I'd say 85% of the students in my class either work in the plumbing, construction, or hvac industry and have some sort of knowledge of the things they will be doing. I will be graduating with my BS in Community and Human Services in May 2014. This college is geared towards working adults, and utilizes a "guided - independent study" approach. IT IS NOT AN ONLINE SCHOOL, but does offer 100% online courses. The guided independent study approach is very flexible in that you work primarily at your own pace, submit your assignments and then meet with your instructors roughly once per month per class. As someone who has done the traditional "brick and mortar" style learning and online learning, for me the independent study proved to be the best avenue for me to learn. This school is exactly what you make of it , right down to designing your degree planner. Your assigned Mentor and instructors highlight the fact that each course is geared toward your personal interests, so it makes the course work interesting and enjoyable. I feel I have learned a lot with my education. The school and course work heavily emphasizes writing work as most of your assignments. If this scares you, it shouldn't because the school offers many avenues to help you critique your writing work as well as offers writing workshops. My mentor, faculty and staff are very pleasant to work with and are very accommodating, all while getting a high quality education. Because of my education at Empire, I have been accepted into Adelphi University's Masters of Social Work program and will be starting in the Fall of 2014! I would advise anyone who is self-motivated, well organized and interested in learning to attend this school! Hope this helps someone looking to attend!

Now here comes the bad stuff, this is FAR from a Catholic based school (head south if you want the proper experience) and it's really only in name and the fact that it has a Chapel, but my main gripe is the administration they could care less about the individual student and only care about how you perform and handing them money in the end. It doesn't feel as inclusive a school as it should and the lack of communication and support is astonishing especially considering I have a disability and have had my own struggles. The final nail in the coffin was them mandating the vaccine when not much earlier they were ready to open up mostly mask free. They won't even mandate the staff which is absurd on so many levels and unfair to students who should have the choice to just have to wear the mask and not be constantly tested or receive a rushed vaccine. But this is besides the point, so much is wrong with this school and COVID surely hasn't helped. You also got to be prepared to shell out even more money for the new building being worked on. I signed up so my child can get some experience and learn and it was right in my neighborhood. I do not recommend Sunrise little league. The clinics were very unorganized. It was a guessing game once you arrived as to what field the kids would practice on. The "professional coaches" advertised are volunteer parents and SUNY Farmingdale college kids ages 18-20. When the kids weren't fooling around on a line waiting to practice goofing off in the cold they were waiting to be told what to do which these volunteers didn't know how to themselves. I attempted to call the league expressing my frustrations as a paying customer but on their web site there isn't even a phone number! They have listed a PO Box address. I talked to other people in the neighborhood & was shocked to find out that a member of their board has a drug issue & was recently discharged from rehab. Showed me around beforehand so I was comfortable setting up the event, took us through safety protocols and then in a very safe and fun experience we all learned how to work a bunch of the big machines. They were easy going, very engaging and everyone had a blast. After leaving when I see a backhoe on the side of the road it reminds me of that day and am kinda tempted to get in and give it a spin. And we got to crush things!! Highly recommended.

For the most part these people are all loving and caring. This is our 3rd daycare and it has been going great so far. The two…read morestar rating is because "Ms. D" and "Ms. Stacey" showed genuine care for our son while he was enrolled. Our experience started in early August 2019 when my Wife returned to work after maternity. We scouted a few day care facilities prior to landing with KinderCare and though they were the most expensive of the ones we researched, we went with them because of their stellar reviews, personal recommendation, and proximity to our place of work. Our (then) four month old son started his first week with three incident reports, all in his first three days at KinderCare. All of the incident reports entailed wounds to his face; two self inflicted and one by another child. As concerned parents, we addressed this with the facility director and assistant director immediately. We were assured that we would be contacted asap should our son be hurt again while under their supervision. Though they made good (for the most part) on this assurance, the incident reports continued to flow. In addition to the numerous incident reports, the daily reports they sent to us were inaccurate and lacked detail most of the time. More recently, when I picked-up my son from KinderCare, I noticed a series of scratches around his right eye. I immediately called my wife and she said that she did not receive a call regarding an incident from the day. When she went to follow-up, she was informed (by Ms. Pat) that he had those scratches when she dropped him off in the morning. In addition it was explained (by Ms. Pat) that the staff is "unable to give him the attention he wants when they are with another kid, so we leave him in the crib crying and he flails his arms." In other words, you choose dereliction of duty. If you have read the review to here, I think you can digress that we are attentive parents. As we began to scout other options for daycare, our anxiety increased every day we dropped him off. For two working parents, it is not easy leaving your child in the care of folks you barely know; it is even more frustrating knowing that you are paying for subpar care. His last day at KinderCare (in early October) entailed another sloppy daily report, consisting of mostly vague/incomplete details. The facility wasn't sure if they forgot to feed him (for six hours) or if they gave him another child's formula? To this day it remains a question mark and a scar on two new parents and their five month old son. We are just happy that he is not there anymore.
