To ritzy and too glamorous for the Town of Lake Placid, I said. Nothing negative about the establishment - I just thought, well - it's Lake Placid. Nothing survives long in Lake Placid. I was wrong. Amber Louise Boutique survived and outlasted several different coffee and ice cream shops in the very same Plaza. Kate reminded me of this when visiting Lake Placid last night with her little sister Rebecca. Owing a house here since 2002 - and in town for an event - we visited this quaint little boutique once again. Kate even signed up for a rewards card. Women's clothes, jewelry, accessories and a bunch of stuff for anyone else but me, my 6 and 11 year old didn't have a problem spending money. After all, it's Christmas and the kids are purchasing gifts for themselves and their mother. It didn't hurt that wine was being served with Christmas cookies for a "downtown Friday" type holiday shopping event. Great job and cute little boutique, Amber Louise. I wandered into this creative co-op during the Caladium Festival and I was impressed by the…read moreartistic talent that was showcased. The Caladium Arts and Crafts Co-Op is a non profit that was created in 1992 by three Lake Placid Artists: Carol Mills, Harriet Porter, and Suellen Robinson. The ladies wanted to create a place for local artists and crafters to display and market their creations to the public. The store is like Etsy shop that you can walk around in person. Artists join the co-op so they can sell their creations. There are approximately 50 artists selling painted furniture, crochet blankets, tote bags, wreaths, trinket boxes, tea towels, note cards, jewelry, aprons, glasses, holiday decorations, faux floral arrangements, Christmas ornaments, art work for the wall, and more. I especially loved the delicate caladium earrings which were perfect for the festival. Everyone who was working was so kind and warm to me and the prices were more than fair for such skilled handiwork in the mediums of wood, textiles, glass, canvas, and metal. In addition to selling the work of artists, the co-op also has a room in the back that offers a variety of classes. You can view the current offerings on Facebook. A recent project was a rope bowl. If I lived locally I would be a regular visitor to this inspirational and welcoming space.

They were all delivered and set up for me in time for my next trip back to Florida to stay in our new home. The pricing was reasonable, the American made quality is second to none and I am very happy with all of the furniture we purchased. The mattresses are extremely comfortable. We were so pleased with the entire experience working with Hunter and Lee's Furniture that we returned to the showroom to buy some pieces for our den and for beautiful Colonial Road pieces for our lanai. Unfortunately, that is the exception and not the rule. Most times when I visit, I walk out with nothing. Hence the three stars.

A friendly and not pushy salesperson approached within a minute. Like the great customer that I am I had my filters ready to narrow down my choices. No leather, no sleeper sofa, no wildflower prints etc., etc. I specifically mentioned I didn't want any prints of wild naked women on my sofa. After she stopped laughing my salesperson said she thought she could avoid that! After about twenty minutes a found my perfect sofa. Not bad! I was told it need to be ordered and would be delivered on July 19th. I paid and was out the door and smiling in thirty minutes. On July 18th I received the delivery call and agreed to the delivery window. The guys arrived on time and the delivery was perfect. They removed my old sofa for a small fee. So what can I say. I was completely satisfied and not for the first time! I'll be back!
