Dropped the car off told them the problems and mentioned, when braking, the car pulled a little to the left. Later they called with a diagnostic fee which seemed a little high but wanted it fixed. Someone called back the next day told me they had changed the oil and recharged the air conditioning and found leaks at both Schrader valves which they replaced (part of the diagnostic fee I imagine) and I needed $2000 worth of brake work, (front pads and rotors, rear shoes and drums, front calipers, BG brake system service). My response was, "that is a third of what the car was worth, put it back together and the car will be picked up. A total of $2875.81 of work and parts were declined by me. " Just to be on the safe side, two weeks later the same vehicle was taken to another auto repair shop to have the brakes checked, their receipt says "Inspect brakes, approximately 50% -OK". The brakes are working fine. There is probably a large gap as to what is needed for vehicle repairs and what the manufacturers suggests and how much money you have.

During these 34 years never have I felt over charged for the vast array of repairs this family owned business has provided. There is a cliche at says "you can't fix stupid"; however, on multiple occasions Ray's Garage has proven that "stupid" can be fixed when they have repaired vehicles that were mechanically damaged when one (1) of the six (6) operators did something "stupid". The level of customer service and quality work performed at Rays Garage is the only reason I have never searched for another automotive repair provider. I've never been given the run around or felt like I was being taken advantage of as a female. A lot of mechanics take advantage of women and try to charge us more thinking we don't know any better but this place doesn't do that. I was taking my car to Vandevere and paying 100.00 for an oil change when Ken's charges me 45.00 for the same service. Also it takes them maybe half an hour versus three hours at the dealer. So, they did part of the repairs and sealed everything up so I could haul the horse over the weekend. I then left the Yukon at his shop the next week and he completed the job early and I now have air conditioning! This was not just the air conditioner, he also had to address wiring issues to complete the job! Very disappointed with my experience…read more I brought my car in for a routine oil change and tire rotation. The oil was changed and the tires were rotated, but shortly afterward the right front started shaking badly while driving. I took the car back and was told that one of the wheel studs was bad. I was charged to have the stud replaced, but the shaking was still there. I returned again and was told the tires were balanced. After that, the car still shook. At that point I took the vehicle to another repair shop on Massillon Road in Springfield. They inspected the tire and discovered that there was water inside it. What I don't understand is how this wasn't discovered here. The problem started immediately after the tires were rotated, I brought the car back more than once specifically because of the shaking, and the tires were supposedly balanced. I would think that during a proper inspection and balancing of that wheel, something this unusual should have raised a red flag. Instead, I paid for another repair, made multiple trips back, and still left with the exact problem I came back to have corrected. Another shop was ultimately able to find the issue. Based on my experience, I have very little confidence in the tire work or troubleshooting that was done here.
