I…read morewas unsure if they had any sort of "kids under 2 are free" type policy, so I wasn't sure if my 22-month-old counted as part of our two, but the website said you could pay $10 for additional people when you're at the farm, so I did not worry about it. We weren't charged more at the farm, but still not sure what the official policy is. My husband, I, our toddler, and newborn went on a Saturday morning and had the place to ourselves. You book in advance on the website, and the self-guided tour is booked for 45 minutes. We saw a cow, alpaca, their famed mini-highland cow, chickens, dogs, ducks, a pig, baby (or small) goats, geese, an emu, and rabbits. The geese were a bit aggressive, but Renee put them away for us, which was much appreciated. The alpaca and ducks didn't want much to do with us, but the emu, goats, dogs, and pig were all very friendly. The cow was also very chill and didn't mind us petting him, but wasn't enthusiastic about our presence. I was a little freaked out by the emu, Lulu, but Renee assured us that she was curious but harmless and by the end we were all great friends. Some things to know: do not wear your best shoes. There are, understandably, animal droppings everywhere. There is a walking path from where you park to where you pet the animals, but the animal area is not stroller-friendly. Also, the goats may try to eat your stroller, which can't be good for them. I just baby-wore, and that worked great for us; we'll plan to do that from the start next time. The instructions say to park and then walk up to the big red barn. There were two red barns and nobody at either of them, so we weren't entirely sure if we needed to check-in or something. We also weren't sure if we could just start petting the animals we saw or if there was a specific place we were supposed to be. Renee came out after we'd been there about 10 minutes and chatted for a bit, but having someone greet us and tell us where to start, or at least some clear signage, would have given this the 5th star.

When it comes to the wedding world of Austin, she knows EVERYONE and has great rapport with all of them. She has contacts at countless venues, catering companies, rental companies, bakeries, etc. and was able to help negotiate/communicate on our behalf. This was especially helpful when it came to communication with countless vendors because she was able to take care of so many details with the vendors so that I didn't have to. She made us feel like her #1 priority throughout the entire wedding-planning process and I have no doubt that she makes all her couples feel the same way. However, this made us feel like we weren't just a job or a date on her calendar. She made us feel like she actually cared and I truly believe she does! We looked at several other venues and chose Bentwood because of the serene beauty of the grounds. The reception area has beautiful wood tables and a stage with a lit dance floor. Stage area set up for DJ or Band with lights strung throughout. There is a wonderful walkway down to a pond area with an alter. There are 4 rooms that come with the weekend package. 1 with bunkbeds, 3 with queen size beds. The grooms area was set up with a pool table, dart board and refrigerator to keep the boys occupied while the girls got ready in a beautiful bridal room. Other venues we looked at gave you a couple of hours before and after the event to set up, have the ceremony and then clean up. We liked the fact that with the weekend package we could set up on friday, enjoy saturday and clean up Sunday. They have several packages to cover almost any need. We have been to several weddings this year and I have to say that Bentwood was by far the best venue.
