Doug was the photographer of choice for our outdoor weddng ceremony and reception in 2010, he did an excellent job, the guests were all extremely impressed with his mannerisms, charm and professionalism. The photographs that he took were absolutely incredible, I had burnt my face a month or so before and there was no sign of it on the photos, the one's that Doug edited for us were stunning!!! I never knew I could look so beautiful!!! When I reviewed them I had tears in my eyes. He captured my daughters perfectly too!!! I would have absolutely no concerns or worries about calling on Doug again for any of my photographic and video needs. He's a fantastic man, with high business ethics and even higher standards for the finished product. I would give Doug a 10/10 and recommend him 100% ADDITIONAL COMMENT to address Belinda's comment Yes I had Doug in 2010 do our wedding shots, I know that Doug was not with this current company but worked with Phillips Photography at that time, but it is Doug that took our photos, no one else, and later on he also did a private in home family shoot later on as we were simply "THAT" impressed with his work. I would hire Doug regardless of what company he is working for, as it is his talent and skill that I am after, not a specific company name. And in any business one never has 100% of their clients 100% happy, it's just not realistic. Very happy! We highly recommend Doug's talents for all your photography needs. Doug was referred to us by a family friend after he had taken such fantastic pics for her large scale wedding that we had attended in the states. We hired Doug for our own smaller family wedding and he proved to be an excellent choice. Our wedding and reception were on site at the Paletta Mansion in Burlington and we loved the efforts he took to include us with some spectacular Lake Ontario pics as well as some that captured the history of the mansion. The indoor pics were gorgeous, especially the individual group shots in the Grooms' room with the men and the Bridal party with the women upstairs in that gorgeous staging area. The pics of the girls in my party were stunning! Oh and the flower girls and ring bearer were so sweet! We loved that Doug fit in so well and that he didn't overwhelm the party with his requirements. A lot of people were in attendance and Doug took the time and went out of his way to accommodate and ensure that he captured our family and friends at the best of angles. It was a small scale private function however he was able to blend in well. My brother-in-law's wedding was multi-cultural which Doug also captured for us and was able to reflect with his skill that garden wedding beautifully. A collection of gorgeous pics were delivered! If possible I would give him even more stars if I could!! Doug did our wedding on May 17th, 2014 and I couldn't have asked for a better photographer!!! First, we received all of our pictures back in less than a week, ALL EDITED!!! Over 400 pictures!! We even had rain for part of our wedding day, and except for a few photos that were enhanced by the rain, you would never have known it rained!! He never complained about it raining and said as long as we were good to continue he was game!!! He never even HINTED that the rain was bothering him and just rolled wih the punches. He was very unobtrusive. Looking at the pictures, I know he seemed to be everywhere at once, but I never saw him. He got every picture I could want!! I called him several times before the wedding and he always called me back soon after if he didn't answer. I had a few VERY detailed pictures I needed captured and they all turned out awesome! I have already given a few people I know his number and I know I will be giving it out to even more!!! As for payment, I paid that last payment when I received my pictures. I did TRY and pay the full amount before but he said he would take the last payment on delivery of our pictures. TOTALLY professional. We plan on getting photos done next year on our anniversary, and Doug is our MAN!!!! read more

Doug ripped us off. He had us pay fully in advance for his work and then only provided us with a portion of our pictures. The photos he did give to us had problems. They had not been touched up properly--- one photo even had a piece of garbage left in the shot! Photos that were black & white with colourized flowers had colour bleeding into the rest of the image. Very poor editing work. I brought these photos to his attention and, after many delays at his end, he did provide us with photos that had been somewhat improved. He also told us that our larger (and more costly) photos had been delayed at the printers. The date for receiving these photos kept being extended by Doug. After a while, he promised that he'd deliver the remaining photos when they were sent to him, then stopped returning our calls and responding to emails. We never received the remaining photos nor a refund. Oh yeah, he told us he was applying to be a police officer and talked about the application process often. I don't know if he actually was applying or if he just does this to make himself seem honest. Buyer beware. read more

We hired Doug for our wedding photography in May 2009 on the recommendation of good friends of ours who had hired Doug a few years prior. From day one, he was personable and friendly and I'm still in touch with him today. I was really happy with Doug's honesty and willingness to work with us and our budget. He said that given the size of our wedding, it didn't make sense to buy an expensive photography package from him. When you're planning a wedding, it really helps when your vendors understand and don't try to upsell or pressure you into spending more than you should. I was really happy with the number of photos and the quality of the images, especially since we hadn't paid a fortune for it. I went back to see Doug almost a year later to order some prints from him and in a panic, had to order another CD of our photos when I thought I had misplaced ours. In both instances, he was quick to reply and prompt with his service. I would definitely recommend Doug for your special event photography, especially given his years of experience, the quality of his work and his honest and direct approach. read more

I just got our photo cd from Doug last night and the photos are wonderful. I can't stop looking at them! We booked Doug and got his "wedding show special" which was $700!!!!! Seriously $700. Doug included a complimentary engagement shoot that really helped us feel comfortable with the whole process and those photos are fantastic too! We have a great selection of full colour, black and white, and some beautiful sepia tone photos which were so beautiful! An amazing part of having Doug take your photos... He gives you full rights to the photos, he gave me a cd that had every photo on it and I have been able to email some to family who travelled for the wedding and I can go and print as many copies as I want, wherever I want to print them from. We found Doug to be incredibly professional, and kind, and during the ceremony and reception he is almost invisible! Guests all said that they never noticed a big camera in the way or in their face yet we have photos of everything! We will definitely book Doug for anything needed in the future! read more

Doug was our photographer for our Thanksgiving wedding when we married. I think I was a very particular bride with certain ideas and ways that I wanted to see things done. We had multiple locations, lots of little details, and we had to deal with a sensitive family situation on my husbands side. Doug was flexible, creative and patient and incorporated all of our ideas while adding his own excellent suggestions and flair from his experience. It was tasteful, fun, wonderfully done. Not only did we love Doug but another couple who was friends of ours used Doug for their summer wedding around the same time and my sister-in-law and brother-in-law used Doug the following summer. I have know Doug for many years. Our first photo shoot was on location at our family cottage and he was amazing so we decided to use him again for a few family weddings. He is creative and uses location and props to his advantage. We did not want traditional wedding photos where the people all lined up, we wanted creative and unique photos that captured our personalities and the love we had for each other. Found Doug walking down St Paul street dress shopping, saw his add in his studio. He returned my call almost immediately and we set up a date to meet with him. Great first impression. He did our engagement photo's about a month after giving deposit, they turned out fantastic we were very impressed. Our wedding was just this saturday (april 13) he showed up on time, ready to work. Doug did our handfasting/wedding photos, edited them up perfectly, I loved the way he did colour and black and white. He mingled with the guests, getting incredible photos of our special day. Doug photographed our wedding and did a great job. He showed up early, was clean and presentable and his rates are very reasonable. His crowd control was better than most photogs I've seen - as we all know getting everyone into the shot correctly is like herding cats. Doug had a great sense of humour to soften up the few shy subjects he had to photograph. Some companies want $1500 or more to do a wedding, and video is far more than that. We opted for the photos and it was only $700. We got all the shots we (and my mother in law) wanted. Quality and composition was excellent.
