attending a baby shower in Pembroke Pines, which is quite a drive from where I live now, so I decided to turn it into a little staycation by booking a hotel on the water. One of my friends who came to the shower stayed with me, and it ended up being a great decision. The hotel is valet-only, which seems to be the new normal for Hilton properties--and honestly, most hotels these days. The staff was friendly from check-in to check-out, and the entire property was spotless. There is also a restaurant inside the hotel for added convenience. As Hilton Diamond members, we received a $30 daily food and beverage credit. While it's appreciated, it doesn't go very far when valet parking costs $45 per night and food and drinks are priced on the higher side. I really think Diamond members should receive discounted valet or a more meaningful dining credit. Our room was beautiful and very spacious with two queen beds and a large balcony overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. I also loved that the room had mostly wood flooring with carpet only in part of the room. I'm not a fan of fully carpeted hotel rooms, so that was definitely a plus. The pool area was the highlight of the property. It sits right along the Intracoastal next to the bridge, making it so much fun to relax while watching boats and jet skis cruise by. There's also an outdoor tiki bar where I found myself a few times. The drinks were good, but at around $20 each, they were definitely overpriced. One unexpected form of entertainment was the giant iguanas--basically little dinosaurs--wandering around the property Sunday afternoon! The hotel also had a DJ by the pool, which created a fun, lively atmosphere. Overall, we had a fantastic stay. The room was comfortable, the views were beautiful, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the staff was welcoming. Aside from the expensive valet and drinks, I really don't have any complaints. Here's a more polished version you can use for a review or complaint: Checked into the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hollywood Beach for 3 nights/4 days -- checked in May 23rd and checked out May 26th, 2026. We usually love staying at this hotel anytime we visit the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area. The location is convenient, the staff is usually great, the beds are comfortable, and it's directly across from the beach. The pool area overlooking the bay is beautiful -- you can watch boats, yachts, and jet skiers all day -- and the bar is excellent. Unfortunately, during this stay we had a very disappointing experience at the hotel restaurant on May 24th. My husband and I were enjoying the pool and decided to grab a quick bite before going out for a late dinner. An older gentleman came over, took our order, and brought us water while we waited. About 20 minutes later, he brought us plates and stated our food was on the way. Another 10-15 minutes passed before he returned to our table with a notepad asking if we had ordered lemon pepper wings. We told him no, we ordered chicken tenders. As he turned to walk away, I asked if our order had even been placed. He firmly responded "No" and again attempted to walk away without any explanation or apology. I stopped him once more and told him not to worry about the order. He threw his hands up and walked off. At that point, the issue was no longer the food -- it was the lack of professionalism, communication, and empathy. There was practically no one else in the restaurant, and instead of simply explaining the mistake or apologizing, he handled the situation poorly from start to finish. I then went to the front desk and asked to speak with a manager. While the front desk associate appeared to be locating management, she apparently informed the gentleman that I was upfront complaining about his service. He then came from the restaurant and aggressively approached my husband and me in the lobby, speaking loudly and saying, "I'll make you the food, that's not a problem." His behavior felt confrontational and intimidating rather than professional. I calmly explained that the issue was his customer service, communication, and attitude -- not the food itself. Instead of de-escalating the situation, he began yelling and saying, "So you're going to complain about my job?" Absolutely, because the way he approached us after the complaint only made the situation worse. The operations manager, Sandra, eventually came upfront and acknowledged us. I explained the entire situation to her, and she stated she had seen him speaking to us on camera and initially thought he was helping us. Another manager later came with the gentleman's direct manager, and I explained everything again verbatim. Even they seemed shocked that he had left the restaurant to approach us in that manner. Although I was told the matter would be addressed, I never received any follow-up phone call or communication afterward. This was disappointing because we genuinely enjoy staying at this property, but this experience left a very negative impression. read more

FREEZING! Shivering in my bed as I write this because the hotel has no heat! I came to visit my friend and figured for $300 a night the hotel would at least have heat. Thank goodness for the extra locking device because the actual look on the slider door was broken. Not quite sure how the DoubleTree Resort is considered a four star hotel, though I suppose the standards in Florida might be a bit more generous. Everything about this hotel screams underwhelming. From the lobby, to the reception area, and the room, the only redeeming quality were how comfy and clean the beds and bath were-- which is always a win. The room comes equipped with a mini fridge and a microwave, but because of this, the sink has to serve as a "kitchen" sink & bathroom sink... which causes a buildup of debris in the drain. Lastly, for those looking for a late night meal, room service and the restaurant closes their kitchen early. It's great for families due to the proximity of the beach, but not so much for adults who are looking for a relaxing, tranquil stay oozing with lavender and essential oils. read more

I don't know why this hotel had such a low rating. The room is current and very clean. Every employee I've met has been extremely polite and accommodating. Room service comes fast and the food is fresh and very hot. I live in south Florida and come to Hollywood often for a mini vacation. So many hotels in this area charge a luxury price yet provide low budget amenities, service and quality. This double tree provides a nicer experience for a great price. I've had a string of really bad hotel experiences and staying here was such a reset. I knew I'd be arriving late so decided to use the app to check in and get a digital key so I could skip the front desk which was easy to use and had my room assigned well ahead of time. The room was very spacious and even though I was close to the pool area has very little noise. It was clean. Staff was friendly as I passed them in the lobby each morning though I had no specific needs that arose during my stay. When we check into our room I noticed one bug and the next morning multiple bugs. I went to the front desk and mentioned it. They offered to have someone come and spray but we are leaving this morning! The front desk guy wasn't helpful at 8am. I had an occasion to stay here for a few days this month. I found it to be a very beautiful Hotel and was treated very well. Valet is friendly and fast, at checked in I received (their customary) warm cookies...yummmmm! My room was clean and beautiful with a balcony ( where I drank my coffee every morning ). The Pool was absolutely GORGEOUS!! and the attached Bar / Restaurant was great..with delicious food and very friendly staff..( I ate there every night and got to know all of them ). My only disappointment is that the Tiki Bar was not open on the days I was there and NO Bar service at the pool, so you must go into the restaurant's Bar and get a drink then bring it back out to the pool. All said, this is a great spot to stay. I was not down in Florida on recreation..so this place acted as an escape and safe haven to unwind after a stressful day. stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Hollywood, Florida for a full week and had an overall great experience! The hotel itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and located right across from the beach--such a huge plus! I loved having easy beach access just steps away. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality and location. The hospitality was warm, the service was helpful, and the check-in process using my digital key was smooth. I truly enjoyed relaxing by the pool, which I was able to do a couple of times with no issues. Unfortunately, I did have one unpleasant experience that left me feeling uncomfortable. One day, while entering I encountered by servucy when entering the pool facility, I was searched quite aggressively. I understand the hotel has a strict "no outside food" policy, but the way it was handled made me feel like I was being treated like a criminal. It honestly felt more like airport security than a resort pool, which really affected my ability to feel comfortable returning to that area for the rest of my stay. Despite that moment, I still appreciated the overall value, cleanliness, and beachfront convenience the hotel offered. I hope future visits can be a bit more relaxed in terms of security protocol, especially for guests who are following the rules. Thank you to the staff for the hospitality and for making most of my stay pleasant. I forgot to mention that it how it is but just be aware that they clean your room every three days giving you towels and cleaning but they give you if you benefit it two bottles of water every day in your room. read more

They are horrible at customer service. Our room faced the buildings a c compressor it was loud and awful view. I thought when I opened the blinds I had checked in to a prison. I told them how unhappy I was they answered me we don't sell views. They don't sell customer service either. Would never go back to this hotel. Pick anywhere else you can't do worse. My friends left a bag for us when we check in. They never even gave it to us. I asked about the traditional cookies. If you don't ask they don't even offer their stale cookies. read more

Disappointing Experience for the Price I had high expectations for this hotel given the price, but my experience was far below acceptable standards. First, the bathroom clearly looked like it had not been cleaned prior to my arrival. The sheets were rough and uncomfortable, itch and rough actually. There was a musty odor throughout the room that smelled like mold. Definitely not Hilton quality. Additional points to consider, the hotel does not offer a complimentary coffee in the lobby or breakfast, which is disappointing considering the cost. The service was extremely lacking. When I asked the front desk staff to assist me with arranging a ride to the cruise port, I was curtly told, "Get a Lyft or an Uber," without any further effort to help. No concierge treatment In the minimalist of expectations. On top of that, the hotel wouldn't allow my DoorDash delivery to be brought to my room, leaving me no choice but to go to the lobby at 6 AM in my pajamas to retrieve it. And they didn't bother to pick up the phone when I called to let them know I had a delivery on the way, nor did they call me to inform the food was delivered. Throughout the night there were people yelling in the hallway and being extremely loud. I tried calling the front desk to address the issue, but no one answered for at least three attempts. This lack of responsiveness left me feeling unsafe and completely disrupted my rest. Overall, for the price I paid, I expected much higher standards of cleanliness, customer service, and basic hospitality. I enjoyed my stay during my business trip this week. Got to the hotel around 3:30 and my room type was not available. Had reserved a King room. I let he person just give me a two bed queen just so I could drop off items and get some things done. I regretted it after since I was placed over bar and the noise prevented me from opening the sliding door at night when we had beautiful weather and temps. Other than that the room was fine and location very easy to get in and out. Very nice pool but no jets operating in the spa pool. Great cookies on checkin and again, love the location. Not sure I would stay here if spending my money vs business trip. Would certainly stay here on business. read more

There's no direct line to the front desk. You have to text. There is no heat in any rooms. The service in the restaurant was horrible. Though the room service was very good. We sat at the bar for 10 minutes. There were three customers at the bar besides us and we never got waited on. I am done with Hilton's. They are all the same. They all suck. there's a $40 parking fee, there is a $20 resort fee for what is beyond me. So for over $300 a night no heat bad service. read more

Stayed here last week for 4 days. Here is what I liked, and didn't like. Liked - The bed. Man! This was probably the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept on. Seriously! King sized bed, high off the ground, with a thick mattress pad. Was like sleeping on a cloud! 4 great pillows, soft and squishy, cool and comfy as can be! Slept great all 4 nights! - Location. One block or so from the beach. 7-11 literally next door to grab snacks/waters/medicine etc. - Room itself. Large, I was in room 334, it was a corner room with balcony. Plenty of closet space, bathroom was large, TV was good, nice desk and chair to sit in. - 2 free bottles of water a day from the front desk. - Cold AC. Put it as low as it could go to keep my room freezing. Loved it! - Digital Room Key. On your smartphone. Didn't have to worry about carrying a key, just tapped a button on my phone and it unlocked my door. Didn't Like - The water pressure. Horrible. Criminal! One of the worst I have ever experienced. I know hotels are "going green" to conserve water etc, but this was bad. Took like an extra 10 minutes to wash all the soap off my body. It was weak. - Front desk staff. Some were friendly, some it seemed like you were bothering them. Asked for housekeeping one day (its not automatic/daily) and more towels, they said they need 24 hours notice for housekeeping but they could get me some towels. She wrote my room number down. When I got home from my conference that night, there were no towels. Had to go back downstairs to get them myself. Lame! Overall, had a great stay though! Not sure if I would pay $250 a night out of my own pocket, but it was a comfy room located in a nice part of town and was a good home base for our stay while attending our conference down the street. read more

The location is great, right by the beach. The amenities: bad. My husband couldn't sleep well due to the bed quality. I had to take a cold shower the first night because the hot water was not working. The dryer is covered by dust and the handle was broken. So here goes the first evening of unpleasant cold shower and wet hair. The service: bad. No direct line from the room to the front desk. I was on hold forever dialing 111 after housekeeping told me the number. The guy at the front desk was extremely impatient just wanted me to disappear instead of helping me. A lady that was on the phone with was also extremely unhelpful and didnt bother to answer any questions. Cleanliness: - disgusting and dilapidated - trash in the hallways overflowing for three days and never taken out - stains everywhere - stains on blanket, dirty napkins by the night stand, mold in the shower, carpet just need to be replaced on the entire 6th floor - pool has cigarette butts and sludge floating around - chairs could be better but the towels look 10 years old and have absolutely zero fluff to them. Thin as a napkin. - did not look like it had been vacuumed for days - photos are only from one half of a single hallway Parking: - an absolute joke for $40 a night - only Valet and it's literally three steps from the front door to get to your car but they insist on driving it around to the front door - no covered valet, just the old parking lot that they charge for - I could get my car much faster and drive out the parking lot before they can get it and bring it to me Food: - not a terrible experience, typical pub food but they add a 18-20% gratuity on every bill regardless of how many people. Overall: - would not recommend or consider this a resort as a Hilton Diamond member. The lobby looks decent but the hotel needs to be shutdown or hire a new GM. This is not a 3 or 4 star hotel. Best Western or Motel 6 has better standards than this. Several reviews stating the same thing without rectifying the issue. Close, remodel, and get new staff or hire an outside agency for hospitality training. @sotherly hotels and @chesapeake hospitality this hotel went through a remodel in 2018. The best part was the pool and the location of the hotel. Pool overlooks the marina, and dj comes at 3pm on Saturdays. The food was good and the drinks were strong. It's also easy to get to any part of the city from here. Downsides: The rooms aren't as clean as any other Hilton I've stayed in. It smelled like armpits, there was sand on the desk, random stains on the wall. Not enough toiletries: bar of soap, shampoo and conditioner. No additional for the shower. You have to call a day in advance for room service cleaning. And our toilet was faulty. Overall didn't feel as clean I expected considering the name. Expensive! Over $400 a night.. not including $30 per night valet. Note that you are strictly paying for the location on Ocean Drive and walking distance to the beach. I stayed here over a holiday weekend so maybe that's why the rates were through the roof. I don't have a problem paying for nice experiences, but I def think it was overpriced. read more

Working in Hallandale January 2025 and it's cold every night... this hotel has NO HEAT! They leave the AC running in the hallways, it's 43 degrees outside and the rooms have no heat. I booked a day pass on Resort Pass to be able to use the pool and get some sun. I went on a Sunday and it was only $20 which was a great deal. You also get access to bike rentals for an hour as well as free wifi. It was pretty busy around the time I went (11am) but I was able to find a lounge chair. The view is great and the pool is huge. There's a dj on weekends and he plays a good mix of everything. I had a blast! The employees are also super friendly and the check in process was really smooth. They do give you a towel which was nice. The Tiki Bar has a nice variety of food and drinks - mainly finger foods but the tostones were a great snack after a bunch of tequila sodas. The hotel itself looks nice and clean; I would definitely consider staying here next time I'm in the area. read more

Disappointed, little bit angry. Check in was slow although I did it on app. People in line, but there was only one front desk Rep. Service is very very slow. Trying calling the front desk and nobody answers the phone. You can't find a housekeeping in the hallway anywhere. Even with the room service request they didn't clean my room, they all told me it'll be done by 5 PM yesterday but it didn't. This is a Beach vacation, I have sands all over me and my slides. The bartenders are not any different, prob even slower. I'm ignored!! And they charge 20% gratuity on all drinks, no wonder they are so slow, good service bad service, they'll l get 20% either way. This is my first time in Hollywood, and plan to make it a yearly trip down here, and I hope to find the right place to stay for the future. I was hoping this would be it, but not going that way! I will reevaluate the end of my trip. I hope it'll get better but I have a big doubt. I am pretty happy with the room, no big complaints. Our stay was wonderful from Wednesday July 26-Sunday July 30th, excellent staff-most recognized were Frank(front desk), Jose (bartender) , valet staff ( young lady and thin faced man/braids-managers)?all staff were courteous. Pool staff on Saturday was helpful, made delicious drinks, food waiter was working his butt off ( every minute out in sun delivering food), and the DJ played a great selection of music ( up best, danceable) and we loved the company of 3 iguanas. Beautiful! Well maintained, happy hour specials great , loved that a/c cooled room to desired sleeping temp 68', and food from Port South delicious. Needed to take advantage of perks-bike rental, umbrella and beach stuff, etc. We only got water daily. Hope that the food credit went through, parking discounts/valet and the right parties got tips left: housekeeping and valet. Beds were comfortable and room clean. *Complaints are small compared to the stay: having towels of all sizes readily accessible, young lady at check out today ( not pleasant demeanor-as if she doesn't like helping others), bathroom left faucet leaks 827, shower head doesn't move to change pressure easily plus cracked towards base and would have loved that our room was vacuumed when it was cleaned ( sand from beach, still there-Friday). I'll be honest, I'm not happy with the cleanliness of my room. Being a Hilton Honors member, I expected a little more. I'd rather not describe, in detail, my displeasures but please do better. The ONLY reason I'm leaving 4 is because the front desk customer service is TOP TIER. The gentleman that checked my family and I in was very professional and extremely knowledgeable. He made everything very easy to understand. Andrew's service is superior. He exceeds expectations. Greeted all guest with a positive attitude and super energetic energy. I offered UberEats and as I was walking back inside, he (Andrew) had utensils in his hand for be and I didn't even have to ask! THATS the service that's memorable and could save a company. It's little gestures like that, that make people want to come back. *Update* I'm going to have to change my room in the morning. I just can't. Bedbugs! *Update #2* So only 4 channels work? This review is for the pool only! We did a day pass for the pool area on a Saturday and it was a GREAT TIME! You check in at the front desk and they will take care of you. The pool is spacious. They have a hot tub as well. It faces the intercostal so nice to see boats go by. The food was good, what you would expect for pool food. We got the fish dip, the chicken wings, and the pretzel bites, and fries. THE PRETZEL BITES AND BEER CHEESE ARE SO GOOD! Get them! Also get a side of fries to dip in the cheese bc so so worth it! They charge 10 dollars for valet. Only downside is they have you pay when you leave vs up front. If you are paying by credit card that means you have to get in line again. Bottom line bring cash to avoid. The drinks we're delish and the bartenders were awesome! Very friendly! One thing to note is the gratuity is already included when you order. They have a DJ on Saturday as well. The DJ on the Saturday we went was not that good. She has great energy but the music selection was hit and miss. Mostly miss. Typically I would never review a hotel while I am still staying here, today that changed. We checked in yesterday, stay until Friday if there were availability anywhere else we would leave. Some hotel basics... wash clothes, nope none in room upon arrival and none today when we requested new towels (don't bother the housekeeping lady she is busy talking on her phone, just take what you need from the cart.) Neither the tiki bar poolside OR the restaurant bar are open currently so if you wanna get cocktails or food onsite, nope. The room is fine. The pool is cold but very pretty. Paying $300 a night I have MUCH higher expectations. Soooo frustrating! I've included a pic of me trying to call the front desk, no one every picked up, I gave up. read more
