The office staff claimed they would call her back but did not do so, so I encouraged her to call again since they were likely busy. The front desk answered and placed her on hold, but they forgot to actually push the button so my daughter had to sit there and listen to the other staff and the front desk staff talk about her. They laughed that this was the third time she had called and made fun of her being from out of state. They agreed with each other to just tell her that the dentist had left and they said their goodbyes. When the front desk person returned to the phone and said the dentist had left, my daughter brought up the fact that she was not placed on hold and just heard their entire conversation. The staff member became very quiet, failed to apologize, simply mumbled something, and hung up. This is the worst unprofessional customer service I have been a part of experiencing. They showed no care or sympathy and were inappropriately disrespectful.

Dr.Farley is extremely experienced and educated in his field and has been practicing for over 35 years, he will never over-charge or make you get work done that is not necessary for his benefit. I have been to the comfort dentals and places like that and they never cleaned my teeth nearly as good as Sheri the hygienist! They also did 8 fillings on all my molars the SAME DAY and I told them I had TMJ and once the numb my whole mouth my jaw locked and they still forced it open because they already numb me and didn't want to waste it.... I was furious to say they least and I;m just extremely thankful that he know excepts my insurance. If you are looking for educated, experienced, old-fashioned but reliable and trustworthy care this place is the only place in NM hands down!!!

This…read moreplace is so unprofessional and the dentist is completely arrogant as is his dental hygienist. They completely ignore any anxiety even if you tell them that you are uncomfortable you will not even receive a response. I wen through 2 sessions of a grind down of my teeth for a bite adjustment with water and saliva splashing in my face, a fluorescent light and a dental hygienist pulling my lip away form my face. 10 minutes before this nightmare ended I finally told them "you guys should get glasses for this" "we have them. Would you LIKE some?" They rude dentist responded. "yes" I replied, then 10 minutes later the dentist walks out without saying a word. Then when I leave the ONE receptionist is on the phone with the dentist literally sitting back in a chair staring off into the distance, I ask "can I leave?" the receptionist glares at me and says on the phone "I am SO sorry. Hold on." Looks at me "yes you can go, did they tell you anything?" I replied "no" she look away and then says again to the person on the phone "I am SO sorry about that." Making me feel like a total inconvenience. This was such an awful experience I will never return there.

I finally decided to move on to a new dentist, which is perhaps easier than it sounds. How does one…read moredecide on a new dentist? For me, I decided to look for someone who did not possess the bad qualities of my previous dentist. My previous dentist had a penchant for railing APS and praising Republicans while doing the exam. I stayed with her because the cleaning was great, but then it wasn't; something happened to the dental hygienist and suddenly the once glorious cleanings weren't so glorious (or long) and I decided it was time to move on. Enter Dr. J. Domingo Valles. Technically the practice is his father's, but he is the active dentist on site. Dr. Valles' manner is thorough and patient-centered; he believes in providing quality care with the patient's comfort in mind. Both Dr. Valles and Sandy, the hygienist I spent the most time with, carefully explained what was going to happen and if I was ok with it. I have a fear of bitewing X-rays from my experience with the giant, ancient ones that my childhood dentist would use, which left me gagging and upset, but Dr. Valles' office has the latest tech which leads to a much more pleasant experience - no gagging here. Throughout the appointment, Sandy and Dr. Valles made an effort to get to know me as a person, and shared some of their stories as well. The entire visit was about an hour and a half, and I left with a very clean mouth and a very good feeling about my new dentist. I know that many people have a fear of the dentist, and I would recommend Dr. Valles for these folks. There's nothing scary about the procedures, and the staff are always concerned about your comfort. They truly care, and that makes the difference. Dr. Valles and his staff definitely earned 5 stars from me. The bar was admittedly low - as long as he didn't talk about politics and did a thorough cleaning I would be happy - but my experience surpassed everything that I thought I wanted/needed in a dentist. The bar is now set much higher!

Recently, I was advised that there was a decay on my upper wisdom tooth that it would be best to just extract it out to prevent future issues. Honestly, having gone through wisdom teeth extraction process (2 lower ones) 20+ years ago (elsewhere)...I wasn't really thrilled about having to repeat my own traumatic experience again. The scheduling took some time as the time had to be coordinated and I had changed some insurances. That said, the day of operation, I was so nervous and anxious! I wasn't quite sure what to expect with local anesthesia. But, the staff at UNM Dental Surgical Center from front desk Brie to the nurse Chelsea and dentist team working with Dr. Watson were all around awesome! It was such a chill, relaxing vibe at the place on day of operation. Plus, who gets to listen to Frank Sinatra while getting your tooth extract?!?!?! They all were so kind, friendly, relatable, professional and just all around great! The process took just 30 minutes and everything was all done! It went really smoothly that I wished I hadn't delayed taking out my wisdom teeth until later in my life! If you are looking for a professional team to take care and manage your dental, I definitely recommend UNM Dental Services. It may be difficult going through appointment processes, but once you are in the system, everything went well! They could help you with anything from just cleaning to doing surgery like what I just went through!

My Seattle dentist (Dr. Cris Simmons) is one of the top TMJ specialists in the world. His wife/secretary (Anna) referred me to Dr. Sanchez. I called for an appointment and was offered a free half-hour consultation. I phoned back Anna and she said that's a very good sign. She said that if they wanted me to make an appointment for x-rays, run the other direction. Lol During the consultation, it was clear that Dr. Sanchez had years of advanced specialized training with TMJ. He inspected my appliance and said he can definitely make one that's comparable. But even though it's slightly chipped in the front, it won't affect the functionality or comfort so it's not worth wasting my money on a new one. His advice was to continue using it until there's more serious wear. I felt relieved to find a dentist in my new city who's honest AND a highly experienced expert with TMJ.
