My boyfriend and I just walked in and there's basically a tour around every 45 minutes so fear not, if you have some time to kill their gift shop is enormous. Everything from sweet treats, apparel, stones, little trinkets to chess sets. Truly something for everyone. Once they announced our time we headed on over and met with our tour guide. It was very fun overall. I do recommend wearing sneakers, it's not an incredibly long walk but some parts of the ground were rocky. It's an incredible sight and everything is really detailed and explained. I loved the whole tour. You can take pictures of everything and I sure took advantage. My boyfriend got very into the tour and I can imagine everyone does. Very well thought out and rehearsed - these tour guides do a great job. I do have to mention because I think it's hilarious, as a woman if you go in with straight hair and you have a natural curl - prepare for it to curl. My hair was a fuzzball by the time I got out because the moisture in the caves is so high hahaha, just a warning! Still go though - it's a fun experience and a beautiful one too.

Our tour guide spoke with a condescending tone and made it uncomfortable to ask questions but other than that we really enjoyed the cavern. The staff was very friendly in the gift shop.

Saw so many eagles & it was fun seeing everyone get excited about it. A young George Washington was spotted in the woods & boarded our train to tell us about his time surveying the area. He walked to each car, posing for photos & answering questions. Interesting to learn he was the one who named the Trough. Basic cars to very fancy ones but I enjoyed the time in the open car the most. If planning on staying in your seat I would recommend getting the river side seats. Views are beautiful. There is a little gift shop on the train as well as a bigger one at the station. Also a snack bar on the train. I enjoyed the dining experience, food was okay. Only negative comment is the narrator was very monotone and hard to understand.

For my…read morehusband and myself, this was our second "Ride to the End of the Line" and although our first trip was great, this one exceeded any expectations we had; it was a wonderful all-around experience. There are three reasons this Potomac Eagle experience is worth repeating, and why the value is exceptional: 1. First and Foremost: The Potomac Railroad Employees From first contact to disembarking upon return to Wapacomo Station the employees made us feel welcome and valued. Although all of the employees were great, three young men stood out among their peers...Lucas, Carlos and Kalib made our trip a truly memorable experience. Immediately upon boarding, they offered us coffee or tea and throughout the day, they not only checked-in to see how we were doing, they stopped by and talked to us. I watched them treat other guests in our car the same. When we learned these young men were working their first jobs, we were amazed; they truly epitomized superior customer service. In today's world, I rarely see such outstanding care and service. Potomac Eagle is doing something right; other service providers could learn from the Potomac Eagle version of excellence. 2. Second: Superior Food throughout the trip Since we were on the all day trip, our reservation included breakfast and lunch appetizers with a small treat before we disembarked at Petersburg. Upon reboarding, Lucas and Carlos immediately welcomed us back with coffee and Arnold Palmer (lemonade-sweet tea) drinks. They kept our cups and glasses full for the entire return trip. The true value from our trip, however, was our Superior Dining experience. Chef William prepared a four-star, four-course dinner (Superior Dining class) that will bring me back later this summer for another excursion. We had beef tenderloin and Chilean Sea Bass w/Lemon for our main courses with appetizers, salads, and desserts. I felt like I gained 3 pounds from the outstanding dinner alone!! 3. Third but not least important: The Trough Canyon Experience Approximately mid-way to Petersburg, the train stops to allow passengers into their open-air gondola car for a 45-minute unobstructed view. While the train goes through the Trough Canyon, passengers see eagles soaring, dear foraging, and other natural wonders. The trip offers an opportunity only available via the Potomac Eagle...driving a car wouldn't be the same. For all the great things I can say about the Potomac Eagle experience, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the opportunities and people in Petersburg. The trip offers an additional excursion to Smoke Hole Caverns. For those who do not go to Smoke Hole, there are small vintage shops, museums, restaurants, and/or a chance to sit back, relax and to just be in the moment. It's a day away from the normal grind...Ride the Potomac Eagle to the End of the Line. Take a step back in time and enjoy!

It was a chilly day and we followed the instructions to ring the bell when we were outside. Shout out to the folks here who provide the cute cat with a heated blanket to lay on during cold weather. Members of the staff quickly came by to let us in and we walked into a empty sitting area. To be fair, it was around 3:00pm on a Wednesday. The vibe inside is eclectic, homey, and comfortable. We grabbed a seat at a table near the fire. We had time to review menu. I picked a classic Whiskey Sour and my Mom got one of their warm whiskey cocktails. Both of us really enjoyed ours. We sipped and savored them and just enjoyed a bit of a respite from our road trip. We both got a bottle of their whiskey to take home with us. These aren't your standard whiskeys and they are definitely more expensive than what you'd probably get in the liquor store. We've been enjoying our purchases at home since our visit. Copper Fox is a nice stop and I'd recommend it to folks wanting a break and a beverage.

The best drink in the tasting was their 8 yoa bourbon, very smooth and a little sweet, great for sipping or mixing. The vodka also tasted good in drinks. This was one of the best distillery I have tried. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable. The building is absolutely beautiful inside and if it's nice outside, the scenery behind the distillery is amazing with a creek running right past the back porch. The do offer charcuterie and other snacks to eat here when there are no food trucks. You are also allowed to bring your own food, which is what we did.. I can't wait to go here again when I come back next year.

The views were amazing, and the personal attention really set this apart. My husband and I came to Luray for a quiet weekend away. Katie and Jacob were our treetop guides. To say they were the best would be an understatement. Both of them were well versed in zip lining and made the experience so much fun. It was hard to be uncomfortable for long with them at the helm. Almost polar opposites - Katie was a burst of energy with an infection personality and Jacob was laid back, calming presence with an unexpected jokes that would catch you off guard. The pair made the zip lining experience that much more memorable. Highly recommended if you want a little thrill in the Luray area. If you are going in the summer, I would definitely take the earlier time slots - it gets hot up there.

But, it was late in the day on a Sunday and we had a long drive ahead of us, so we decided not to attempt to hike up the trail, but we put it as yet another item on our bucket list. We returned to the area in Sept, 2025, specifically to attempt to do the hike. No concerns as to whether my husband would be able to do it, but I have to admit that I was apprehensive as to whether I could! The brochures say that it's 1.5 miles each way (up, and then back down) and you gain almost 850' in elevation. And, did I mention that I'm in my 60s, NOT a regular hiker, and with a medical condition that affects my balance? Nonetheless, my husband and I donned our hiking boots, put on some sunscreen, packed a picnic lunch, snacks, and water, and my hiking stick -- and we were on our way! The trail is wide and well-maintained and, as others have mentioned, has steep sections, especially in the switchbacks towards the top. It's a steady climb up, and my Fitbit registered some intense exercise, but my heart rate never reached its peak category. Given my balance issues, having my walking stick and an occasional hand from my husband, especially on the descent in steep areas with roots or stones, were helpful. I tried not to be discouraged by the two very fit runners who raced by us, recognizing that the majority of hikers and dogs on leash were panting at least to some degree! There are occasional benches, especially towards the bottom, and signs pointing out ecological features. There's an observation deck at the top, with gorgeous views of the valley below, as well as shaded benches to enjoy our picnic lunch. You can't see the rocks from the observation deck. However, some hikers scramble over some additional rocks for more views though signage warns that this can be dangerous. I'm happy to report that my husband and I both completed the hike, and we are now able to cross that item off of our joint bucket list. We celebrated our accomplishment by getting some ice cream at Yokum's, just down the street! Admission to the Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area and parking is free. Staff in the Discovery Center are exceptionally helpful. There are picnic tables and restrooms at the base, and the Seneca Shadows Campground is about a mile down the street.
