My wife and I worked out with Kevin for 3 years (2017-2020) in California, but recently parted ways because he moved to Austin, Texas. Bummer for us, but a win for Austinites! Kevin was a great trainer for us. His workouts had a ton of variety and never felt dull or "more of the same." He would work us through classic barbell/dumbell strength training, functional movements, stretching, plyo, cardio+strength circuits, core strength, kettlebells, resistance bands, TRX, bodyweight, etc. Every session was unique. I worked with Kevin for a little under three months. Despite this relatively short time, I saw noticeable results from training with him twice a week. My low back had been in bad shape after an injury requiring surgery about a year and a half prior, but after only 1.5 months of training with Kevin, my back was feeling stronger and better than it had in years. It was truly surprising but very motivating to see the positive results and gains, feeling stronger and overall healthier in such a short time. The workouts could certainly be tough, but it felt like Kevin would push me just the right amount to keep me motivated but not overextend. He kept things very casual and each workout felt overall very positive. Kevin started me out pretty slow making sure my low back strengthened before giving me more difficult movements. At first I was admittedly hesitant because I had been actively trying to avoid re-injuring, but wow, just doing the basic exercises in a principled and consistent way really made a difference. I met Kevin about three years ago when I needed to get in shape to compete on the reality show, Survivor, for the second time in my life.  My first stint on Survivor occurred back in 2006 when I was a much more spry 31 years old.  I ended up winning that season, but didn't feel I had done a particularly good job of training for it physically.  Back then, I became a gym rat and worked out on my own, doing lots of weights, running, and swimming.  However, the work I put into the gym didn't translate especially well to the types of challenges I encountered on the show (it's not like we did any weightlifting competitions).  So when I got invited to go back on Survivor in 2019 -- thirteen years, two kids, and about one thousand hamburgers later -- I wanted to find a better, smarter way to get in shape in less than 10 weeks. I went through two other trainers, both of whom had great reviews, before I struck gold with Kevin.  The first trainer was overly aggressive and caused me to get a minor injury in our initial training session.  The second one didn't push me enough despite my consistent feedback.  By contrast, Kevin did a terrific job motivating me and pushing me, but without pushing too fast or too hard to the point of risking injury.  He did a careful assessment of my fitness level, goals, and time frame, and then came up with a creative conditioning plan that balanced strength training, stamina, balance, coordination, and flexibility.  Even though I was considerably older than the first time I played, I actually thought I went out there better prepared and in better overall shape than I did before.  I wasn't as strong as I was thirteen years ago (which would have been impossible anyway given my age), but I felt more agile and had more practical strength insofar as I could use my whole body more effectively in a coordinated fashion. As a second proof point, I recently asked Kevin to train me again for another competition.  This time, I was reeeally out of shape -- I hadn't worked out at all for two years due to the pandemic and a crazy work schedule -- and I had less than two weeks to get ready.  Kevin was pretty candid about the fact that there was only so much I could expect to accomplish given my current fitness level (or lack thereof) and the short time window.  Nonetheless, he did an amazing job getting me in the best shape possible without overtraining me, and I know that I ended up far more prepared than I would have been working out on my own or with anyone else. I can't recommend Kevin highly enough.  As someone who's spent most of my life doing my own thing to stay fit, I used to be pretty skeptical about having a trainer, especially given the additional expense this would entail.  Working out with Kevin made me realize that an hour spent with him was not only far more efficient, but far more effective than working out alone, as he knows how to get me in great shape across a spectrum of goals, whereas I would over-optimize for just one thing (and generally do a poor job of even that).  I'd also recommend Kevin regardless of whatever fitness level you're currently at -- whether you're just starting out, already an elite athlete, or trying to get back in shape after a long break.  From my experience, he's totally worth it. read more

Kevin's reviews speak for themselves, but I'm leaving my comment because I'm grateful. I've always been a DIY kind of person and always trained on my own. I had this impression that personal trainers were for rich lazy people who didn't know how to google or use youtube, but when I ended up in a highly stressful job that I couldn't leave, things got so bad that I was constantly angry and lashed out at everyone. I reached my breaking point and decided that I would try this because other yelp reviews said his sessions helped them feel better mentally (in addition to physically). I agree 100%. Kevin trains you without making you feel pushed or stressed. I went in thinking I was going to quit as soon as the pressure was put on me to "go harder," but he never did that. After I got done with high school football, I kind of lost my motivation to workout and be active. I'd like to add my voice to the growing chorus of those singing Kevin's praises - it's well deserved! He's an awesome trainer for so many reason. I'm someone who has always struggled with getting enough exercise, and I have some back/neck issues, so I wanted to make sure I had a trainer who knew what he was doing so that I strengthened rather than re-injured the problem areas. When I first went to Kevin about a year and a half ago, I told him about these limitations and also that I needed someone who could walk the fine line between motivating me and pissing me off. Kevin does that admirably. He makes sure to keep me moving, pays attention to and corrects my form, keeps count of the reps (as I always loose track), makes sure I am working all muscle groups, and makes sure to push me enough that I am getting a good workout but not injuring myself. He was able to work around those, and come up with a workout routine that works great for me. I have been here for about the last month and I think a lot of things have been covered by others but a few things I noticed. He does a cardio component without machines and that is very important to me because I really hate treadmills, bikes, etc even for a warm up or cool down. So far a lot more use of bands and exercise balls that I have used in the past but also a good thing to me as I have had a lot of time in the past on machines or just pure lifting. Happy to add my positive review for Kevin, to the numerous ones already listed here. I've been seeing Kevin for over 9 months now and love working out with him! He keeps the sessions interesting, never predictable/boring so your body never gets used to his workouts (which is a good thing!) I am a runner but have dealt with some injuries this year that had me sidelined from running for many weeks - I was to maintain my fitness level thanks to Kevin's workouts (which he'd modify to account for injuries), and this allowed me to return to running much more easily. I couldn't run from Feb through end of April but kept seeing Kevin regularly and I was able to return to running May and complete a half marathon in July! Kevin is a great listener, pays very close attention to form ( very important to me, especially when I'm lifting heavier weights), and can incorporates variety different kinds of workouts if you'd like to do something specific - I like boxing and he will incorporate boxing drills into my sessions. He is responsive when you reach out to him and flexible to work with when you have to reschedule for some reason.
