Inside a beautiful facility are beautiful people who clearly love the work that they do. We drive here from Castle Lines for tutoring and I get a front seat to watch the employees make magic in what they do. Everyone is kind. Every single one of them. They're considerate, conscientious and very knowledgeable. It Is an absolute joy to come here and you'll likely make friends with Jack who spent no less than 25 minutes helping kids pick a new movie to watch. I wish everyone loved their job as much as they do here. read more

I love the library. I had a book on hold and was notified that it had come in. Went to pick it up and browsed a little. Enchanted by the different themed Christmas trees. Such thought and detail went into the decorations. Wandered around checking them all out. Have some inspiration for next year for my own tree. read more

This library was recently renovated and they did a great job. The children's' play area is one of the best I've ever seen. It's all in a farm theme with tons of activities for little ones. They hold daily story times for babies, toddlers and preschoolers during the week and unlike other county libraries you don't need to register ahead. If being around kids isn't your thing this library has plenty of other space to sit quietly and enjoy the books that are offered including a window nook with a fireplace to look out and an entire upstairs. read more

A gorgeous library, but something has changed here. Several staff here, when I addressed the noise level I was put in my place. None of the staff addressed it. It was like they where scared to. Several parents on phones while children ran around unsupervised? Isn't library's for reading and quiet place? It's such a shame this is so disrespectful. The falter is put back on the staff. 4/5 because as a non-Colorado resident I am not allowed to receive a library card AND I have to have the physical card from my DIL when checking out books. Here's the thing, my two toddler granddaughters live in Castlerock and I live in CA. I come and visit them for a week at a time every other month. They love books and enjoy reading lots and lots of books. It makes sense that we come to the library and enjoy the facility and the programming planned for toddlers, but we should be able to leave with books too. Nope. Not this time. We enjoyed Story Time at 11am with Patty and Karissa which was well organized and fun. Thank you ladies for the music, fingerplays, and craft as well as the books. After Story Time we went out into the children's area and the girls played a bit with the toys and then they selected books for me to read to them. The girls wanted to check out books but we could not. At my local library that I take my other two grandchildren to that live in town, if I don't have their library card the kind people working the desk look up the bar code number and check out our books no problem. This library is very nice looking, and staff of so very helpful. But it's very very LOUD. People are talking in normal voices. I have never experienced I library like that and Jayce been going to libraries since I was a child and I am now 40. Normally I go to a library to be in complete silence and if people are talking they are whispering. I can't get silence here, which is the whole reason to come to a library. I do not recommend this library. read more

This isn't my favorite Douglas County Library. It's probably my 2nd favorite. They're doing construction next to the library so parking is somewhat of an issue. You will need to turn right near Dairy Queen on Wilcox to access the library parking lot. The construction taking place is for the new library. I hope it's as nice or better than the Lone Tree Library. There are a lot of nice amenities at this library. They have a nice reading room and plenty of study rooms too. I reserved a study room here one time and one of the staff members was very accommodating. Overall, staff is generally helpful here. They also have plenty of computers to use. This location is convenient for me rather than the Castle Pines branch. Also, I like the Castle Rock branch hours. So nice to pickup a library hold when they open at 8:00 am. I'm very much looking forward to when construction is completed on the new library and when it's open for patron use. For now, I recommend checking out this branch (Phillip Miller). Looking forward to more visits in the future! read more

Great play area for kids! They have a ranch/farm style play area that was donated by the Castle Rock Rotary Club. Our 3 year old and 1 year old both loved it! The staff was extremely friendly, even with my 1 year old taking books off the shelves read more

Remember when libraries were a place to go, get books, study in peace and quiet.......NOT HERE! So, they have opened up a children's center inside, crying, screaming babies.....P&Q....NOT GONNA HAPPEN HERE! Oh and in Castle Rock in the "New" building, as one goes to get away from the screaming babies on the first floor, there are homeless on the second floor sleeping on the carpets propped up against the walls. I know, why don't we setup a Starbucks inside and maybe an indoor gun range while we are at it!!! The libraries are catering to too many sub-groups and demeaning the purpose of what they were initially designed to be. I am ashamed that our taxes are going to this department. I would have gotten more studying done in a beer hall. read more

New library looks good however they have added a new play area filled with screaming kids to what should be a peaceful quiet place to read and study. Its unfortunate very little thought or consideration for what a library should be was taken into account when building the new building. Will not be visiting this new library like I used to with the old. read more

Right off, I have to let you know that I haven't been in a library in over 2 decades. Now I regret it. I have lived in Castle Rock 7 years and have truly missed out on a jewel in my town. The one thing that led me to visit is that I found out one of the perks of having a library card and visiting the library is I can get online there and use the teaching site Lynda.com for free. If I used it at home, I would have to pay a membership and that's roughly $35 a month. There is another crafting online teaching site that is free and fun to check out as well. The librarians are delightful and very helpful. Being a rather newcomer, they didn't mind at all that I had lots of questions. The new book section is easy to navigate. The featured topics wall was just what I needed to look through. I visited the magazine/newspaper room and found it a quiet sanctuary. The only issue I have is a personal one and that is I need to purchase my own set of headphones for use at the computer. Headphones are provided but for sanitary reasons, I'd rather have my own. Don't wait 20 years to get back to going to the library! Things have really changed. You can check out books yourself and it's easier than self-checkout at Walmart. You can check out up to 200 (yes, I typed that right) books at a time. Why someone would want that many at once is beyond me. I check out a couple and can keep them up to 9 weeks with doing online renewal. And, they send me an email before they are due so I can either return them or opt to renew. How easy is that! read more

Lacking much, particularly with respect to the Vietnam WAR. Understand it has improved since before I arrived 15 years ago ... but still needs sonething. Maybe better funding would help. Maybe new mgmt will find a way. Service staff is excellent. Miss Hooked on Books and the closest book store is probably in Park Meadows, about 12 miles up the road. read more

Just moved to Castle Rock, so I decided to check out the Library, and I was surprised by the size. It is pretty big for a town this size. There were a ton of staff ready to help me. I think 7 people asked me if I needed help. It was really easy to get a library card and the selection is great. Awesome children's section and teen section. Plenty of places to sit, love the wifi. I love this library. The self check out system is wonderful, the staff are so friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of everything. Its homey enough to make me comfortable and hang out for a while. I use the hold system alot, so i can go in grab my stuff and go. Its clean and smells good. Beautiful library with a wide selection of materials. The staff is helpful and knows their regulars. The staff knows who knows the whereabouts of everything so they know who they can "help find something" the staff loves their books and I've sat and shared reviews with the employees before. An okay music selection depending on the kind of music you're into but you can put most of it on request. Free wifi and use if their computers is super helpful. I've had my internet crash and had to finish my homework there. Cozy kids room, interactive teen room, and my favorite spot in the library is the quiet room's window seat where you can sit in the sun and finally have enough focus to read your books. This place is heaven for book lovers. read more

We practically LIVE here. lol I have lived in some of the largest cities in the world and I have visited magnificent libraries. What this place lacks in volume it makes up for in service. If they do not have it they will get it for you and fast. The librarians are knowledgeable and super helpful. It's no wonder it was voted one of the best regional libraries in the country. read more

What a great library! It has everything, from free computer usage to efficient wait lists for your favorite DVD or books coming from another library. They call as soon as the book or DVD arrives and will follow up with another call before they remove your name and go on to the next person on the list. read more
