We were having about 75 people. I read the reviews and every review about the food being good was true! We had a mix of Caribbean family and friends and I was concerned but they all raved about the food. My father in law asked who made the chicken which is the ultimate compliment. Several others asked about the food and all of them took food to go. We ordered the Island Flair meal, which came with jerk chicken, sweet plantains, garden salad w/dressing, and rice and peas. A la carte we got herb roasted chicken, green beans, and an extra pan of sweet plantains and meatballs. The price was reasonable and the food came on time. Fantastic experience with Douglas K catering. We planned a small wedding celebration (25 guests) with less than a week's notice. Amazing! We needed a buffet for 200+ people for after a funeral service. The staff was respectfully professional and thorough, from the set-up to the event to the clean-up. The exceptional variety of food was flavorful and delicious. And the temperature of the food throughout the evening was consistent, so the last person eating something ate it as good as the first person. We used Douglas K's Team for an 80's Party this past weekend. Everything exceeded our expectations. Absolutely the worst. I put in an online order for meatballs ($58) on Friday morning. I received a confirmation email and my credit card was charged. I was instructed to pick up the order on Sunday at 9:15 am. Sunday morning I drive 30 minutes, arrive at 9:15 am, only to find no one there. I called and was told that they knew nothing about my order and they were not working that Sunday. I'm sorry but you don't check your online orders? I was planning on bringing the meatballs to a luncheon and then had to run around trying to find a replacement. I spent a total of 2 hours trying to find meatballs. The owner (?) said they were going to refund me the money. Big deal. I think they owe me an order of meatballs. read more

I was invited to the opening of a new BB&T Bank in Coconut Creek sponsored by Douglas K. Katering. I was blown away by the wonderful food and drink. I was so impressed by the quality of the food. It was presented flawlessly. Noone had to wait in line. There was a table of food--fruit, cheese, meatballs, veggies on a skewer, and several very sweet servers walking around with trays of Shrimp Cocktail, Chicken and Waffles, Potatoes stuffed with beef and cheese, and Grilled Cheese sandwiches that were classic. Douglas K. had a wonderful open bar with a fabulous, friendly bartender who provided me with delicious ice-cold Corona Lights. Everything was terrificly tasty. All of the small details were attended to. The servers and bartender knew just what they were doing. Every time I turned around there was a server with a new delicious dish waiting for me. They cleaned up the empty dishes promptly. I loved everything that was served, including fantastic desserts. If I hear that Douglas K. Katering is doing a party that I can attend, I am sure to be there! They put out an adequate number of chairs for everyone. They didn't run out of food. When Clyde and I go to the Grand Opening of a new bank we expect to hear about their CD rates. Sometimes banks have great opening specials. We did learn about their interest rates and got to meet the super friendly people who work at the BB&T Bank in Coconut Creek. We didn't expect a fabulous catered event with an open bar. The bar and food was catered by Douglas K. Katering. The bartender was so nice. He's also super talented, making the best Margaritas I've ever tasted. The food was delicious. There was a table set up with little meatballs, spinach in filo dough, vegetable kabobs, a cheese platter, crackers, a fruit platter, and desserts. Servers walked around with trays laden with shrimp cocktail, stuffed baked potatoes, crab cakes, fried chicken and waffles, and grilled cheese with tomato soup. Everything was delicious. The desserts were wonderful also. Great assortment. I'm still thinking about the chocolate cake. It was fun to see Yelper friends Nancy, Dennis, and Linda enjoying the food. I had the pleasure of tasting some of Douglas Katering's best dishes tonight along with Diane and Clyde at the opening of BB&T Bank located on the north west corner of state road 7 and coconut creek parkway this evening. I arrived and was immediately served an awesome grilled cheese bite that was made with a delicious challa bread resting in tomato bisque. It was warm and crunchy and always tastes so good with tomato soup/bisque. I never got to taste the crab cake but i heard it was delicious, I did get to try the coconut chicken and waffles. That was out of this world scrumptious. Small enough that you got a few bites and mapley enough that it wasnt dry. The coconut breading on the chiicken really added that pop to the dish. I got to try the shrimp cocktail with cocktail sauce that was very good. The loaded baked potato skin was tangy with a horseradish based cheese that kicked it up a notch and the brisket of beef hidden under the layer of melted cheese was a real treat and paired well with the potato skin. In steam trays there were mini bar b que mini meatballs and mini spinach quiches. Both were very tasty and easy to eat in one bite. The meatballs were juicy and saucy and the quiche was fluffy and loaded with spinach with a flaky filo crust. There was a fresh fruit and cheese plate. The crackers were in cute shapes. I grabbed a butterfly one and some swiss and cheddar cheese cubes and some strawberries and grapes and some pineapple and got a coke a cola from the bar which was open bar for 2 hours. Diane said the margaritas were delicious and clyde and his harmonica were drinking corona. I also got to see yelpers Dennis and Linda from deerfield beach. I always enjoy time with my Yelp friends. I have an account at BB&T so it was nice to be able to attend their grand opening and sample some treats from Douglas Katering. I asked the chef(he had walked through the crowd twice) if he cooks at home. "I cook for my wife and daughter every night." he boasted. They sure are lucky. The food is very good and I would consider having Douglas "kater" my next party or gathering even though I love catering my own parties myself. I am so excited to write a review for Douglas Catering. Not only is this team professional and fun, they went above and beyond to be sure our party was a memorable success and the food was delectable! As usual, food makes or breaks an event but thanks to this caterer, we still have people talking about the choices that were collaborated on with Doug, who is an expert in his own right. Our group dined on Barbeque Baby Back Ribs and Roasted Chicken that melted off the bone and right into one's mouth. This was accompanied by a delectable Signature Salad with walnuts, cranberry raisins and crumbled gorgonzola (that we now plan to order for future catering events), a 5-Way Mac n' Cheese that made adults and kids alike go back for seconds and gourmet cupcakes that several of us smuggled out for an evening treat. The chef was on hand preparing everything for guaranteed freshness and anytime I looked the way of the service staff, they were there to assist me. Personally I have worked with caterers that last 18+ years for corporate events, but not one took the time to make certain every detail was perfect, whose team assisted in even helping me decorate when timing was not on my side and Doug personally made it his priority to keep us on budget while offering a few suggestions for our holiday event.
