When a patients mental health needs are in question, this kind of last-minute cancellation isn't an administrative inconvenience, it's a patient safety issue. Insurance coordination is an administrative matter. It should never override ethical obligations to provide reasonable notice, protect continuity of care, or ensure safe transitions, especially in behavioral health. This experience raises serious questions about patient abandonment, access to care, and how vulnerable patients are treated when payer complexity enters the picture. Sharing this to raise awareness -- not to target individuals -- but to advocate for better safeguards and accountability in mental health care.

To start, Nurse Nawaz was late to my telemedicine appointment. Within 15 minutes, I had been interrupted multiple times while giving my backstory to be told I basically don't know what I'm talking about. Mind you, I'm only sharing my past at this point. Within those 15 minutes, she reduced 25+ years of trauma to drinking too much caffeine. She continued to say, "You should probably consider another therapist if they referred you to me." The experience itself was rude, dismissive and callous. To add insult to injury, the provider tried to charge me the full amount for my 15 minute "consult". $688. Luckily, I have screenshots of the exchange within their mobile app. I have been in battle with their billing department for a month to have the charges reduced to what was quoted. My insurance got back to me today, and wouldn't you know, my bill is being reduced to the correct amount. The worst part of this is that I'm now in a worse spot that I was to begin. Nervous to have another horrible experience like this one and possibly be charged 3x what I was quoted. Nurse Nawaz is deplorable.

Especially after I spoke with Jane one on one the week prior about my husbands paranoia about me due to his excessive pot smoking. I responded yes I am angry, hurt and devastated my husband left me on my mothers birthday, a keg party was more important to him than his wife however I am not going to attack you I do not have a violent bone in my body and I think it is my prerogative to be angry based on the situation. It all went down hill after that Jane simply sat back listening to my husband attack me with his paranoia due to his excessive pot smoking, I finally got up in the middle of the session and said I can't listen to this anymore I'm done and walked out. I haven't heard from my husband since, he left me with no car, no money (cleaned out our accounts) no food in the house, told me he paid the utilities and I got two past due notices for the water and the electric bill, stopped paying our credit cards last December after he quit Merrill Lynch and destroyed my credit and took everything of value from our home my wedding rings, my jewelry and I am sure Jane Hill put the nail in that coffin after I left. West Eastern Health feels different. From the moment I walked in, I could feel that the staff was caring, attentive and focused on whole health. Everyone was super nice and made me feel cared for. Not only that, but it's clear that the people who work there are themselves passionate about health and wellbeing - which I think is support important. In terms of services, they have so much to offer here - both for physical health and for mental health. I came in for IV treatment to boost my immunity and focus.
