She handled my 6'3" and 240 lbs with ease and listened to my every command. The process for mounting the horses and the extreme disorganization at the end of the ride were much less enjoyable. After being placed on your horse, you are left while others are mounting theirs for the ride. We waited at least 10 minutes on anxious horses that weren't happy standing around. They walked us into tree branches a few times. When we returned from the ride, the lack of staff to assist was even more apparent. Two staff members to assist 12-14 riders and horses is not sufficient. My girlfriend's horse led her through 3 prickly trees. My horse went to the watering trough and was almost bitten by another horse. This caused my horse rear back, sprint a few steps forward and start to buck. I haven't been on a horse in over 30 years, so I feel very fortunate that I was able to get her to calm down and not toss me. These issues could all be alleviated by adding 2 additional staff members. $45 for an hour trail ride seems like a fair price, but at that price you should also have enough staff on hand to handle paying customers and ensuring a pleasant and safe experience.

As someone with disabilities, I found the…read moreproperty to be less accessible than expected, making it difficult to fully enjoy the experience. One of the most frustrating moments was at dinner. Our tour group was told we could not sit by the windows and enjoy the view because we were "with a tour and not paying customers." Considering many of us paid nearly $2,000 for this trip, that was insulting. We were also not allowed to order from the regular menu and pay ourselves if we wanted something else. Unfortunately, the meal provided left me sick for going on 2 days. The resort itself also had several maintenance and convenience issues. The ice machine on our floor was broken, the snack machine and soda machine was nearly empty, and the shower had VERY poor water pressure. The gift shop closed before 7 p.m., making it impossible to purchase basic necessities when needed. There was also very little to do in the evenings. The pool closes at 8 p.m., and by 7 p.m. most activities and amenities seemed to be shut down, leaving guests with few options other than returning to their rooms to watch TV. Overall, the resort did not meet my expectations, particularly regarding accessibility, guest experience, and customer service.

The lodge area for the tube park is very small, so don't expect to be able to change clothing quickly inside due to how busy it is. There's a fire place inside and a huge fire pit outside. Very small concession inside with about 8-10 small snack items to choose from. The staff here are top notch - very kind to each other and talkative to visitors. 10 minutes before the session starts, the group gets a safety briefing and reviews the rules. There's a nurse/medic on site. This is fun for the whole family. 1200 feet long and very fast. Be sure to read the requirements online for kids. Extra safety precautions are taken onsite for young kids.

I also recommend taking a map of the preservation and trails with you, as the signs posted can be confusing. That being said once you arrive and find your way to the trail you have selected, the trails are very well maintained and marked, the scenery is spectacular. I did notice signs posted that hunting is allowed Oct -Mar and hikers should wear bright clothing during this time, I think I would just prefer to avoid the area during this time. The area was also a WWII training ground, signs are posted for visitors not to touch any ordnance they may find.

The wilderness features many different trails and lots of primitive camping. Access is from forest road 75, a gravel and dirt road that is mostly inaccessible in winter. The trails are well marked but not blaised, which can be a problem if you intend to night hike. Water is plentiful but has high levels of iron. Some of the trails are very boggy, especially the Dobbins grade trail. You are warned,! This area is so popular that on weekends it can be very crowded. Parking is limited so go early.

The area to swim is very shallow and roped off so you really do not have to worry about your child going to far out as they really can't!Great place for the summer we will definitely be back

My wife and I were on a mtb trip in the east coast, and when I asked the guy working there about some local trails he was a total a$$ hole and told me all the trails I was asking about were not real and couldn't give me any recommendations. It stuck with me, he wasn't pleasant, he didn't care to guide me to a dope trail, he just wanted to act like he was the local badass gatekeeper of the terrible trails they have in the area. Thank goodness I'm back in Colorado and would never ever go back to this shop with the attitude and lack of customer service this douche gave my wife and I.
