    Beautiful sunny day

This park is so spacious and is well maintained. The watering schedule for the dirt walking area is a little off but there's plenty of space to walk when the sprinklers go off.

Great park! A bit off the beaten path so not really as crowded as it could be. Equipment in good shape, kids seem to be well behaved for the most part unlike some other parks.

Huge play area for ages 5-12

I really enjoy bringing my two toddlers to this park. It has 2 nice play areas for them to enjoy. The park is always clean and free of debris. It's close and convenient to my home. There are plenty of BBQ areas if you want to have a small picnic for the family. There are tennis and basketball courts available, a path if you want to walk, jog or run and also a baseball field. Very nice opened park to meet your family needs. I am definitely a fan of this park.

    Toddler play area and swings.

This park is perfect for little ones and older children. The two playgrounds are well kept and there are also two baby swings and 4 adult swings . There's enough grassy sitting area, basketball courts, baseball field, and benches. I visited this park with my 2 year old and my 13 yr old boys and the 3 enjoyed it. The huge play are is intended for older children, if younger ones go on I do agree with adult supervision since some of the slides are very high up. Overall a great experience.

The soccer field. They have a nice youth soccer program at this park. This is a Wildcat pre-game warm up 2011.

Richard Rioux Park is one of the best parks in the SCV for a couple of reasons. It is in a location with a fantastic view of the valley. There are plenty of tables and grass. There is even a full gated area with a stage and bbqs that can be leased for all day events or party's. The playground is also a huge sell. It has been recently redone and it is really nice. The playground area is quite large and the height of the build allows for very cool tube slides that are pretty long and fast for the kids. Since we've gone to this park it is hard to go to any others. There is also a full size basketball court near the soccer and baseball fields. Overall it's just a fantastic place to take the kids in the SCV.

Love this park. Clean, safe, and well kept. I appreciate the little kiddie section being separate from the older kids playground.

The only way that this park can be successful is to remove Doug and change the leadership to someone who is more dynamic and passionate.

We frequent new parks and I hate when I can't find any updated photos for them so that's how I started my instagram @thatabcsquad to share. And now I'd like to contribute to Yelp as well. I've had my eyes on this park for a while now but whenever I would put it into Google Maps, it would say it's under construction so I didn't wanna haul three kids to a park that 'may' be closed (we live 40 mins away) But a friend passed by and saw it was open so we had to go check it out! We loved every second of it!! - huge fully shaded playground!! Three sections, bigger, middle and smaller. - BIG slides for those who love them! - lots of climbing and crawling areas - plenty of grassy space - baseball fields - shaded picnic tables - clean bathrooms - water fountains - parking lot close by to playground If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend this park!! We were told there's also a little nature trail too! We gotta check that out next time.

Let's begin this banger review…read more Whitney Canyon Park is a 442-acre park known for its diverse trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, featuring oak woodlands, chaparral, and riparian areas with seasonal waterfalls. It is located next to the freeway in Santa Clarita. I have been eyeing this trail/park for months and I am glad I crossed this on my All trails hiking list. I came on a late Monday morning and it was bloody windy (~45 mph) with a cool temp of 64 degrees. This park has multiple trials including Elsmere Trail. WCP has a wide track trail through a canyon that was known for oil drilling and ranching some of its remnants are still visible. Its trail has little to no tree shade but the trailhead was kept clear. I have seen some hikers (family and kids) and bikers along the way; most are friendly and nice. Parking lot is huge with no shades. Trash bins are available. Overall, it's a nice easy park to go hiking. I recommend it.

Reaching the waterfall is not for the faint of heart. You climb uphill, descend back down, reach a small waterfall, and then go through it to finally arrive at Whitney Waterfall. It's a bit sketchy, definitely thrilling, and absolutely worth it but only if you're prepared. Hiking shoes are a must. This trail is not recommended for kids or beginner hikers due to steep and slippery sections. It was 48 degrees and freezing cold today, so check the weather before you go and layer up. Also, there are no restrooms, so plan ahead. If you're looking for a raw, adventurous hike with a rewarding waterfall at the end, this one delivers.

When we run errands, or go to lunch, we now look for a nearby neighborhood or park to explore. Today brought us to Valencia. When I searched for "largest park", Heritage appeared. After running errands and before dinner, we went walking. After parking in the large, free lot, we went towards the restrooms to prep for our hour long constitutional. We set a timer for 30 minutes and off we set towards the San Fransiquito Creek Trail along the northwest edge of the park. We had no idea how well paved, well marked and how, well...LONG this trail is! We walked for 30 minutes north, past homes and communities, then turned back before we could even see anywhere NEAR the end of the trail at Copper Hill Dr. Along the way we passed many a happy walker, jogger, puppy dog, and cyclists enjoying the final golden minutes of the day and this lovely area preserved for our recreation. By the time we returned to the actual park, soccer practice and flag football began occupying the fields. Many more youths had taken to the playground and a few adults had settled into the tables at the picnic area. As we left, we agreed it was a great walk and a beautiful location we look forward to traversing again, next time following the trail in the opposite direction. Cheers! "CC"

However, This one may cause me to reconsider such low expectations... Due to lack of time..I'll have to plan another day to come back and go further... However we still managed to explore 5miles...But this is the type of trail that makes you want to keep going. And from the looks if it, you could keep going for days. Keep in mind that this is the hike that is past mentryville, they have a $5 parking fee, bring cash. So the first part if the hike is a paved road (which makes jogging a really nice option) there are two places where you have the option to take a left which would lead to picnic tables... However if you keep going straight you will get a nice photo op. Of the Pico Canyon plaques where the first oil well once was. Right past this you can begin your climb up the mountain. The incline is perfect... It offed a great workout opportunity... And it's not too hard where it makes you feel like you may die if you continue. The view is surprisingly gorgeous.. Seriously, I have lived out in Santa Clarita my entire life and I never would have guessed such views existed. It is a hike that you should not attempt on your own, only because it's pretty secluded, my partner and I did not see another single hiker. I definitely look forward to coming back, the path seems endless and I would love to continue on... It also helps that the weather was in our favor today... Couldn't have asked for a better day.
