Well, where it's located is a cute plaza with historical murals. This store has a connected coffee shop to it. On the weekend there's a farmers market. Right beside the coffee shop is a dog friendly brewery.

I stumbled upon them in the Journal Plaza during a recent trip to Lake Placid and was pleasantly surprised by the large inventory of cool items. When you walk up they had a discount area that was 50 percent off. Inside the store some of my favorite items included the orange blossom scented candles from The Grove, the exquisite jewelry, succulents, kiwi and watermelon slices coasters, wish jar kits, Lake Girl T-shirts, map decor items of Lake Placid, and handbags. I saw many one of a kind items. If I have one small criticism it is that everything that was not on sale was very expensive. They did have some more sales in the store on jewelry and those items were very affordable. If you picked out a gift from here, I am sure the recipient would be very happy. Blueberry Patch has an eatery in the back called the Good News Cafe but it was closed during my visit. This is exactly the kind of store I love to browse around in. You can get a ton of ides for your home decor. If money is no object, you are going to love shopping here.

The items were then given to the people who worked on them or were resold. Goodwill's philosophy is "a hand up, not a hand out". Today Goodwill has become a $5 billion nonprofit organization that provides job training, employment, and community programs for people who have disabilities that might prevent them from getting a job on their own. I was in the area so I decided to check out this Goodwill in Sebring. It was completely different than any other Goodwill I have been to. They still had the same racks of clothes I am used to but they also carried a wide range of brand new household decor items including art, rugs, and decorations. One large part of the store was roped off and it contained hundreds of brand new Halloween costumes in bags. It was a far cry from the one rack of used mismatched costume pieces I have seen Goodwill stores carry in the fall. This store also carries brand new mattresses. This Goodwill resembled more of a Big Lots than the Goodwills I am used to. The prices were on par with those of discount retailer Big Lots as well. They even sell snacks up front. I inquired about what they sell and was told it was new and thrift items. The new items had been donated to them. I don't know if this store is unique or the way Goodwill wants to move in the future. Everything was clean and displayed nicely. I really wanted to find out more about this store but unfortunately they were getting ready to close for the night. If I lived in Sebring I would be a regular customer at this store.

Although very clean an organized the merchandise lacks a lot to be desired. It is nothing like the usual Goodwills. Most all items except the clothing is cheap made and new items priced much higher than the same items from a regular retail store. The furniture was extremely over priced. If you are a thrift person looking for items to refurbish or resale dont wast your time at this store. The clothing both new and used was lower quality. None of the special finds that make thrifting fun. I love shopping Goodwills and was a regular customer in Jacksonville. I have been in this store several times and have found absolutely nothing I would consider purchasing. I would rate it the lowest of all the Goodwills I have shopped at in my many many years of thrifting. I would give this store an a+ for cleanliness. The employees seemed friendly and knowledgeable. It is the merchandise that should be given a 1 star rating. It is not just that it is overpriced it is the quality and selections. I wish Goodwill would consider opening a store similar to the other Goodwills in Florida if not in Sebring then Lake Placid. This store is a total disappointment.

They seem to be doing all day happy hour now, which makes prices very reasonable. Be prepared to drink from plastic cups due to the proximity to the harbor. There is usually music during the afternoons, which caters to the older crowd (big surprise, it's Florida) and isn't very good! Quick tip: This is behind the Four Points Sheraton, which you access if you are heading north on US41. Quick tip 2: Bathrooms are port o potty style, so if you aren't down for that, you'll have to walk inside the Four Points, which if you're old and gotta go, could be problem :)

This is the only place you can really enjoy being on the water while you have a drink. What a shame! There is a little fake sand beach which adds to the atmosphere, but as the previous reviewer said it is definitely an older crowd. However, the drinks are pretty much always cheap, which is a huge bonus. If you can get over being hit on by a few 60+ old men, it's worth pulling up a beach chair and sipping a beer while the sun sets over the harbor. Also, this place closes pretty early so make sure to get there earlier.
