The outdoor dining area is really Pretty while the inside dining is very much setup as a motor enthusiast shed, come man cave, come quaint cafe and it totally works!! The coffee and food was really good to-boot (? Is that the right word, not sure... But you get the idea). The Throttle Shed has that tucked away feeling but it's actually not very far off Main North Road at all. They seem to have their regulars as others that came in to the cafe all seemed quite familiar with each other which just added to the overall pleasantness. My husband and I were really glad we stopped to check this place out. Ps. They also appear to be open every day except Tuesdays. I think it was steeped for slightly too long because it had severe strength, lucky I'm tough and tend to drink my tea on the strong side because I'd have been embarrassed to have sent that back, it should be hard to mess up tea. But in Elizabeth, it is a welcome change from food court rubbish, or the culinary suicide of McDonalds and KFC. The decor is modern and pleasant, the tables and floor are clean. The food is average, but not bad. Same with the coffee and tea. Nothing bad to say, but nothing pops out as showing exceptional flair to catch a foodies eye or palate. It relies on "all you can eat" promotions to fill the restaurant on slow nights, and for Sunday breakfasts. As already stated, a product of its environment. It does have the advantage of being surrounded by sub-par chain food outlets, and an American pub opposite with a reputation for awful food. Compared to these options, Cafe Acqua does well. An example of the standards is a coffee a friend ordered, the ceramic mug sported a deep chip right where you place your mouth (steel teeth are all the rage in the north it seems....) There is no way the barista could not have seen it when making the beverage, and when I returned it to the bar, rather than make a replacement, the coffee was poured into a replacement cup and handed back. I doubt the mug was thrown out... So, if in the Elizabeth City Centre, you certainly can do worse. Just don't expect much, and you'll be happy.

We were greeted warmly and had great service all night from the waiters. They have a kiddy playground area which was great, unfortunately the two kids kept getting stuck in there because they have a table right next to it which had an 18th party who wouldn't sit down and kept blocking the aisle. Boo loved the snail car (take $2 to the front counter for a token) My pizza was amazing and they give you take away containers to take home. Recommend the garlic pizza entree. Hubby's schnitzel was huge and he really enjoyed it and the kids pizza was large and she demolished it! The place was very loud is my only complaint - we were yelling to hear each other. The price is good, slightly high for pizza but definitely worth it. It's full table service except payment at the end which is fine with me. We will be back - hopefully on a quieter night!
