Cool medium sized library that has an updated modern look and feel interior. Many parts of this library are functionally grouped to not be a hindrance to other sections, everything is open and has a good flow to it. In the middle of the library are privacy booths that look more like space age capsules due to their shape and design and at the end of the hallway is a makerspace. Where kids of all ages can use tools such as hammers, saws, drills, and 3D printers to build various projects. read more

This review is specifically for Park and Pickup at Castlewood Library. I don't know about you, but I'm spending a lot of time at home with my toddler right now and that means we're reading the same books over and over and over... It dawned on me one day to see what board books the nearest library has to offer so that we could mix up our repertoire. Admittedly, I haven't been a card carrying member of the library for quite some time. Now that I am one, I'm amazed by what I've been missing out on! It was so easy to apply for a card online. From there, I was able to access the library's offerings from across the Arapahoe branches. For board books, I could pick and choose or they offered to bundle five together for me of their choosing. We went this route and ended up with ten amazing board books my daughter and I are having so much fun exploring! I did everything online and the communication was flawless. I can't wait until we can visit IRL once the pandemic is behind us, but for now, I'm renting books for myself too that I can read digitally on my Kindle. I seriously cannot believe I've been paying Amazon for digital books all this time! So yes, I'm a little embarrassed I'm so enamored by this library that's been around forever but hopefully this review can help anyone else who hasn't visited their local library in quite some time! read more

Excellent experience using a Study Pod at Castlewood Library. The shared spaces are easily booked online and offer a great private space where you need not worry about conversation while in the library. Really great to have this facility! The study pods seat 4 and have power, lighting, ventilation, WiFi and even a TV/monitor to use via HDMI. read more

What a nice little library! Having kids, we frequent the children's section (books & dvds), and there's a nice play area for the kids to do activities and play with toys. The kids play area is enclosed so you know your kids are safe and you can keep an eye on them while you're browsing your phone or reading a book/magazine. Another awesome thing about this library is the Makerspace. The Makerspace is an opportunity to put creative projects together. There is always a Creative Specialist on duty to answer your questions and help you turn your vision into a reality. Tools for jewelry making, a 3-D printer to make whatever your hearts desire, laser cutters, power tools, hand tools, small electronics tools, safety tools, sewing equipment, etc. One of my kiddos needed to solder a wire to a motor for an RC Car (I'm not sure if I'm using the correct terminology)... but my hubby and kiddo got to bond (literally)... and it was so much fun for them. I can't wait to see how else we could make use of the Makerspace. Overall, great library, lots of computers (if you need one), clean bathrooms, helpful and friendly staff, and an awesome Makerspace! read more

plenty of parking, easy in and out. lots of seating area and always plenty of computers. I usually bring my own or use the Apple product but always seem to be plenty of computers available. Nice big screens. I am usually stop in for a glance at newspapers and few magazines. Its clean, staffs are courteous and have vending machines if you need drinks.. and most importantly, restrooms are clean! read more

The castlewood library is the perfect family oriented library. It sits on Arapaho and its a easy left into the library (stoplight) and out. The library is small but it has everything I need. I should qualify the above rating, I use the library mostly to support a 4year old and a 1 year old. This is a kid friendly library sure but its not big. I don't think you will have a huge selection (like the one further north on Orchard). Inter-library loan could help with that Yet for a 4-year old its perfect. It has a nice kids area in the back (stuff to play with) and a great selection of books. There are also a lot of computers for people to use (mostly minecraft by the look of it) so if your in the area and need a computer - there is that The library also contains a few meeting rooms and printing services. Per the note above this is a very family friendly (kid friendly) library. So don't expect it to be very quiet. Good luck and happy reading. read more

We've been checking out the Arapahoe Libraries for the Summer Reading Program this year, and this is my least liked of the ones that we've been to so far. It's in a great location, easy to get to. However because of that location I think there are a lot of walk ins that are just stopping in to get out of the summer heat. Big kids area that was nice, and friendly staff. One of the smaller libraries though. read more

Nice little library. I like the big metal teepee/cone thing that's the kids area. I went on a thursday late afternoon after work and it wasn't loud or anything then. The librarians were really helpful, parking was easy, getting a library card was free and painless. read more

I'm a private tutor; I work with my students in a number of different places. Some libraries are 'tutor-friendly.' This one "not friendly." In any way... The librarians will harass you if you speak. I've heard them 'snap' at a number of children, who were in the children's section. read more

Wouldn't recommend this library if you want a quiet place to read. I was trying to do so one day but couldn't due to a woman using the library to work her job. It wouldn't have been bad except she was making work calls that were lasting a significant amount of time making it hard to concentrate on what I was reading not to mention hearing her conducting business. I initially thought I should move but asked myself, "what is a library for, anyway?". I eventually went to the front desk and two workers there explained that they want the library to be a "community" library and so it was okay for her to be there. I said a community location would be a rec center or coffee shop but they thought I should visit another library that offered quiet areas. So I guess I won't be using my "community" library and will have to drive farther away to another library. It's worth driving to Douglas County libraries, so much better. read more

Since this has been the closest library to my residence since our move here, it has been the library of choice. It is a decent library. The staff is helpful and friendly, the facility is clean and orderly, and it is easy to locate the items you are looking for. One thing I have noticed has changed in the library since I've grown up is the noise levels. I mean, people have loud conversations, in person and on phones, and don't control their children. I don't know if it is the pretentious nature of the area or is that the new norm. Aside from that, I enjoy the branch. I have moved slightly farther North so it is no longer the closest branch but I still frequent it since I am very familiar with the layout and can avoid the deer in the headlights look I would experience attempting to familiarize myself with another branch closer to me. read more

There is always parking, and it's always easy to go in, get what I want, and leave again. If you are like me and like to request books so that the actual library visit is an in-and-out-in-five-minutes kind of person, Castlewood is your library. Or, if you are like me and like to sit down at a computer to check e-mail and surf for a bit because you have 15 minutes to kill, Castlewood is your library. It's small (there is no way this place could compare to Smoky Hill) but it's pretty much everything I could ask for in a small local library. read more

This is the most pleasant public library I've ever visited. I am not a big library person, but, when I did go, I was so surprised and impressed by their selection. I was more impressed with how helpful, courteous and thorough the staff is. They weren't just nice to me; I could hear them dealing with other patrons and they were so courteous and patient with everyone. I have been to Koebel before and, while that library is larger, this one has a much better service. read more

Great location in the DTC area. Not a ton of computers compared to other libraries but still a decent number. I can't comment on the book selection as I have not taken any books from here. Otherwise, staff is friendly and usually it isn't too busy. read more

Staff at this library are very friendly and helpful. As for the books, they have lots of different varieties of novels but hard to find professional or text books. They don't seem to carry most recent ones as well as the books in foreign languages. read more

Castlewood is a great library for my needs. They have a great movie selection and usually have the books I want to read. It is on the smaller side and for me it can be hard to focus if I am working on things on my laptop. It's very small and you can see everything going on from most places to sit which can be distracting! Staff is always friendly with smiles on their faces. read more
