The medical assistants are also very helpful and friendly. It is a very welcoming environment. Dr. Feller has such an amazing bedside manner and she truly does an amazing job helping you understand your cardiac heath. She never rushes you and listens. My sister, an older woman, became so ill that her primary doctor told us to call an ambulance. For…read moreover a month she had been suffering indigestion-like pains that waxed and waned. Her PCP had tried various drugs. (It is my belief that one of these drugs led to the crisis. I am parsing my words because I don't want to violate her medical confidentiality). The ambulance technicians demanded to know what specific reason led us to call them at this specific time. They did not want to know the prequel. (Nonetheless I gave them a written report of the course of the illness). Four days inpatient -- procedures were performed. One night was comedy! The night nurse set a loud bell to clang if the patient got out of bed, but several trips to bathroom were necessary. At first trip, 2 attendants came charging into the room like it was on fire! The doctor, whom I never met, gave a strong cancer scare. Tests proved this was not the case. This doctor stated that she wanted to talk to me. The following day the doctor was informed that I was in the room but she sent a message that she no longer needed to talk to me. No thought that I might wish to talk to her! Meanwhile I inserted the "prequel" notes into the chart. As we were checking out of the hospital, we told the nurse that my sister was still experiencing the indigestion-like pains that were the root cause of the hospitalization. The nurse said "eat some food." While on the subject of food-- if the patient wants a meal and is not on a liquid diet, the patient has to initiate the call to the kitchen. This is fine but one friend told me he was never told this upon his admission to UCMC. My indictment is that the hospital treated a crisis but did not venture into the area of the body which was the actual problem. By the way- I would urge inpatients, as they are leaving, to request a copy of the entire hospital record of the stay. There were a couple of errors spotted, e.g. amount of weight loss was nearly 3x actual amount. D.Borsella
