Working with Briana was the best decision we made during my pregnancy. She was highly recommended by my sister's midwife, and I am so happy we found her. Briana is the greatest Doula. She was our foundation in our daughter's birth. This was our second child and we decided to have a home birth with south coast midwifery. Wow... our 2nd child birth was an adventure. The biggest mistake was to go with south coast midwifery, the owner, was horrible in giving birth at our home. From the time we met her, we knew that she was the perfect addition to our birth team. She is super knowledgeable about all things related to birth, and she has this calming effect that is almost magical. She is all about putting mom in the driver's seat and empowering her to make the right choices during the birth process. My wife and I had tons of anxiety with this being our first VBAC, but Briana put us at ease with all of the pre-birth counseling and text support. We are so thankful for Briana! She helped us to prepare for the home birth of our first baby and was such a calm yet strong presence during labor. As soon as I met her, I felt like we clicked and got along really well, and knew she would be the support we needed. We did private HypnoBirthing classes with her since none of the group classes worked for our schedules around the holidays. The relaxation techniques we learned are invaluable. During labor, she always seemed to know exactly what I needed in that moment... a hip squeeze, essential oils, a position change, a hand to hold. She also was very helpful in providing suggestions for my partner to better support me. When the later part of my labor started to progress quickly after my water broke, Briana remained so calm even though the midwives weren't there yet. She called to get them on their way and then continued to provide confident support as my body began to push my baby out. I wasn't sure about having a doula. I kind of figured my husband would just do all that extra work. We visited with some of our friends who had just had their baby and they were raving about their doula and how she was just so easy to vibe with and trust. So I started to think about how I might feel (during labor) the stress and weight my husband would be taking on if he was doing all the extra "stuff" a crazy laboring woman would need...so I called Briana. My husband felt that she was the first doula that made him feel like a part of the process. We met with her twice before the birth where she went over some techniques and things I could do to make myself more comfortable throughout pregnancy. She also walked us through nursing techniques and answered any questions we had about our new addition. During the delivery she was AMAZING. She stayed with us the entire time (9am- midnight) and made the delivery room comfortable. Briana was such an incredible part of our birthing experience from our very first meeting, where she instantly felt like an old friend, to our postnatal visit where she came to check to see how we were all doing. She was always available and I stayed in contact with her all day. Once we were at the hospital and labor hadn't really gotten going she was such an amazing resource of explaining the medical jargon in a way that I could actual understand and make an informed decision. My husband and I are so grateful that Briana was a part of our birthing experience! We met with her prior to my due date and she asked us about the type of birth we were envisioning, if we needed any additional supplies (birthing ball, stool), or anything else she might need to know like whether or not we wanted pictures or videography. Briana checked up on me as my due date passed and made sure to see how I was feeling. When I finally went into labor she came very quickly and was immediately supportive in any way that my husband and I needed.
