You cruise to Mornington (the town, on the peninsula) to grab some good ole fashioned fish & chips on the beach. Whilst Ocean Bounty isn't right on the beach, it is really conveniently located on Wilsons Rd, just minutes from the Mornington shoreline. The menu is as you would expect, fish, chips, burgers, and all of the other deep-fried bits and pieces. Ocean Bounty pride themselves on a great potato-cake. I find that most deep fried food tastes the same so couldn't tell the difference. A connoisseur may be able to however. As with most fish and chips places, they are no longer the cheapest options, nor the healthiest of foods. But if you're a little hungry and after an experience of sun, surf, sand, and fish and chips, then Ocean Bounty in Mornington is well worth the trip.

Only when we got home did we realize it was only half the food- the person ringing up our order had not realized there was a whole second bag of fish, and had not charged or given it to us. We called them up and it was still waiting on the counter. Went back to collect it and they apologized profusely, said the fish was on the house and threw in some extra chips and scallops. When I said they didn't need to do that, and I was very happy to pay, they smiled and said the owner/manager would not let them take our money and apologized again. Excellent meal, fish was very light and tasty and fresh. Chips were just right. Best fish and chips I've had on the peninsula, and they went above and beyond in terms of service. My latest visit was with a ratbag bunch of mates whereby 15 of us all made individual orders. I opted for the salt and pepper calamari pack which came with salad and chips. I was expecting one of those lame mesclun salad with one piece of tomato and one piece of cucumber. Not the case. It was a perfect portion of shredded (!) cucumber, onion and tomato on a bed of clean spinach leaves and a punchy dressing. The calamari was real, fresh and huge! I'm talking pieces the size of your hand covered in a salt and pepper powder (not floured). All of this with the addition of a bed of golden chips below. Oh yeah! There is plenty of seating inside and out, with the outside bench seats offering a view on to the waterfront which is stunning during sunset!
