Best gym I've been to. Went a couple times while visiting Louisville. Staff was friendly, gym was clean. Sooo many machines, a pool, courts. This place is 7 floors. There is even a women's center with some strength and cardio machines. Plus it has a great view!

Joined the gym about a week ago. I haven't been to the YMCA since i was a little kid. And i suppose $40 a month isn't so bad when you have numerous things to do including swimming , basketball, racquetball, walking track, free weights and other things. Overall i love it. The staff is friendly and is always available to answer questions. It can get crowded sometimes and it seems like in some areas it's overcrowded with people.

    Healthy vending!! Love it!

I have been to this branch before on a tour. Even during that tour, it is a lot to take in. First know, you have to park in a parking garage that is not connected to the building. No worries, right, you are there to work out! :-) There is a discounted rate for YMCA members in the garage when you show you YMCA card. It is only a $1, and no fear you non-cash carrying folk, they take card. It saved me for sure! The branch is a short walk from the branch. Even in super cold weather it wasn't too bad. Upon entering, it is a lot to take in. I checked in and of course had to ask where everything was. There are floors in this branch. I prefer floor 4 that has the normal elliptical and treadmills. Even on a January afternoon there were plenty of treadmills open. This was around late afternoon on a Tuesday, so I am not real sure what other times look like. They do have an indoor track and racquetball courts! This area was super busy! There is an elevator, but I loved having the option to get in more activity and steps with taking the steps and walking to and from the parking garage. I was expecting this visit to be a big "to do." It's downtown, traffic, parking garage, going into a new branch. It was a breeze! I will for sure return since my son goes to school about 2 miles from this branch. So it's perfect for a quick workout!

Very nice and spacious. Never too crowded. However the YMCA is one of the most expensive gyms in town.

The trainer will walk you through the exercises at the beginning of each class and then they'll turn up high energy playlists for warm ups and the workouts. There are four sections that you rotate between, each section has at least two exercises. So if you end up dreading one of the sections, you're only there for a few minutes. The trainers will take the time to help you with the exercises if you're struggling and suggest modifications to the workouts if you need them. The classes have made me much more comfortable with incorporating weights into my workouts. The only downside is that facility does not have a shower and the last classes during the week begin at 5:30 pm.

I joined for a month with a friend. I had been a member at PF but found it quit boring! Ambition has went above and beyond in results, classes, and making you realize that you can do it! My 1st class was Upper Hirt. 4 stations...teams together supporting each other. The break down is each station has 2 special movements and or weights geared for that area of muscle and body strength. The team is in groups and each switches off to do those particular tasks. The class last for 45 minutes and let me tell you...YOU WILL WORK YOUR ASS OFF AND YOU WILL FEEL IT THEN AND THE NEXT DAYS TO COME! They also have Lower Hirt. Full Body...Etc. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Ambition Fitness! I am 53 and trying to tone and build muscle with cardio. This is WOMEN ONLY and a fun women bonding experience. You will love it and be proud of your success. Please mention my name if and when you call. Katie will Be eager to help answer any and all of your questions.

I had been wanting to work with a personal trainer and came across The Factory Gym a few weeks ago…read more After realizing that it is located in my end of town that made me take the plunge as they are not only close to my house but offer personal training as well. I called and talked to the general manager, Tarek who was so very helpful, answered all my questions and encourage me to come in a take a tour of the gym. I had no idea that the gym has been there since 1984 about as long that we have lived in the south-end, across from the post office on Allmond Ave. The space is open with free weights, machines, a training area with all kinds of equipment to perform every exercise you could ever do. The staff are very friendly, plenty of parking right out side the door, men and women's locker rooms, a breakroom, healthy food options and a small kitchen. There are many bodybuilders who work out in the gym but everyone has been friendly and helpful if I have questions. Tarek hooked me up with Kayla, one of the trainers. You have to be a member of the gym to train there but they take Silver Sneakers so that is cool. I paid the gym directly for my training sessions and they cut you a deal if you pay for 8 sessions up front (one free). Kayla has been fantastic. As a body builder herself I feel confident in her workouts. She pushes me and I'm sore after our workouts but she is intent on preventing injury while building strength, mobility and balance. We had a couple of conversations prior to our first visit and she has tailored my sessions to work on my issues. I have finished 7 of my 8 sessions, going to the gym twice a week meeting with Kayla and what she wants me to focus on outside of our sessions together. She went out of town and sent me two workouts to do while she was gone. We will meet this week for our last session. I have been impressed with the facility, the staff and especially my trainer Kayla.

After my class I filled out the survey that was emailed to me which gave me the option to attend a second class for free. After my second class I was hooked and signed up. Shred 415 has multiple class pack options to purchase. The entire facility is very clean and the provide quality equipment to use in class. The bathroom has everything you would need to prep yourself after class.... showers, towels, hairdryer, dry shampoo, hair spray. I enjoy that the class is in a cool temperature controlled studio. I've never been disappointed with the music playlist chosen for a class. I always catch myself singing along or pushing myself harder because of the beat. Shred 415 offers one hour classes that are divided into intervals, alternating between treadmill drills and strength training. Most classes are the standard four 15 minute intervals. I like that some instructors switch it up and do six 10 minute intervals or 2 fifteen minutes, 2 ten minutes, and 2 five minute intervals. I like to rotate between starting on the treadmill or on the floor. I try to attend a class 3-4 times per week. Shred 415 uses the MindBody app to sign up for classes. Each day they list multiple times with the instructor and the type of class (total body, arms & abs, butt & legs). I prefer to work out in the morning and they offer multiple class times for me to pick from. Some class times even offer childcare during the class, and it's clearly marked on the MindBody app. My first class I made it very clear that I WILL NOT be running on the treadmills ... the owner and instructor assured me that the treadmill intervals will be at my own pace. Approaching the end of my first two months and I'm occasionally running on the treadmill while in class. I love the entire staff at Shred 415. When I walk in the front door the staff knows my name and checks me in. The instructors give name shout outs to encourage during class.... and sometimes hearing my name gives me that extra push that I needed! The owner, Kathleen, very friendly and present. She quickly responded to my emails and made signing up a breeze! Thank you to Kathleen and the entire staff for making my morning work outs great! Come give Shred 415 a chance!
