After your river adventure this bus will pick you up

What a perfect way to cool off from the heat of summer. This place is just about an hour from DC. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. There is a well stocked gift shop with essentials and merch and they will even hold your keys for you. You can canoe, kayak or do lazy River tubing. My friends and I did a tubing trip this past Saturday. The river was low, so it took almost 4 hours however to float down the ricer on our tubes. Despite the hours, it was an enjoyable adventure. We rented a cooler for our drinks, brought a portable speaker and had a fun times! Don't forget your sunscreen, water shoes and waterproof bags!

Downriver Canoe Company was AWESOME! It was so fun to experience the river thru this family-run business. From start to finish you could feel the love. The staff were fun, friendly and accommodating. Facilities were well managed and clean. We had the best vacation on the river with our family. The driver was excellent , safe and told us exactly where we needed to put in our canoes & where to take them out. Felt very safe, with all my kids...even my 9 year old. Highly recommend Downriver Canoe Company!

We had a great time with Downriver Canoe Co. We got a 4 person raft and hit the river for a relaxing no wait stressful paddle down the river. The water level was a little low on the river. We could have used maybe 6 more inches of water. Only wish the river was a little more marked so we knew how far we had to go. Will definitely be back for another go at the river

    Beautiful rafting downstream Shenandoah River.

And there was a really cool Dobson fly on the pole outside the restaurant we had lunch at Cons - There are two lifts which were really slow. It wasn't busy at all. I can only imagine what the wait is like when it gets busy. We rode one green trail at the bottom then decided to stay at the top and rode those trails. The bike carriers on the lift are fender destroyers! Make sure to take your front fender off or it will be ripped off! Your bikes hang vertically and swing out quite violently when it leaves the loading area. There's one pricey restaurant open with a huge outdoor deck. Paid 15.50 for a chicken sandwich and 4.00 for one soda. There is also no bike rack to put your bikes in. Unfortunately, we only got to ride 2 1/2 trails. Macadamia, Creamy and part of crunchy. If you like rocky trails, this place is for you. Although it was nice and sunny, There was lightning within a 15 mile radius and the lifts never re-opened. Didn't get a chance to ride the techy black trails. Don't think we will be visiting this DH park again but I think it's worth trying it out if you're in the area. Check the weather before you go

There is no refund or discount for inclement weather. They have shin guards and elbow pads. Highly recommend protection. Some parts of the trail are narrow and could be improved. I had a great time and would like to try this again.

My nephew was just a kid and like me, loved having the freedom of a bicycle so I decided to give him my old classic Stumpjumper. Well, my nephew grew up and got a car and one day asked me if I wanted my bike back which I very happily took back. But it had been sitting in the garage for years. I originally took it to two shops in SoCal and they both said around $400. Didn't have time to fix it before moving to Arlington so took my bike with me and took it to another shop in the area and they said $800! I wasn't crazy about that so came here to Big Wheel. The owner looked at my bike and was like, $150-200. I was like, naw my bike needs a lot of work. Why don't you hold on to it and let me know? Well, he fixed it up and charged me $200! All those other shops were going to buy me new wheels. He was like, I took a good look at your wheels and they're old, but you don't need new ones. You can ride those out until they blow. Agreed. He also said he could restore it (my bike was filthy) but what was the point? It's a mountain bike. Agreed. So replaced some cables, a spoke, tightened up all the loose joints, oiled and ready to ride. I rode it to my car from the shop and it rides great! Yep, this is the place.

I really appreciated that they didn't just fix it--they made sure I understood what happened. And the little details made such a difference: they even asked me what kind of music I wanted them to play in the store while they were working on my bike. Such friendly, knowledgeable, and thoughtful customer service. I felt really taken care of and will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend Big Wheel!
