Impressed with the price and the final outcome. We went with them impulsively, and while I wasn't…read moresure about the colors, they put me at ease. Next time, I will be less stressed and know more of what I want.

We hired Morin Bros Painting to paint our entire newly-remodeled basement, install six doors and…read morecut/install trim and baseboard throughout. On the last day the crew was there, we did a very brief walk-through with the owner, Martin Morin. We pointed out a couple items that still needed to be addressed. He said to let him know once the flooring was installed and he would send someone out to complete these things/touchups. We contacted him at least five times in texts/voicemails after this occurred, but never received any response. Unfortunately, we found numerous other problem areas after our walk-through, so it was important that he return to take care of these. The first thing we discovered is that even though we requested in writing that the walls be painted with a velvet finish, they used matte. We asked for satin finish on the trim, baseboards and doors. While they used satin on the doors, only some of the trim had satin and none of the baseboards, where they used flat instead. Some of the door trim had both satin and flat on the same trim, which looked really bad! The ceilings were supposed to be done in a flat finish and instead they only used primer. There was a total disregard for the finish of paint that was applied. As a result, we had to repaint all of the baseboards and about half the trim ourselves. There were numerous other problems, i.e. none of the windows were caulked like they said they were going to do. Several of the wood mitered joints were not angled correctly. Three pieces of baseboard were never cut/installed. They drilled holes for the bracket of a bifold door on the wrong side, and while they then drilled holes on the correct side, they never repaired the incorrect holes. We specifically asked them to use painter's tape to cover all the electrical boxes before spraying, but they only covered about half of them. The wires in one of the boxes were so covered in paint we had to hire an electrician to sort out the mess, so that we could install the light fixture. This cost us an additional $100. There were lengths of wall where painter's tape was not properly applied and the paint seeped onto the baseboard and was never touched up. In some areas the primer peeled off and was not sanded down, just painted over. Speckles, blips and drips of paint were simply ignored in a fair number of spots. The sanding of the wood before priming was haphazard at best. To ensure that he was aware of this, we also sent a letter and photos to both his business and home. We figured that it took us about 30 hours to correct all these issues. Morin charged us $7,000 for this work, 50% of which we paid as a down-payment and the balance upon "completion". In retrospect, we should have held 20% until he returned to address these problems. So much for trustworthy contractors. Morin has been given ample opportunity to respond, but we still have not heard a word. We strongly urge you to look elsewhere for your painting/carpentry needs. This company does substandard work and does not stand behind it, despite being told by the owner that they would.
