My routine teeth cleaning has always been with the use if an ultrasonic scaler as I am prone to heavy plaque & tartar buildup and has proven to always be effective. My last cleaning a month ago was done by a manual scraping instrument during the entire cleaning and asked to have water spray scaler used instead but was ignored.Also I was told i had a small abscess infection on upper gums and asked for an antibiotic to help reduce/eliminate it so as to not worsen while on vacation and they denied my request. Other issue i had at this practice was the high turnover rate with the many different dental hygienists that have gone through the revolving door. As soon as I found one that I really liked she was gone by next cleaning which I get done 3X/year. Lastly, I am finding the original dentists who opened the practice are hardly present in the office any more only to be replaced by more different and new dentists which doesnt help cultivate a consistent and familiar rapport patient-dental provider relationship. I guess gone are those days...and oh by the way this dental office does NOT accept my dental insurance plan as of late for ANY dental service.

They tell clients…read morewho have Dental insurance that they have co-pays for cleanings (like medical co-pays) when in reality they are "OUT-OF-NETWORK SURCHARGES". I called my insurance who confirmed there are NO such thing as "co-pays" with our dental plan! When I confronted the office manager and subsequently the dentist about this (after being a customer for 20 years), the dentist told me to "think of insurance as a coupon". I'm sorry but our Dental Insurance is not cheap and is in no way "a coupon". Their charges (and extra surcharges) for any type of dental work are astronomical because they are "Out of Network" with all insurance plans. They also added a ridiculous, rigid policy charging if you need to re-schedule an appt. They are now in it to milk every $ possible from you....very sad that they went this route!

We had a wonky insurance policy that only provided X-ray coverage every other year and they never balked at the request to check with the insurance if it was an "on or off year" for me and my young kids. I cannot say enough about the hygienists at this practice! I have grown close with one and going in for my cleaning every six months is like catching up with an old friend over a beverage. Dr. Rubin is calm and non-alarmist. Dr. Silva is engaging and attentive. I have not met Dr. Gene but hear he's great, too! This office is more modern in their practices, most notably in x-rays. My last dentist was still using film, and Dr Ko used digital imaging. I don't know if there are any tradeoffs, but it's a lot faster digitally. He also uses a small wand camera and monitor to show you things you wouldn't be able to see otherwise. They also use email for appointment reminders, which should be a no-brainer today. Lastly, the front office staff is very nice.

This might be a rare incident but I feel it's worth posting…read more My son's palette expander broke off in his mouth and a long piece went inside his body. The X-ray found it in his stomach, where it still is. He has been to the ER twice and is terrified of surgery. The staff was apologetic and removed the device after it broke off. But before that, they called to ask if my son could come in at 10:45 instead of first thing, since he didn't have an appointment. I keep thinking about that and how it made us all feel. I know accidents happen and there was no guarantee it wouldn't break. We did assume that would never happen, though. I strongly recommend bringing your kiddo to a place that takes an emergency like this as seriously as we do.
