    I had a very disappointing experience at this dental office…read more When I arrived for my appointment, I was asked to complete an annual medical questionnaire. I explained that I did not have my glasses with me and was unable to read the form. The receptionist, Heather, responded by pointing out that I had completed the sign-in sheet, in a tone that I found accusatory and dismissive. I explained that I was familiar with the sign-in sheet and that the print was larger, but that I could not read the medical questionnaire. After being asked to wait, the receptionist returned and again insisted that the form be completed. I reiterated that I was not refusing to provide the information; I simply could not read the form because of my vision impairment. I was then told that the dentist would not see me unless the form was completed. What was most troubling was that no assistance or accommodation was offered. No one offered to read the form aloud, help complete it based on my answers, provide a larger-print version, or suggest any alternative. Instead, I was left feeling as though I was being treated with suspicion rather than understanding. As a result, I left without being seen and without receiving the dental care I had scheduled. Patients with vision impairments deserve to be treated with respect and provided reasonable accommodation when needed. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I like Dr. Rotem. However, based on this, and several other disappointing interactions with his office staff, I think I would benefit going elsewhere for my dental needs.

    What a fabulous practice! New to the area and had yet to establish a relationship with a local…read moredentist. Broke a back tooth last evening and began a google search this morning for an emergency dentist. Family Dentistry of Toms River was the first result that popped up. A quick glance showed positive reviews so I made the call. I'm so glad that I did! They got me in within the hour and took all precautions with temperature check and social distancing protocols. I have extreme anxiety about going to the dentist but Jess, the assistant, was very kind and understanding of my personal needs. Dr Shariff was very easy to talk to and he took the time to listen to my concerns. I appreciate his patience and caring efforts as I'm a very nervous patient. The broken molar was 90% filling and was damaged on the back and side...I needed a crown. To my surprise I was told I would be walking out with a permanent crown in a couple of hours. Wait....what?!? No temporary, no two week wait...sign me up! I am very happy to have found Family Dentistry of Toms River, Dr Shariff, and his staff! I will recommend them to everyone I know! I couldn't ask for better service!
