Each completed implant was digital X rayed in house to check alignment, however, this was done only once and the radiation level was so low that no one left the room. No lead apron was needed, and my dentist even held the film in place with his finger. Almost immediately, I viewed the image on screen with my dentist to verify the perfect alignment. The Houston dentists covered by my insurance use 1950's X ray equipment and hide in another room while they expose you to radiation levels that cause healthy teeth to erupt or go out of alignment. This method of predatory medicine provides them with more income that is certainly not earned by the quality of their work..

My experience from beginning to end was amazing and they totally erased any bad child hood memories I've had with past dentists. My appointment was at 11am, it wasn't until 2pm that I was seen by Dr. Villarreal. Never in my life have I waited that long for any medical appointment. After a three hour wait to determine if a painful tooth should be pulled, I was told I had a Type A personality and I should meditate. I'm not sure of any Type A personality that would wait three hours for an appointment, but whatever. At the very least, I expected after waiting that long to receive some sort of meaningful recommendation/diagnosis. Nope. No diagnosis and I was told if the tooth was pulled, it could damage neighboring teeth nearby. So after a very brief consult, I left and drove another hour home. Waste of 5 plus hours of my life and the fees incurred for a useless consult. Do not recommend, but I guess if you live in the RGV you are limited on options. Thankfully I have returned to the real world. However, I recommend avoiding this office if possible.

Apparently, my one and only wisdom tooth (weird, I know) was "impacted". In other words, the tooth had to go. I went in to Dr Villareal's offfice got assessed and was in the surgery room within 20 minutes. The surgery was super quick and they drugged me enough to not find it horrifying. It was actually not bad. I was in pain for the following two days but I was off pain meds by the third or fourth day.
