Upon contacting various companies, Main & Sons was the first to offer an in-home estimate. This is where the bad review starts: It took a week to get someone here to do the estimate, which was fine, as they said they'd been busy. Once here, the technician was courteous enough, and seemed to know what he was doing. Upon leaving, I was informed that someone would contact me with an estimate. Someone DID contact me the following Monday, wherein they gave me the estimate through email. On their own website, it says to ask about the makes and models and serial numbers of any product used in the job, so I replied with those questions. Not only did I receive a poorly worded response, but it was one sentence, explaining that when the installer got the info to them, they'd get the info to us. It took two weeks for them to come up with the make and model of JUST the furnace. Meanwhile, we had been struggling to keep our house warm the entire time. Maybe I could have and should have contacted more companies, because when we finally had enough of being cold, we contacted another company, who had the estimate done the next day, and the new furnace installed the following day. Here's the thing. Don't give estimates if you don't have a clue what is actually in the estimate, and, if a prospective customer says they are cold, you find a way to help, or you IMMEDIATELY decline to do the job. Simple as that. I will absolutely never be using this company for anything.

I needed service on my geothermal unit and Tinman was one I chose to do the work. The first time…read morewas great (about 7 years ago) they came out quickly, polite, and price wasn't that bad. About 14 months later we had unit replaced. We found one at cost but Tinman would not install it because we didn't buy it from them. Now in Dec 2024 we called Tinman as we had a very expensive bill. They told us "This part needs replaced, this part only may last 18-24 months, and after I replaced this part (costing $2K already) I hear a leak from somewhere. We need to tear down a wall to get to it. It could be $6K to $10K. I would just suggest replacing it at $35K." We had a second opinion and was told the problem was nothing Tinman said what was wrong was fixed at less than $500. The second person went through our unit and said nothing is wrong with it. It has been running fine ever since. I feel Tinman is only out to get an up sale on your problem. They always add in a yearly fee to come out and check the unit once or twice. They always say "I corrected A but found B" just for more money. Also husband is 100% disabled Vet, we were told owner is a Vet also but does not give discounts. A true serviceman respects the service and commitment you have for our country. No regard for military.

I wanted new ducts installed and have it extend to under (in front of) my window and not in the middle of my floor. They did move it a little but not to where I told them I wanted it. People will still have to walk on it because it is still in the way. The a/c works great but for the price I am being charged I am very unhappy with it. For what they did I could have paid someone else far less. Plus I am now going to have to pay someone else to fix the old duct work.

Currently it is a week after I first contacted them and 4 days since they told me to expect the job done. Their technicians are excellent, but their staff and office workers are incompetent to the point I can't hire them again.
