I had a venue booked for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary... then came COVID…read more The venue cut to 50% capacity, which made it too small. I had to cancel and re-think everything. The venue needed to be large enough to accommodate distancing, catering and food service was sketchy since many places closed, local restrictions were fluid and I didn't live in the city where the event would be held. At one point, I thought we wouldn't be able to celebrate more than having a small dinner. It was discouraging. Then I found Milestone Memories and Events. I had a good feeling about Geri after our first phone call. The second call confirmed my initial impression. I needed someone with experience and good judgment that I could trust for advice. After all, large events take hundreds of decisions and bad choices can create bad experiences for all the guests. To give context, the guest list was 250 people. Given the circumstances, I estimated 100-150 would attend. The final RSVP count came in at 140. This was not a small event and we pulled it off in four months! Here are just a few highlights of my great experience with Milestone Memories: - We developed a budget, and came in under - They got to know us and designed decor and settings to match (my mom loved everything!) - Everything LOOKED AMAZING, tables, center pieces, lighting, photo backdrop, entry tables - All the logistics like how people enter, move, exit, accounting for seating, everything was great - They found the venue, catering, music and negotiated many details so I only made major decisions. I can't tell you how important that is because it can be overwhelming dealing with multiple contracts when the event is personal. - They took care of my parents and were so thoughtful of all their needs on the day of the event - Excellent communication throughout Geri and her staff are genuine, caring people and I'm so thankful we met. Don't misunderstand, she's a skilled project manager and straight forward communicator that will take care of business! What I mean is she thought of details that I could never have thought of. For example, she created a space for my parents to rest before the event and stocked it with a beautiful snack tray. She arranged a "Grand Entrance" which turned out amazing. My parents had a "first dance", and I mean they had never danced in public before, even at their wedding. This was Geri's idea and it made such an impact! This is the longest review I've written and it is still too short. What a great 4 month journey this was with Geri to create such a memorable celebration for my parents! People are still talking about it a week later. I still get emails and texts complimenting how great it was, and we have the best pictures to help us remember. Here's are a few things people are saying: "elegant", "fun", "relaxed", "beautiful", "amazing!"... My mom and dad loved everything! After working with Geri and her team for 4 months, I 100% recommend them to anyone needing a spectacular event!

I filled out the online request form and was sent a bid back. I responded but never heard anything…read moreback so a few days later i emailed to confirm we were set. Later that day i got another bid, with the same price, but a follow up to make payment. The day of the event, i had not been contacted by anyone to confirm that someone was actually coming so we just hoped they were. Luckily they showed up 30 minutes prior as it was stated and i thought we would be great. I had asked for a 7:30-10:30 time slot and was what i paid for previously. Towards the end of the night, I made a round telling guests it was last call and to get their final drinks if they wanted. A guest at the event asked how much we would have to pay for him to stay another hour. He didn't ever say an amount but when the guest handed him a $100.00 bill, he said he would stay. About 30 minutes into this, I went to him and thanked him while also giving him a $100.00 tip. At about 11:30 he came up to me and said that he was about to be taking off. I thanked him again and everything seemed great. He then asked me how he got payment and that I was suppose to pay him on site for the service. This is after he had been tipped by myself and the extra $100.00 for the extra hour. I let him know that i had given my credit card info to the company and they should be paying him. He gave me his cell number and email before leaving. The following week i noticed on my card statement that i had been charged $82.24 over what my bid was. I called twice and left a voicemail and also emailed. About 3 hours later, i received an email with an updated invoice charging me for overtime. I immediately called and got no answer but left a voicemail. The following day i called and emailed with no answer. The next day i called and let them know, on voicemail, that i would be contesting the charge with my bank. Later that night i finally got my first phone call through this whole thing from the company. I told them what had happened and was informed that the bartender is responsible for calling and seeing if extra hours would be approved and no cash should be exchanged. Also that they should not have asked me for payment while there. i was told that they needed to speak with a supervisor and would get back to me. Two days later i got a call back saying that they would be refunding me the difference and would speak with the bartender about procedure. eleven days later i still haven't gotten a refund and all communication has stopped. I realize its not a lot of money but everything that has happened just seemed a little shady and the lack of any phone communication didn't help this.

He was available for our second date of choice, but then that got pushed back too so we tried a third time. We spoke over text/email, and I felt a connection. That connection grew stronger when we spoke briefly on the telephone, but once we met Fr Jef in person, I had zero doubt that he was the officiant for us. He is kind, caring, has a tangible warmth, and above all is just a terrific person. He is professional but still can absolutely joke around and have a great time. He is also absolutely hilarious. His attention to detail is second to none. I am not sure what his middle name actually is, but my guess would be punctual because he is NEVER not on time which is obviously fantastic. He put our minds at ease, and we just felt safe and secure in his presence. The speech he wrote for us at our wedding was simultaneously beautiful, touching, and downright funny. I could tell everyone in attendance LOVED him. But above all, I love him. He is the right man for the job and makes every single couple feel so special on their big day. After the ceremony, I had probably 10 different people come up to me and say how wonderful they thought Fr Jef was. I said well of course he is - he's Fr Jef Johnson for crying out loud! They of course asked where I had found him, and I said that he had officiated my cousin's wedding in 2016, but I am assuming if you are reading this review right now then that means you are looking for someone to look out for you on your wedding day. Well let me tell you this: look no further. You've found the officiant for you, and it's Fr Jef. Thank you for everything, Jef! We couldn't be happier with our decision.

When going through multiple websites, I noticed that the officiants are always standing next to the couple for their first kiss. James let us know ahead of time that halfway through the ceremony he moves to the side so that it will only be the couple in the first kiss pictures. I would never have thought about this and was so happy when he mentioned it. I'm definitely glad we chose James as the officiant of our wedding, and we would highly recommend.
